  1. Just about to put Goodyear efficient grip SUV 19 255 55 on my Kluger as well.

The OEM tyres last 55K - but are badly worn on the edges. If I had got more wheel alignments they might have lasted a little longer.

I will let you know how the Goodyears go.

    Kind regards

    Hado

how did your goodyear tyre go...Are they good compared to OEM bridgestones

  2. Hi All,

Please let me know the best replacement for original OEM bridgestone(245/55/R19) based on your experience. It only confuses me when looking through different brands.looking for higher performance interms of wear, wet and dry grip.

  3. Hi Sam,

I just went through this with my KX-R. Ended up getting a set from Seat Cover World (how corny is that?), through my local parts mob. I haven't had time to fit them up properly yet, but throwing them on they seem to fit fine. Only front and middle rows are supplied, but the rears will only be used rarely on mine, so that's no drama. http://www.seatcoverworld.com.au/fabric/custom-fit/toyota/toyota-kluger.html

They're quite close to the original fabric in looks and appearance, much better seat covers of old, and are fully airbag compatable.

Cost was a few coins short of $200. According to the bloke behind the counter, the rears are a swine to fit, nothing wrong with the covers, just a design feature of the Kluger  . After Christmas, I'll give it a go...

How did you go with the seat covers, are they came with self adhesive straps or ties made in clothes..Please let us know your experience,

  4. Hi Mate,

I need your opinion on Bridgestone Ecopia H/T EP850 and Goodyear efficient grip SUV tyres(245/55/R19).Is there any other tyres available for 70% city and 30% offroad pattern.Your advise would be appreciated.

  5. Hi Pete , congratulations on your new purchase , your gonna love it!

When i brought my KXR 6 weeks ago , i looked at getting the originals fitted as well and like yourself was quoted the mid $800 range.I decided just to shop around and see what Ebay had to offer , and finished up getting my set from a firm in QLD called Everest .For the kluger they have 3 different styles you can get , the set i got (including postage by courier) set me back $315.

I was also worried about doing modifications to a brand new car and was please to say that non was required. If you look under your car you will see rows of black plugs , these just pop out and the brackets fit into these holes.Im not a skilled person and have very limited collection of tools and stuff , but all i needed was 2 wrenches a pair of pliers and a flat head screw driver.

When the time comes if you get yours , let me know and im happy to explain in better detail how its done.Just briefly i can say the 1st side took the longest , about 1/30 hours , while the 2nd side just took 30mins.The kit comes fully supplied with every thing you need of course , but i actually had to buy an extra 12 washers to help adjust a bracket that would'nt quite sit flush.

I do like the nudge bars , and rear bars as well and may look at getting them too at a latter date.

    Cheers Dan :)

    Hi Dan,

I checked Everest website and i could n't find a side step(similar to the one toyota offers) that suitable to current model on their website. One of them which is similar shape to the toyota model says suitable for 2007-2011 model and price is $320.Could you please send me a link of the same side steps which you purchased from Everest which i could use to place an order.

    Your advise would be appreciated,

    Kind Regards

  6. Today i finished installing my after market side steps , in conjunction with the driving/ fog lights .The KXR looks great now and im pleased with the outcome.

I was going to attach a picture here , but not sure how its done?

    Thanks Dan :)

  7. Hi All,

where could i find a long range fuel tank for kluger, did someone already try a long range fuel tank/multi tank on your kluger.Does this have any effect on car insurance policy or MVR legislations.

Your advice would be highly appreciated

  8. @ TPL thanks!

Leather protector - any particular brand? I saw bowden's leather love and leather guard online. Has anyone used them before? http://www.bowdensown.com.au/interior-car-care

Exterior - mothers brand steps 1-3, saw it in the internet as well as the RainX.

Dashboard and door trims protector - any particular brand?

Automatic CarWasher - are they not advisable? I heard the machines soft brushes are not good for the exterior.

with our older car, we use both the automatic machine and the coin operated "manual you wash, you soap" kind of stuff ($2 for each cycle - pre wash, soap, rince, etc..)

@ KRX and AVC40R, thanks! - any brand of the shampoo? as for the internal/external plastic, what brand are you using? we prefer cost effective ones. and Yes, the car is garaged.

