my old transmission I guess going by bashboard k's it did 453.000 k's before packing it in. in saying that, was the auto clutch that stuffed up not the whole box
but I got a better box and replaced it rather then fixing the the auto clutch in the box :)

sorry about that, I did end up buying a Service/Workshop Manual online for my self
and it's in the form of .ISO and only works on Windows XP 32Bit or before.
I am happy to share it if someone can tell me a place I can upload it to
and I will post a link to it as well.
Size of file is about 1Gb

Hi mate
Changed mine in my 1992 Tarago not so long ago.
It seams Toyota use the same plugs on all there head unit players
and for $15 you can pick up a adaptor pack from super cheap to suit any aftermarket head unit's.
if you want to cable it in your self then have a look at this

I found a place in Sydney that are the best,
$250 for a 2Nd hand box with only 55,000K's on it
Installed for me for $400...
I was quoted $700 for box, labour plus parts, but was changed/billed only $674 once all finished
The bloke's there were awesome and fun to talk to.
Best part was in my 1992 Tarago now has a 1999 Esima auto gearbox with 55,000K's in it
They had to chnage wireing and some other parts to make it fit, but it work perfect..
The blokes speak very very clear english and over the phone I thoght thay were Aussie's.
If anyone is looking for doors guards motors or gearboxes for any model Toyota
I would suggest calling this guy as he has a hug wherehouse with old and new model parts.
On his card is this

I hope I didn't over step the line by putting his contact details on the forum!
Just try to help others.

Automatic transmission Gear box stuffed up today... anyone know where I can buy one '2nd hand' around the Sydney NSW area?
I was driving and noticed the gears sticking between 3rd and over drive and as time went on she started to slip
so I got some fluid to top up the Auto but on the dip stick it now read's as over full.
None the less it helped for a short time maybe 30 minutes and then started doing it again.
got worse and worse untill I have no gears at all, So I stopped to let the bus cool down for
about 1 hour and tried again, It was working again for about 20 minutes then started slipping
again but this time I lost my gears much faster.
I called road side assistance and they said it is my Auto clutch and I need to get it fixed by an
automatic transmission repair shop.
Anyone else have this happen and can I fix it my self, I am old school and like to do repairs my self.
I only got my 1992 Tarago about 2 months ago and already spent alot of time cleaning her up
and fixing things, She still needs alot of TLC but I am happy with the bus.
have a look at my youtube vids if your interested in having a look at things I already have done. :D

I have a 92 Tarago as well, got it 2 months ago and needed allot of TLC but I am also very happy with it.
I changed all my front lights about 3 weeks ago as I like the blue tint look when I have my lights on
and for me all I had to do was take the head light out to get to 1 screw holding the lens on and pull
the parker light out of it's place, very easy to do. I don't know about 4 bolts under the guard but it's
good you worked it out...

Hi Fran
I can't help you out to much as I only just got my first Tarago GLX 92 but I might be able to help a little
also - can anyone help with my following q'si'm wondering if the moon roof in back should slide all the way open .....and if it don't could it be modified to do so? ...i'm really not at terms with not being able to open back windows and/or get in lots of fresh air (want to camp in it).....
also - i still hav my 1987 tarago that has a roo-bar and am wondering if i could take it off n get it put onto this one?
also - anyone know bout roof racks? ,,or at least some kind of strip that could be added onto side of roof so i could clip an annexe on?
Moon Roof: Mine opens all the way, The idiot who had the van before me didn't love her so I wouldn't think it's been mooded to make it open all the way.
might help to put some track oil on the tracks and open and close it a few times to work the oil in.
Roo-Bar: I took my bar off and put it on my dads 89 Hiace, good chance it will fit but I don't really know if it will!
Roof Racks: for your 1987 Tarago you would be looking for something like this http://www.ebay.com....=item2a1d31ad3b I would imagine!

Have you thought about getting a cd with software that you could un-lock this your self
http://www.ebay.com/...=item35bc0fe0a2
For under $10 I would be trying it, could save you allot time effort and money

Yes well where I was living in the southern highlands is a very cold part of Australia. I moved 6 months ago and need to do another oil change soon.
Where I was the weather would be at it's highest 25 and would get to -5 at night however most days would be between 15 in the day and 5 at night
I only use recommend oils from what the manuel tells me. 15-40 is what I have always used but I could also have used 10-40 or 15-50
any of them would be fine,
