    Rt40's

Gday, am in need of all parts for an rt40 im restoring. If u can help, pls let me know. Cheers.
  2. Lol, it's starting to seem that way.
  3. G'day all, the speedo on my 1990 2.0L camry gets to 70kmh and stops there? This was happening at 100kmh, but has gotten worse. Is this likely to be the cable? Or the speedo dial itself? Cheers.
  4. Here's some pics of the 65, I'll get sum of the 67 when I can.
  5. Ah, I see now, that makes perfect sense. I've also seen thousands of corollas in driveways ova the yrs, and very few coronas, but never thought bout it like that. I'll upload some pics as soon as I can. Cheers.
  6. Thanks for your reply. It's strange how the KE10's picked up in value, while the RT40's haven't?. I've always thought the coronas had more originality in their looks....but just my opinion. Also it seems that KE10's and their parts are more readily available 2nd hand. I figured the rarer the car, the more sought after they would be..but I guess in the RT40's case it's the opposite for the time being. The RT40's and parts are like rocking horse sh*t. In fact, I can't find any RT40 parts for sale anywhere lately. But u've pretty much convinced me to leave the 65 original:). Hopefully they'll become more valuable in the near future.
  7. G'day all, I own two RT40's..one is a 67 the other a 65. The 67 has an N/A 13B conversion from front to back. And the 65 is stock and unmolested. The orig idea was to convert the 65 to rotary immediately. But the more I look at how good it is in stock form the more I'm undecided if I should leave it as it is?...seems a shame to take it apart? Would it be better from a financial point of view to keep it stock and lic as it is? Or will it pick up some value as a lic rotary convert? Any and all opinions appreciated. Cheers.
  8. Yeh I hope Thsts all it was. Thanks for your help:)
  9. Cheers mate, i checked all fuses, alternator, and battery..all check out fine. Didn't check fusible links though But that's only because the moment I had checked the other things, all went back to normal?? So I'm happy it's working again, but still baffled and wondering if it'll happen again and why?
  10. Hi all, my 1990 camrys overdrive function, idicators, rev counter and heat gauge have just quit all at once? Can anybody shed some light on this for me before the car stops? Cheers.
  11. Hi guys, I'm looking for any and all parts for the RT40 corona. I'm restoring one, and need pretty much everything I can get my hands on. My old girl is rusty and pretty sad all over.... the sort of car most would give up on, but I just can't bare to send her to the crusher. So if anyone has ANYTHING u will sell me, I would much appreciate it. Cheers. J. JordoL67@gmail.com
  12. G'day, I'm in need of a an ignition barrel with key, and front door locks for a 1967 rt40. I lost my key:( If no one has any, is it possible to have a new key made by a locksmith to suit my orig ignition? Thanks all.
  13. Gday, my 91 camry 2.0L drives normally almost all the time. But randomly has an issue where I can't get it to go past 80kmh. I mash the pedal and it just won't go faster? It then goes back to driving normally? I have also noticed a drop in economy from around 600km per tank to 500-550? Any help is appreciated. Cheers.
  14. G'day, I have a 91 3sfe camry. But When I start it in the morning and am warming up, it sounds like it has possible bottom end issues? This noise also resembles a diesel motor noise. However after driving for 10 mins and when the temp is at it's normal running temp, the noise is gone and the motor sounds fine. If it were bottom end wouldnt the noise become worse the hotter the oil got? Any help appreciated. Cheers.
  15. Just a thought.... Mabey the weight of a full tank of fuel pushes harder against an allready blocked fuel filter, thus allowing the motor to get the correct amount of fuel until the weight drops off as the fuel burns away.
  16. G'day, just wondering how the rotor button comes off the distributor on a 3sfe? I can't see a screw or anything? Cheers.
  17. Honestly, Taking ur car to a mechanic for this problem is laughable, even for the most non mechanically minded person, coz this is so ez to do. As u saw its only a matter of a few bolts and pull off the overflow hose. Don't kno wot size socket u'll need as i dont have ur car. But a rough guess would b 10mm, but just go thru ur set till one fits. Check eBay etc for new bottle. Don't buy anything from rip off dealers untill u have searched EVERYWHERE else first. Same goes for all other mechanical work. Wreckers are as big a rip off as the dealers. Keep ur old coolant to re-use coz u said its new, unless it looks dirty in some way. Don't b afraid to attempt most anything, look well, take pics if ur memory isn't the best and go for it.
  18. No probs, nah, haven't tried any flushes, was a bit apprehensive to use an engine flush as I didn't want to loosen all the probable gunk inside the motor, and have it clog something else? Perhaps I will put a couple bottles of fresh thinner oil (10w40) in to kinda clean it up before putting in some 20w60? Also, Oil light takes 3 sec to go out wen starting in the morning? Motor doesn't make any unusual noises Wen the light is on or wen it's off, just the "diesel" Noise at idle. I'm unsure if the filter is the non drain back type?
  19. Cheers. However this sound is allways there at idle regardless of it being hot or cold. I had an appollo that did the same thing when cold, then would sound normal wen hot. But this one is constant at idle. Motor has done a few ks...257000. Doesn't appear to burn oil.
  20. Hi, I got a 91 camry(3sfe), and when idling it sounds like a diesel? Once the revs are picked up, the noise is gone? Ive heard other camrys and apollos make this noise at idle in the past. But all seemed to run and drive fine? Can anyone tell me what this noise actually is? coz it's annoying me greatly Cheers.
  21. G'day, just wondering how long factory plug leads, distributor cap and rotor last? I have an auto 3sfe 1991 camry. Just got this car, but it feels generally sluggish throughout the rev range? The only thing on it that's new is the air filter. Fuel economy isnt too bad, bout 600ish per tank. The Plug leads, distributor cap and rotor apear to be factory items. If they are actually that old, then they'll have done 257000kms. The timing belt was replaced bout 12000km ago. Any help appreciated. Cheers.
