Hi Steve The original ticking sound was anytime but the series of knocking/thumping only happens after braking.

Recently my Prado started making an intermittent ticking noise (thought it was the a/c fan but not the case). This has now apparently developed into a knocking/thumping noise you can hear after you brake and come to a stop (thump/thump/thump/thump/thump). Even if you only move a few centimetres and brake you will get the series of thumps. Sounds a bit like the exhaust pipe vibrating/thumping but it is secure. The Prado appears to be running perfectly apart from this disconcerting noise/problem.
