  1. Hi All I am not a great fan of the LC200 as my first one (GXL) used a lot of oil and was never fixed after 3 years. The new 2013 Sahara model I fitted a genuine Toyota alloy bull bar and due to the design the front parking sensors which I believe are also on the VX move from the front to the sides so you can run straight into a brick wall without alert. Obviously you would'nt but I used the sensors to get my LC200 into my garage which is a tight fit so getting in as close to the front wall essential. Spoke with Toyota and yet again they are ignoring the fact that they have yet another issue with this vehicle. Consumer affiars agree that there is a problem but they can only "ask" the parties to help out and Toyota have said no to that as well. The sensors move from the origianl bumper from the front to 150mm around the side of the bull bar and definetly don't work forward. I know some will say why buy another but I thought about all the other models out there and the LC200 is the only one I would trust to tow my 24ft van around Australia. It just does not seem right whe you spend $85K on a GXL and it uses more oil that diesel ans then buy a $120k Sahara and fitting a genuine Toyota bull bar and the front parking sensors no longer work towards the front! Has anyone else had the same problem and complained to Toyota because they say I am the first.......yer right! So off to Court I go!
  2. THe only thing that will fix this problem is too:- Call the dealer noting date and time explaining the problem exactly & how you think it should be resolved even if you have no knowledge of mechanics state you want "X" fixed because & 'Y' fixed because. As an example under the stat warranty it should be fixed. Write them a letter ensuring you have the date on the letter and outline the 'faults' clearly and how you think they should be resolved. As above. In the same letter offer them 14 days to resolve the matter & write back explaining what action they are takin (don't get it verbally must be in writing (e-mail, letter) or you will be taking further action under the statutory warranty act. Be nice and friendly and see what happens? Once in writing they will have to respond or the Courts/motoring body will see this in a poor light in the way you have been treated by the dealer. Oh course most people think it gets to hard and never do what I have said and they rely on this. It's a easy way to get a wrong righted. Hope this helps?? Geoff
  3. Hi all just found the site and looks great. Ok now down to the issue you have been discussing about the LC200 using oil. I have been fighting with Toyota for over 2 years about this issue and mine is suppose to be the worse in WA using around 600ml per 1,000 last time I got Toyota to add oil. Toyota are about to tell everyone that oil consumption is normal from 1 litre per 8,000klm normal driving but if you do the speed limit, or tow something regardless of weight, or drive to slow using 4wd then TOYOTA are calling this and I quote their "Dealer Hand Out January 2011" "Severe Conditions". This then means that YOU may have to pay for the oil which you could use 1 litre every 5,000klm. So guys it looks like Toyota don't still have a fix and hundreds of us hard working Ozzies have been done by buying this model at this stage. Don't get me wrong I love mine it out performs everything in 4wd land, but at what cost to the motor which uses truck loads of oil.....and WHY?? Hopefully all those that have had problems will make a post at my site which I have started because of the arrogance of Toyota to fob me and hundreds of others off. In the next week or two some annoyamous person has said they will "secretly" e-mail me the internal memo from Toyota....that will be interesting to read and I will post it up for all to see if I get it? Anyway hopefully "Admin" here will give me a genuine go and leave my post I have read the terms and I have not breached any membership issues that I am aware of? If anyone wants to contact me direct email me (yes it's actually real) ohwhatalemon@hotmail.com or see the site I made at www.ohwhatalemon.com Thanks for reading and I hope for all our sakes we have not bought a LC200 LEMON?? Regards Geoff
