  1. Just an update to my earlier post. The Prado has now been with Toyota for 8 weeks, going on 9 next Tuesday. They have replaced the computer, checked the wiring, re built the auto transmission, and still can't find the fault. The car is still under the balance of the new car warranty. All along they have been blaming the previous owner for cutting off the wiring of some of extras that he took off when he "cracked it" 'cause he couldn't get the trade-in that he wanted. Now they have mentioned the Scangauge that I had in the car. I rang the distributors of Scangauge and they highly doubt that it could cause a problem as it just reads the engine computer. They have never heard of Scanguage causing problems here in Australia or in the US/Europe where tens of thousands have been sold. So that where it stands. Hopefully they will ring me next week and say that it is fixed, fingers crossed. Regards, Pete.
  2. Hello, First time poster. I hope I have put this in the right section. I have a 2008 Prado gxl d4d auto. It has done 40,000km, and I bought it last Feb with 34,000km on the clock. The car has been faultless in that time. We purchased a new camper trailer and had some electrical work done with a brake controller installed, as well as a second battery, driving lights etc. The auto electrican who did the work said the car was working perfectly when he delivered it to the camper sales office. On connecting the camper and taking it for a test drive to check out the brake contoller, I noticed a 5 second delay before drive was engaged. Also the engine light remained on. I took the Prado back to the auto electrican and he throughly checked, removed, and replaced all the work he had done. We then took the car to the local Toyota dealer who put his computer on the car, and his words "never seen that code before" We were some 600 km from home and the local Toyota dealer told us to drive back to Melbourne and take it to our Toyota dealer. It drove perfectly, except for the 5 second delay and the engine light being on. We took it (and the camper trailer) back to the Melbourne Toyota dealer where we got the Prado from.(still under new car warranty) After 10 days trying to track down the fault, they replaced the computer that contols the auto, (at their expense) however they told me this has not solved the problem. They phoned me today telling me that they will have another go at it on Monday, and if it is still not working properly they will then call in the Toyota experts from the Australian head office. Has anyone else experienced a delay problem with the auto and engine light remaining on like this? It has quite a few people baffled. Regards, Pete.
