  1. Did you try the 'hit it with your fist' method? If that doesn't do anything and you know how to pull things apart, it may help to pull it apart and make sure everything is looking good, otherwise it may be time for a new unit. Aftermarket eBay ones go for cheap these days.

Thanks for the reply. I haven't tried hitting it yet :P will do tomorrow. I really don't have time to pull it apart ay, besides, I'm not very technical when it comes to car parts so if fist doesn't work and Unit doesn't fix it self then I guess I'll buy another.

Any good ones you would recommend? There are too many to choose from on ebay.

  2. Hey guys, has anyone experienced similar issue with the OEM CD Player? All the lights are out except for the main screen but that displays weird characters on it, you can't understand anything. Every now and then the main screen also turns off for about a minute so when I was driving earlier, it was really dark in my car (yes, headlights were on lol)

Here is the picture of the problem

    photo1.jpg

Is it worth fixing or just buying an aftermarket unit? I never dealt with anything like this before.

All the buttons work etc just the lights and the screen is the issue.

    Thanks for your time.

  3. I would like to take this opportunity to direct you to the FAQ's which are pinned to the top of this forum. In that thread, you will find the following:

    The TOCAU Aurion FAQ

    Q) My Aurion makes a clunk / knock sound when driving off for the first time after starting it. Is this a problem?

This is not an issue. Every time you start your engine and then drive off the ABS performs a self-check. The service manual best describes this:

When the vehicle speed first becomes approximately 4 mph (6 km/h) or more after the ignition switch is turned on (IG), each solenoid valve and motor of the brake actuator is sequentially activated to perform an electrical check. During the initial check, the operating sound of solenoid valve and motor can be heard from the engine compartment, but this is not a malfunction.

Wow thanks for this man. I've had my car for about a month now and I've been wondering what this annoying sound was coming from the boot. lol this explains it all. :)

  4. I get between 13-14L around town on BP ultimate with NO traffic just suburban driving, and up to 14.5L on regular. I don't boot it everywhere either, actually I'm very sedate. Those are the figures from the trip computer though if that has any effect?

Changing spark plugs and oil fairly soonish once they arrive and I get some free time, hoping that helps things. I run around 36PSI in the tyres.

Only thing I can assume for my "economy" is larger I'm a heavy ****d lad (125kg), with a few stereo amplifiers in the boot. Looking at other people's figures here I would still have assumed I'd get at least 12L per 100km.

***** sucks, all my cars end up chewing more fuel than they should. I bet if I bought a Nissan Leaf I'd still chew petrol <_<

That's alot of fuel. How many kms has your car done? I just clocked over 45,000 mark and around Gold Coast (traffic lights + heavy traffic) I get about 9.9 - 10.2 average and highway use goes down as low as 6.8 using 98 octane. I haven't seen mine go past 11.1L and I'm being honest. My tyre pressure is around 37 - 38psi.

  5. Great job on her! She looks clean!

Thanks man. Your Ford is outstanding too.

D/W about the rear plate - you'll get used to it, I thought the same thing when I put my slimlines on and a few people also commented that way, in that there is a lot of surrounding space. But I love them now and the way they look so the gap doesn't look odd to me anymore :) When gold is polished and waxed and sparkling believe me, people won't be paying much attention to the space around the numberplates!

Good luck with the parkers too, unless you have very small hands the best bet is to take the front bumper off, which isn't actually as scary as it seems. You just have to be careful when it comes off not to let it go or pull too far because of the fog light cable still being attached, so you just need to unclip that if you want to move the bumper further out of the way. There are a few how-to guides on here, if you do a search they should come up, I'm sure it was Daryl (DJKOR) who made a thread in the Aurion forum that had some pictures in it. I'm at work atm but can have a search for you when I get home tonight.

I got use to the slim plate now. Doesn't bother me anymore :)

I'll leave parkers for later. Don't have any time atm. In the mean time they will sit in my glove-box lol.

    real nice car...great colour...go the gold ;0)

Thanks alot man. One question if you don't mind? Hows do coilovers compare to standard suspension? Do you lose ride quality at all? And how low can you go with the springs since they are 'adjustable'?

  6. Nice car man. Colour is different, I like it.

I only had my car for 2 1/2 weeks too :D so far all I did is HID conversion. Massive difference in night driving.

Maybe sound system? Wheels? Suspension? I bought the bright white LED parker lights too, waiting for someone to install them for me as Toyota makes it so damn difficult to access the bulbs. My next purchase will be gps/dvd to replace current 6cd stacker.

Hope that gives you some ideas.

  7. So Concord Customs has told me that my front airbags had to be custom made to make them handle the extra weight of the Aurion so its gonna be after Easter when they get installed

Are they going to charge you extra for that?

  8. Eye lids I got em from Thailand, Rstyle.

If only you were around earlier, I bought 4-5 spare sets to spare for members here who would be interested.. Now they're gone.. :P

Austin Stone cold Steve Austin? Yea, as long as not that ***** jericho. :D

Damn man, should have saved a set incase a new member comes along and needs one haha =] nah all good. Rstyle? is that from ebay? Sorry I didn't have time to search, too busy with work etc.