Thanks for the tips on the bonnet and headlamp protector. We're thinking of getting a towbar few months from now, any suggestions? Toyota will charge heaps so we're looking for someone to buy it/do it from. Im not sure if we can do it ourselves though cause it seems you have to cut-out some portion of the rear bumper (im not sure if im using the right term here).

Fuel - is 91 OK? or should go 98?

Cross Bar and Basket/Tray - plans to get it later. What will be a good brand? I saw Rhino, toyota, etc... on ebay. As for the tray, any brand will do?

I saw this, im not sure if any good though but its surely cheap.

The rhino roof rack is quite expensive!

Obviously, the roof rack will be used for extra storage, luggage if ever we will use the 3rd seats.

    Thanks everyone!

    Hi Mate,

Welcome to Kluger family and enjoy driving your new Kluger,

I have been driving an AWD Grande for the last 12 months and I have been using U95 in my Kluger with 41PSi on tyres and the feeling is really good. I have tried both U91 and U98 and I felt U 95 is the way to go. (I believe all Klugers are factory tuned for U91 and will get better economy if we use U91)

Also I preferred rubber floor mats over the carpet mat which assists me to easily clean the mats with water always. Most of the time we use automatic no-contact premium car wash from our dealer and the results are amazing. Further i put extra seat covers to protect my leather seats from scratches and it’s really good if you have kids.

Please update us about your Kluger,

    Cheers

  9. Bro as I mentioned on your another post. From 245 to 255 there's about 1.4% increase in tyre size. So you might feel there's a bit of fuel increase. Let's do the math.

Stock 245/55/19 - One tank say 70litre on 10litre/100km = You get 700km. (e.g say from VIC to NSW)

Now 255/55/19 - One tank 70litre on 10litre/100km = you get 689km (Still from VIC to NSW covered the same distance but due to less tyre roll u get less kms on your odometer.

    hope my calculation is correct.

Sorry i did n't see your reply before and i did n't notice you specified using Kumho tyres on your vehicle.Discard my quote on other post.So i will change my tyres to 255/55/19 to feel the stability....

    Cheers

  11. Driving Track means nearby road or Round ab't.My dealer has enough space here for a drive test even round ab't behind their service yard....So ignore my comments if this is not the case with most of the dealers...What i meant is dealer could look the issue in detail before they make blind steps...in this case they broke the drive shaft which could have been avoided and repaired if they checked it first instance and saved few dollars....

    Go home, you're drunk!

  12. I didn't say take legal action, get a legal opinion thats it ,better than seeking comments and suggestion from friends if he thinks dealesr are responsible. Some one can advise me what happens during test drive if they end up in a vehicle break down due to tyre puncture or an accident ,do we responsible for towing the vehicle back to their centre?

  14. "it started making a grating noise 5 days ago, when turning right (full turn)."

You are right, but my opinion was merely based on the above statement, the client already informed them about the complaint and what they actually need to do is first carefully listen client’s concern and act on it.In this instance they should have checked the vehicle by taking a full right turn with the car on their driving track/parking space...

I have a similar bad experience with dealer representative's attitude. When I approached them with my brand new Kluger for a rear DVD rattle noise which felt to me like a loose fixing issue with the actual DVD mounting panel came from factory and that causing the noise issues. When I informed the same to the dealer rep ,they asked me to book my vehicle for a test drive. They took several test drive of my vehicle and informed its fixed .But soon after I drive past their centre I started hearing the same noise from DVD panel. After this incident I took my vehicle at least 4- 5 times for the same complaint and each time they did the same test and advised me they cannot do anything further. When I questioned about the mounting panel they even started arguing with me by saying that they are experienced engineers. At last I managed to make a complaint to Toyota Australia and through the complaint service the Toyota representative came and fixed the issue after his second attempts .At 1st attempt he advised my dealer to change the DVD player but that also failed to fix the exact issue and in the second attempt he advised them to remove the actual mounting panel and put some more inserts to the mounting face which actually resolved the issue to 99%.( This was the same thing which I informed them at the beginning).

  15. Take it to get a legal opinion as the problem was already reported by you to the dealer and with out inspecting it at the first instance they took it for a test drive far away from the work shop .They should have done this test drive with in their premises. Also check whether any recall on this issue or something related to this issue from Toyota during the past.

  16. Is there a problem with car insurance If i change my tyre from 245/55/19 to 255/55/19. Does any one know the expected increse in fuel consumption with this change .

    could some one advice me.
