    RAV4 V6

I haven't had any problems with my SX V6, apart from very noisy standard tyres. I've now fitted a set of 235/65-17 Maxxis that seem OK so far. Even tho' the V^ RAV has plenty of power has anyone heard or know anything about adding a 'chip' to the electronics? Just wondering, that's all. Grandpasmurf
  2. I've got a RAV V6. I don't consider it to be expensive on fuel. In fact, touring along around 110 k's I would say that it would be no more expensive that the 4 cylinder. Considering that the 4 would need to work harder than the 6 when laden with holiday gear. Mind you, the only time that it has been off road is when I used it on dirt roads in the west of NSW. It still has the standard, noisy, tyres which are just tyres. :P :P
  3. We've got a V6, the SX6 model. It's got plenty of go..... no trouble getting into the traffic. Fuel consumption is OK to, unless you use all the power. The Bridgestone tyres that come as standard seem to be OK in the wet, but are v. noisy. We've done around K38 k's & they have been noisy since we got the RAV. As soon as I can I will be changing over to another brand, maybe Conti's. I am 6'3" in the old scale & 100k's & don't have any trouble getting comfortable. Although can't put my seat back far enough with my granddaughter's capsule behind me. I tried fitting it to the roof bars, but my wife objected. We've fitted a nudgebar with lights to improve country driving & haven't had any trouble with the RAV. Apart from ferals who drive to close in parking lots.
  4. Hi all, We are the owners of a 2008 V6 RAV, the SX model. It goes great, much better that our previous light/medium off roader. We've done around 30,000 k's so far & are very happy with it. The tyres don't seem to be lasting that well, tho' that might be the driving style. Any suggestions on replacement tyres. Mostly on-road driving. Thanks Grandpasmurf
  5. I've got a 2009 SX V6 fitted with the standard Bridgestone tyres. I run pressures of around 5lb more than standard in all four. On some surfaces, they seem to be very noisy. Any advice on tyre brands &/or models for when I'm changing over? Most of the driving is on sealed surfaces, but some graded dirt & gravel. Thanks, grandpasmurf