And yes, stone cold, none of that Jericho sh!t lol

Great looking plates Alex :D Definite shame that you're not some kind of immortal though

Hope to see this up at the QLD Annual meet, although I have a job interview tomorrow and if I get the job I won't be getting the leave :( (4 weeks notice to current job would bring me to end of May, can't expect to work 1 week at a place then take 2 weeks off...) But if that's the case I will come up later in the year instead! That way we can take lots of pictures, drag Steven along too and get 3 gold cars together :D

Why thank you. I keep thinking about the back plate. It could have been a thicker one but can't change anything now. I just need to polish the car after all this rain is over.

I don't think I'll be able to go to annual meet. I'll see how I go with work etc.

Def. organise something for later in the year. I'll be keen for some photos with your car and Steven's.

God, last time I went for a cruize/meet up was in 2006 with all the holden bogans :D lolol

My LED parker lights have ARRIVED! I tried installing them and gave up. God I am useless when it comes to cars, really. I had to get a mate to help me with a HID install too. Just not a labour person :( I gotta find someone to do it for me. Arghhh

  9. I wouldn't bother with a sunroof. I have one from the factory and I virtually never use it, and it lowers your interior roof lining a fair bit. Money better spent elsewhere

I guess you're right. When I have 2k to spend, I'll probably go with something else too.

    You talkin about me? :D

Unless you get a small tip, you can fit in there, but I wouldn't suggest it. You wouldn't be 100% satisfied.

Sunroof is a matter of preference really... I like it.. So what's the 316 on the plate?

Yeah VF-X, that was you. You had your wheels stolen too? Those tips looked amazing on your car man. It's too much effort for me to do that unfortunately. 316 came from back in the day when I use to watch wrestling :D Austin 316 was my fav. wrestler so 316 stuck with me. I was going to put 085 (year of birth) but too many people have that.

btw, where do you get eyelids from?

  10. i like how the colours of the no. plates fit in with the colour of the whole car.

Thanks man. I didn't think it was going to look as good either.

    +1. Looking good mate! :D

    Thanks man :)

What I was thinking is maybe putting a twin exhaust tip. I don't know how good it would look though. One member here did it and it looked awesome but he had to cut through the back bumper first. Any way I can avoid this? Or should I just leave it as is?

Another mod I was interested in is Sunroof. This will be my long term one, it's around $2,000 from a Brisbane based company. Anyone else did a sunroof or know of someone that had one done?

  11. Nice, plates are looking good. Looks like you may need to clean up the back one a touch, just where the marks are under the slimline plate otherwise I reckon it will go rather well.....wish I could get slimlines but the combination I'm looking at wont allow it dry.gif

Oh so your not 316 years old? unsure.gif And here I was thinking we may have a vampire member spiteful.gif

Thanks man. Yeah I need to clean up the back of the car, infact, I need to buy cut n polish and do a proper clean. Been so damn busy lately it's insane. I'll do it either monday or tuesday. Sorry to disappoint on being a vampire member :)

  12. Hey guys! My personalised plates have arrived :D :D

Before I post pictures, I'd like to say that New Registration fees are very expensive. I bought the car from NSW so I had to do a complete new vehicle registration here in QLD. It ended up costing me $770.00 for stamp duty + another $350 for 6 months registration. I wasn't expecting it be that high but anywho, it's done. So with plates and rego I ended up paying around 1.5k. Oh well, it's worth every penny :D

    IMG_0467.jpg

In this photo, lights look green for some reason

    IMG_0468.jpg

I think I could have gotten thick plate for the back. It seems to me there is alot of empty space but it'll grow on me

    IMG_0469.jpg

And lights appear normal again, 6000k power ;)

    IMG_0470.jpg

Before anyone comments, yes I do take crappy photos :D

About the plate; Aleksandar is my name, so ALX suits it. 316 is from WWF. Yes I use to watch wrestling as a kid and I loved stone cold hence 316. I also have a hotmail account since 1998 and it has 316 in it so I thought why not. Oh and I'm not that old now, only 25 :)

I'd love to attend the Brisbane meet one week so someone can take a better picture for me. haha

Sorry i'm a bit late but welcome to the club mate.... :toast:

You're right man, cheers. It's a great place with some great cars :)

nice choice in car Alex, welcome to the club, we lookforward to your input on the forum. Any planned mods for the ZR6?

Thanks man :) As you might have read, I just spent 1.5k so my modding will stop for a little while. I did however order the LED parker lights (white) to suit the 6000k HID. My next item on the list is a DVD/GPS headunit. They are fairly cheap on Ebay. I don't know about suspension/wheels yet. I had my old VX commodore lowered and it ruined the comfortableness of the car. Coilovers I'd go for but they are bit too much for me atm. I'll see. I'm quiet happy with the way it looks now though. I also don't want to get 19s and not touch suspension, if you know what I mean.

  13. Couple more pictures from tonight. Just random HID shots :)

    IMG_0449.jpg

    IMG_0453.jpg

I'm very impressed. Much better than my old VX :D

Another thing I'm impressed is the fuel consumption. It's outstanding. When I was driving from Sydney to Gold Coast I was averaging 6.8 - 7L per 100km. Since then, I been driving around the coast and it hasn't exceeded 9.2L. Is this normal? I heard average is 9.9 but most people are hovering around 10.5L. Will the number go up? I'm curious.

  14. Nationals - http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=31422

Also we have a weekly meet here in Brisbane on Thursday nights if you ever find yourself on this side of the border and want to drop by

    http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=27430

Cheers for that. I probably won't be able to make it to Nationals due to work but I have every Thursday night off so I can come to the meets in Brissie. I'll post in that thread :D
