  1. I presumed neither L&B or Terry Sheilds were out of pocket for this work, I mention it because the repair was described by L&B as a Toyota TNF 87/10 as mentioned also by Newbie. This should be proof that it is a workmanship problem and should make Toyota liable even out of the factory warranty period...there have been so manty examples of this model showing this fault over the last 10 years. Hope it works out okay for you.
  2. I've had an SX6 from new - 2012 and the diff noise appeared after about 10,000km. Lean and Bennett are my nearest dealer and performed most of the scheduled services on the vehicle. Its now done 39,000km. After I read about this fault on this Forum I flagged the noise at every service and at the 40K service L&B arranged for Terry Sheilds, Parramatta to rectify the problem. They did this quickly and efficiently entirely free of charge. The vehicle, already very quick and smooth is like a new model - eerily quite, responsive and smoother still. There must have been a lot of other noises being produced by the dud diff/gear box. Combined with a new set of MIchelin Latitude tyres the improvement is amazing. Half the noise levels of the original Bridgestones which must be the cheapest tyres Toyota could source... All in all a very surpising response from Lean and Bennett and Toyota. Full marks to them. Almost enough to prompt me to buy another Toyota!

    Sat Nav map updates?

I've discovered a third party site (Eclipse) that looks like it sells a 2012 map set for the Toyota AVN827GA Fujitsu10 Sat Nav in the RAVs for $119, a lot better than Toyota's $299. https://eclipse.naviextras.com/shop/portal/catalog?salesPackageCode=60565&view=item&page=1&type=100&area=25

    Sat Nav map updates?

Thanks u54 but the Toyota nav unit in my SX6 needs an SD card...it won't even read a DVD... Not your fault of course but $295 is also such a rip off when all we want is the updated data, not the whole map base. Tom Tom and Garmin now update for free... Thanks again
  5. Yikes, I've had a 2012 SX6 since new and I'm just noticing a whine in the transmission at about 50kph...
  6. While I like my 2012 SX6 a lot it has the awful Toyota "Sat Nav" unit in it, has anyone ever managed to source from Toyota an update for the Maps in this device? They were out of date (2010) when the car was new and are becoming increasingly unreliable. Toyota seem to have no idea.
  7. Hi all, I have an 2012 SX6 and I can only estimate the consumption but I think its around 10-11L/100km mostly up and down the Blue Mountains... my wife's 2011 Impreza gets about 8.5L/100km but she's light footed...all I can do is estimate because Toyota in their wisdom or meaness didn't fit any kind of Consumption/Trip computer to this $45k vehicle! Incredible when a $15K Hyundai's computer can tell you what phase of the moon it is and the grade of fuel you're using! Speaking of trip computers etc this vehicle has the awful Toyota "Sat Nav" unit in it, has anyone ever managed to source from Toyota an update for the Maps in this device? They were out of date (2010) when new and are becoming increasingly unreliable. Toyota seem to have no idea. Basically it's a great vehicle although switchable full time 4WD would be a huge improvement but all in all its a beauty.

    Tyre Pressure

Personally I feel tyre fitters and service shops always over inflate tyres, especially on SUVs. I keep my 2012 RAV SX6 18" tyres inflated to the recomended 30psi. I don't care if the tyre life is slightly lower and the fuel use is very slightly higher, comfort on our appalling Blue Mountains local roads is my highest priority. An extra 8psi makes the ride really twitchy and hard.
  9. Hi, has anyone gone through the process of updating the SD card maps in a current RAV4 SatNav? The Sensis map version that came with the car is 2010 ver.Q3 whatever that is. Sensis have no idea and Fujitsu are no better. Toyota just don't seem to know! I think its pretty cheeky to supply a map set that's a year or more out of date in a new vehicle...
