  1. Regrettably, this is a very common problem with the LC200 diesels. I bought mine with 65000k on the clock and yes, it uses oil. The dealer acknowledges this as excessive and so does Toyota, but mine is out of warranty so I will probably foot the bill. The problem is in the scavenge pump, a seal or something, and most were fixed for free. They looked at oil pump and it did not have the "white dot" on the pump so it had missed out on the modification! I am still waiting for my dealer to "get back to me" after contacting Toyota warrany assist. Good luck with yours. PS. I just love the truck and don't mind pouring in a litre of oil now and again! Small price to pay for an awesome truck.
  2. I'm fitting a reversing sensor kit that needs a positive power feed off the reversing lights. Does anyone know where I can find a wire to the reverse lamps, well, short of using a can opener? The reversing lights on an LC200 are on the tailgate which is not easy to wire off. Does anyone know an easier way to pick up a positive lead? There is a connector in the jack compartment on the right hand side that feed the tail lights. (This is a great spot for the sensor electronics box). I checked as best as possible and it seems it just feeds the lights on the main body, not the tail gate. I traced all those wires with a meter. Parkers, brake lights and indicators etc. No, it's not the blue wire! Maybe it's time to buy a workshop manual. Cheers,
  3. Hi There, Owned an 80 series auto, 1997 model for 8 years and never had economy that bad even with out caravan on! Worst was 20lt/100k towing our 1500kg van. Usual was 15-16lt/100k without van. A thirsty beast anyway but worth checking injectors and breathing etc.
