  1. have a non genuine Toyota tray on a 2007 workmate. It is an alloy tray and I would like to put a step on the side of the tray just behind the Cab. I probably could fabricate one, however thought someone may know where or if they may be purchased aftermarket? I have looked everywhere but cant seem to find one. It would make it a lot easier to climb onto the tray.
  2. My pal has a 2006 model and had to replace the clutch at 40K, he says he doesn't carry big loads or drive it harshly. was he just unlucky or have others had similar experiences of premature clutch failure in these models ?
  3. I can get 10.5L-11.5 \100 km from a 2.7 VVTi 2007 workmate. I know the diesel engined version D3 turbo can get arnd 9L\100km and that seems attractive. But you probably have to weigh up the other factors, of regular servicing and parts replacement. I think if you were doing a lot of long distance trips per year the diesel option would be better, I did a calculation when I bought the Hilux and I would have to do 200,000 km before the initial outlay for the diesel variant broke even on the cost of fuel burned. For some that may take 20 yrs before they can recoup the extra $ of the diesel vehicle purchase. For some, the smell of diesel is objectionable and it seems to get every where on you at the pump no matter how careful you are. As for the pump price, I know there was a period in this country when the price of diesel was greater than that of unleaded due to the boom in the mining industry and market forces of supply and demand. The 1990 circa hiluxes (non turbo) where real fuel sippers and could go a long way without stopping for a drink but they lacked power. I think If you rate fuel economy over power, an early hilux running on bio-diesel would make the fkn taxman weep. LPG is soon to loose its tax exemption and you will see a price increase in this arena, investers in LPG conversions are about to learn about social engineering orchestrated by Governments and lobbyists. Just wait till Gillard folds to the do-gooder Greens to keep her lily white butt outa the political wilderness, and slaps a Carbon tax on fuel burning. I guess what I am saying is welcome to the wonderful world of consumerism tempered with the political influences of what you drive . Cheers !
  4. I own three toyotas 2005 Corolla, 2007 Camry and 2007 Workmate. I have owned Fords (still like the Ford product), Holdens and Hyundais, I decided to try The Toyota product due to its reliability reputation and so far I have found the vehicles to be basic, sound and sturdy in many aspects. They are comfortable and stylish although you dont get many features for your $. Buts its the reliability I was after. I like my Hilux 4 X 2 because it has that old school appeal, any extra features I add after market or second hand. so far I have added fog lights and remote central locking and soon to add power windows as a rainy day project. I find the 2.7 VVTI powerful enough for me ( daily ride, I don't carry big loads) and is economical for my style of driving. I get 600-650 km to tank,(mostly city) 10.5 ltre \100 and I only pay 4cyl rego (state tax ptooey). The ride height is high enough not to be in the shadows of other vehicles at intersections, for me its an all round vehicle and great value for money. cheers
  5. I have a 2007 workmate I used the Rapid remote locking without a cable clamp. There is an opportunity to connect a push\pull rod on the interior door latch, takes some time and patiance to get it( the rod ) right, however I havent had a problem with it for 3 yrs. The cable Clamp I was advised could damage the Cable sheath.Cheers
