  1. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/driveon/post/2010/10/toyota-recall-lexus-avalon-highlander/1

The models recalled in the U.S.:

    2005-06 Avalon

    2004-06 Highlander (non-hybrid)

    2004-06 Lexus RX330

    2006 Lexus GS300

    2006 IS250

    2006 IS350

The Japanese models with the brake problem are the Crown, Crown Majesta, Harrier, Mark X, Alphard, Kluger, Lexus GS350, Lexus IS250, and Lexus IS350 built from from May 2002 to November 2005. The Lexus GS350 and the Crown also have the fuel pump problem.

  2. Got my KX-S today! Woo! :)

Just showed the cheese and kisses around it. Her comment.

    "It's big!"

Congrats!!! (great comment from the better half too!)

So c'mon, what's the stats (colour, options etc)? How is the drive?

Were you driving the old Kluger previously or is this a complete departure from what you usually drive?

I'm going to be coming from a Mazda 3 (just a bit of a change!!).

Graphite KX-S with towbar and front+rear sensors, mats, cargo mat, headlight and bonnet protectors (not that exciting eh?)

Drive so far has been from the dealer to home. It's smooth and quiet.

Previous car? NB8C Mazda MX5. BIG change. :)

  3. It looks like someone at Toyota has noticed the Lexus logo on the nudge bar...there is now no nudgebar for the Kluger on the website. Well done on grabing those images when you did Scud!

Can anyone confirm if the nudge bard has been 'facelifted' or was this just a mistake on teh website?

Today is the day that my car is due to arive at the dealer...fingers crossed.

    G'luck Phil.

Mine was supposed to be there yesterday. Pick up Monday. I'll be calling the stock controller this morning as the tracking system shows it as not being delivered to the dealer yet.

:( looks like it will be sometime early next week for me too - subject to the availability of the nudge bar and side steps. Should have by my wife's birthday next year at this rate...

Tow bar and parking sensors go on today.

    :yahoo: :D

No car for me this weekend :-(

    Looking like Wednesday

Just had a call, Tuesday now for me :(

  5. hi all,

i've just gone onto he Toyota website and saw that as part of the options available there is a rear seat entertainment package comprising of individual screens which seem to mount below the front seat headrests.

on reading the blurb that goes with the pictures it would appear that each screen works independantly of the other so i presume each screen has its own drive and the like.

I've called my local dealer to inquire but he was none the wiser, has anyone here made any inquires? Cost?

    Thanks

    I saw those too.

I will bet that a pair of iPads is cheaper than what Toyota charge for a pair of those. :)

  6. I've seen ads for the new model several times on tv so far

    I'm with Happs.

No press release on the Toyota website

No mention by the Toyota AU Twitter account

No mention by the Toyota AU Facebook account

    No print news articles/reviews yet.

The Kluger section of the Toyota AU website updated in a very piecemeal fashion.

Looks like a pretty soft launch. I guess there must be a lot of old stock around or marketing doesn't see it is a model worth making a fuss about.

Could be that the motorshow is the official launch, in which case the showrooms getting stock this week makes a lot of sense. Nothing worse than crowing about a vehicle than no one can get hold of.

  8. The pick up date is calculated as 5 days after the true dealer estimated arrival date. It's not based on anything else really, just to make the customer happy. So theoretically if it is being prepared for transport, it will arrive at the dealership within the next 24 hours and you should be in the car soon depending on what accessories you want!

Except it's been in this status since I could see it in the tracking system from the 7th, and the initial date was the 20th. The dealership told me it'd take three days to prep (towbar etc) once they got it and I could have it Monday. If it's still with Patricks (or whoever does it nowdays) then it'd better get to the dealer no later than tomorrow morning otherwise I'm going to be an unhappy camper.

What annoys me more is that I ordered back at the start of July which I would have thought would be early enough to get one of the first vehicles, yet I see your dealership has already got vehicles. I know it's only a few days, but have I mentioned I'm impatient? :)

  9. thanks for all the replys

decided to try the local bridgestone dealer

i dont buy tires from there myself but we take a lot of our company vehicals there

asked him for his best price

came back with 325$ each for OE Bridgestones

id still like to get some decent off road tires thou for a trip to darwin and the center in 18 months

Given my import research, I'd be going with that. Sounds quite reasonable.

    Toyota's Display Audio System

Good stuff, looks reasonable. Thanks for that. :)

My car is still not at the dealer according to the tracking system. This is the hard part. The last few days.

    I must be patient. :)

Hmm, given it's compatible with review camera I wonder if it will be hooked up, or the little screen above will be used instead.

  11. I don't have KX-S here, and I'm not sure if I'm getting one quickly.

Have you had a look at the Altitude? Or that matter, any other Toyota's? It will be the same 6CD including the colour screen and usb input that most other Toyotas have in them now (bar the base models.)

    No, I haven't. S'ok. I'll wait for mine. Thanks.

    Not long now...

  12. Thanks Scud, you're summary was very helpful. The new alloys though seem to be similar to the ones they placed in the Altitude model doesn't it? No mention as well on the power seats. Hopefully the website is still wrong at this point and that they did not take away the power seats on the Grande.

I did model comparison on Toyota website between Grande and KX-S. They all come with electric seats for driver and front passenger. The manual seat sliding is referring to the second row seats.

Can't wait for my new Grande.

I'd be treating the website at the moment as suspect. There is still a lot of old information on it.

I'm hanging out for my KX-S. I looked at the Grande and none of the features made it worth the extra $10k to me. :)

  13. Just been told that my car isn't scheduled to be delivered to the dealer until the 14th Oct!!

I've offered to go to Port K. and pick it up myself!!!!

Dealer is on the case to get it sooner but I'm not holding my breath....

    G'luck Phil.

  14. Fair call. I wouldn't be trusting a gentlemans agreement when it comes to the car trade. You should really get everything in writing.. even from my side of the fence it works the same way. The back of the contract stipulates that the price may be increased if decided so by the manufacturer/distributor of the vehicle publishes a price change.

Basically, the contract stipulates that the dealership can notify you of the price change and you have 3 days to choose whether to opt out or not. If the 3 days pass, you're stuck with it.

For sure. I tried getting the price rise bit struck out, but no dice. The three day thing is what I recalled. If the price goes up and they try to pass it on, you may get a message for a quote.

  15. They are probably trying to protect themselves. You should know tomorrow whether there will be a price increase.. Did you stipulate a get out clause if they try and increase the price on the contract?

Gentlemen's agreement. I believe the contract has a get out clause with a price rise.
