  1. well as some of you know im now without lift

bought a hilux as planned then wrote it off a few weeks later

after some shifting of our finances i found a few grand spare to buy a newer hilux in better nick even enough to buy my missus a new subi imprezza rs.

i wanted to buy an evo for so long but after thinking about it.........why?.......strange as it is i wish i hadnt sold my stivo if id just held on i could of had the hilux and enough money to fix the things that bugged me with the car just a bit more power an lsd and a stronger rear engine mount would have made it so much better to drive

  2. TJ was this last night and it was facing the wrong way?

I came past straight after it happened and was trying to figure out how it happened... did you see it?

Spotted you out the front of Tracksides turning onto showground rd the other night as well

    yeah it was

which one did you mean the rolla just skidded across the road and ran head on into the wall and bounced straight back i saw that one.

the commodore looked like he was trying to go sideways off showground road and just spun out i just missed seeing that one.

yeah youd see me round there quite a bit i work at the tav these days i didnt see you though lol must've been dark

  3. We have a Ford falcon station wagon as a work car and its absolute rubbish. Its the newest car on the field but we are already facing alot of dramas, makes the old toyota hilux look so much better (given that is probably 15 years older)!! We also have an older falcon wagon, but I'm happy to push it into a creek if I wouldnt' get in trouble with it...lol

yeah the new series falcons arent that great really but they all end up old dunger ex taxi's anyway

  4. lets face it the tradeoff of the corolla becomming very reliable is keeping it simple and......bland really its got the styling there to be a really good looking car it just needs to get on the roids.

the focus is **** always has been **** only thing going for it is that hot orange and the roar it makes as you give it some hell but the motor is out of a volvo t5 so itll last about 2 years of hard thrashing as most euro stuff does.

the tdi golf has some serious go for a diesel i used to service a few of them under contract if it wasnt for the noise youd swear it was a turbo petrol motor but even they have some serious issues i can forsee as ive had to refer a few of them back to vw mainly for eccessive oil consumption.

i dont know about those astra vxr's the astra has never had a rep as a well built car all theyve done is shove a warmed 2l turbo up its nose poor effort

  5. but why Toyota didn't have this throughout all the models in the first place, is the frustrating bit

cause itd cost extra on top of the price yadda yadda you know how it is

good to see so many people giving it a go never thought itd be so popular lol! guess ill have to come up with another diy

  6. sure sounds like a thrust bearing to me mines the same and its been that way near 60,000 k's and it hasnt failed just is a bit noisy if a mechanic told me the noise was gear roll over id knock him out only cause i know thats bull****

you can replace your throwout bearing possibly even the clutch if you want to but i havent ive got 100,000 on mine now with the original clutch still feels good and doesnt slip.

if you are going to do it dont replace the rear main unless its actually leaking sounds stupid i know but seriously if its replaced its more likely to leak than if its left well alone and its rare they leak anyway.

  7. sorry if its been discussed before but i cant find answer...

    really simple question...

can i remove my 04 sportivo 2zz-ge ecu and replace with another exactly the same (to see if mine faulty)..without having to recode the ecu and transponder etc....????

i have been told that the new/replacement/spare ecu must be coded to the transpnder system?

when you buy a new key it has to be coded to the cars ecu or it wont work so i think the answer is obvious

  8. sounds like a possible air lock in the abs unit itself this happens sometimes certain vehicles need a person using a diagnostic device to open the solenoids in the abs unit whilst the pedal is held down and the nipple for that brake line opened to properly flush any old fluid or air through the system i know you need to do this on land cruisers not sure bout corollas.

its possible the brakes may never have been used to the extent that the abs system engaged before so if it is an air lock the mechanic isnt responsible cause it was already there just in a part of the braking circuit that was never used.

as stupid as it sounds making your abs do some work occasionally even if its not neccessary isnt a bad thing cause it cycles the fluid through the system also if theres a problem like this itll present itself before you really need your brakes.

also abs can work at low speeds so the guy may not have been driving very fast at all

  9. Being a mechanic I self service my car yes...

I've got 2 metal tool boxes and Roll Cabs at work and at home...

They are for tools only though...

All my oils, lubes and other bottles are stored on shelves...

    Tyres are stored in piles...

Having a cabinet that stored all of the above would be way too big in my opinion...

ditto easier to keep everything separate rather than in one cabinet

  10. Yeah, I've read good things about BC-Racing coilovers.. D2's on the other hand.. I've seen a mixed bag of feedback. With the negatives being quite scary.. one said that his coils dropped out when the car was lifted.. =\

?.........riiiiight well i have d2's 8th hand ones i dont know how many cars these have been in since daviboy's and the car they were in before that and so on.....

anyway yes they are clunky yes they are stiff yes they do get a knock in the pillow ball mount so you get a new one from d2 for 50 bucks and your done ive lowered my car to the point where the tyre isnt tucking gaurd but im running 215/40/17's why? cause they were free lol! anyway they grab on the gaurd lip going over bumps if i rolled them they would be fine

point is they arent that bad but if you want a soft ride dont get them

  11. yeah i realised about 5 seconds after i posted that they dont need to have the subframe removed just cant be bothered editing.

and i would get the flywheel machined if you can help it youd be better off also might be a good opertunity to rectify the stivo's cronic lack of an lsd

  12. yup that was me

was that you again on Tue evening? i waved to you but you didnt response

was that the day you were drivin next to me? i waved lol you werent looking though

btw i saw ya behind me yesterday i thought youd keep up lol!

yes that was me behind you, i was bit sleepy that day so i didnt chase you

i was a bit lively that day usually im dead tired sometimes falling asleep at the lights

  13. I got quoted $650 for a exedy HD clutch supplied and fitted. Just ring around and I'm sure you can find a good deal.

Where abouts in sydney? i got a good price for the clutch but everyone is charging like 600-700 for labour alone..

hmmm thats a wicked price i wonder dont you have to drop the subframe to do the clutch on these though?

i spose it all depends on that and if it can be changed without totally removing the box i did a camry yesterday i just pushed the box to the side

did you want the flywheel off cause i rekon i could do it if you just wanted an out and in clutch swap provided the flywheel stays bolted to the motor.

have you got a clutch to put in?

  14. spotted zze122 this mornin sorry dude woulda waved but i needed both my hands for the corner lol!

i spotted you few times in that area but i never catch u up coz you are too fast

ahh soz im usually just rushing to get to work on time hey didnt i see you in carlingford on penno road around 6 this afternoon?
