  1. Coming along nicely...needs more low though :) although I couldnt help but notice that the profile seems awfully low for an 18. It could just be the camera doing it but yeah.

    That's what I thought too.

What tyre size are you running?

Ye the tyres are low profile. I think 240/40/18 I think. They look weird atm but at least the rims look nice I guess.

  2. It has been a while since my last update, but then again I did say this was going to be a SUPER SLOW progress thread. So recently I washed my car LOL. Nothing fancy......

And I also got a new set of shoes :D Now I know I was saying that I wanted the VIP style but its just so EXPENSIVE! And to be totally honest all I want is to modify my car to the extent where I feel cool while driving it. Just like I did with my Prelude. Anyway enough chit chat RIMS ARE ON!!!!

  3. I FIXED IT!!!!!!!!!! It was a pretty simple fix and a stupid mistake. So I noticed that when you lock the boot with the key. You can turn it so that the key slot is either vertical or horizontal, and when it's horizontal the boot lid pull in the car won't work. So all I did was turn it back from horizontal to vertical and WO LA! IT WORKED! Maybe try that Van?

  4. You got courage masasaki, had my car for bout 18 months and still haven't been game to pull the dash apart. lol. Next stop, wheel shop??

Hahaha but that's because I got experience man. I used to have a Honda Prelude. Took that apart bit by bit, installed parts inside and out and ye pretty much learnt the basics of how to disassemble a car and where to find the screws and clips and such.
  5. So haven't updated my progress thread for a few days now but this is what I've done to it so far. So I finally got around installing my rear reversing camera. It came free as a gift when I bought my head unit and some guy quoted me $250 to get it fitted. To be honest it was a pretty easy installation, At first I wasn't too sure how to take the kick plates off (I think they're called that) and stuff, but saw a similar tutorial on an older camry where they just pushed it up using a screw driver and it just popped off.

The only mistake that I did make was that some of the clips got stuck and I snapped one or two. Also I plugged the camera video feed into the wrong port, but other than all was good :D

I also got a new muffler installed on Wednesday because I wanted a little noise. So what I got done was I got my old muffler taken off and then got a new Lukey muffler that has similar functions to the varex where the valve opens and closes, but the only difference with the Lukey is that it opens up completely only when you give it some gas. I also got a 4" tip which actually fits the space and looks unnoticeable :)

  6. What happens when you turn the key in the lock, does it feel like it is connected to anything or turns freely? If the remote is working fine and not the key I would say that the rod from the barrel to the locking mechanism is disconnected, or one of the links in between. Retrace your steps and look between the barrel and mech and you will probably see the issue.

Not to sure man. I'll check it with a buddy of mine this weekend or something and see what happens, but at the moment everything is moving and in place, but I think there is this one wire that is loose and that's what I think is not allowing the trunk lid to open.
  7. Well I use the remote key too, really annoying how you have to pull it out and restart the car, I'm used to it now haha.

Only way is to buy a replacement cable, used from wreckers or new from Toyota parts.

Then take one end, tie together and pull it through to the other end. Hoping that works lol

I will hunt a cable down and try to fix , keep it touch

Gay.....so its just a normal fault? Or is it because I screwed it up?
  8. Well for me my cable somewhere along it stretched and can no longer open.

I just use the key lol

How do I fix that? Well I use my button on the key so it opens electronically but it's really irritating when the key is in the ignition and I have to take the key out press the boot unlock button and then start the car again. Any solution man?
  9. Not really a mistake, cheap ***** chinese camera one of the connectors was a bit funky. Would flicker on and off if i played around with the connectors, only noticed it through the car as i was playing with cords in the back trying to figure it out. Ended up snipping and just straight twist+tape everything lol

Two cameras, both with dodgy connector plugs... this is where quality control should come in haha

I don't actually understand what you just said but I'm glad you found your problem :D
  10. So when I was installing my rear view camera I had to unscrew a few things to pull out the rear back where the badge is to a point where I could wire the camera through one of the holes. This was on the left side btw. I didn't even tamper with the locking mechanism on the right. And now when I try and pull the trunk button on the driver side (Obviously I know) it won't open. Any ideas? Need photos?

That one....not really my taste. Would work better if you could delete the Toyota emblem and have the grill fill that area aswell. Oh well, they do exist :)

ED: This one looks ALOT better; http://www.ebay.com....#ht_2431wt_1037

IMO it looks ugly sorry. I like the one I have now, but thanks for the input :)

It's a shame you can't, you'd have to replace the whole front bumper as it is part of the front bumper lol.

Wow really? You can't just take it off just like that?
  12. I don't have a reversing camera, only a front camera which I installed. Is the AV cable plugged into the correct connections (screen/camera)? That is what I believe the screen showing plugs is about.

My front camera which uses a SD card has 3 connections (power, Video output, External GPS), so I would think that the rear camera would also have more then one connection to it. Recheck your connections at both the rear camera and screen.

Alright I'll run you down how its connected at the moment. So at the back is obviously the camera and that's connected to the av cord and I have already soldered the camera wires to the positive and negative wires on the reversing lights on the left side. Then wired it through the carpet and at the dash I have soldered this other wire to another wire labelled "BACK" on the ISO Cable and now it engages and the screen changes when in reverse, whereas before it didn't. But no signal........Any other thoughts ozz?
  13. Alright I'm not too sure whats happening with my reversing camera, but when I put it in reverse the camera lights up so I know its working and the screen automatically changes, but it doesn't show me what's behind me. Instead it shows me some plugs and the words "No Signal."

I have plugged in the AV cord, soldered the wire to the reverse cable in the front and the camera to the positive and negative cables to the rear reverse lights, but still nothing....Anyone come across this problem before?

  14. VIP style grill could go on your list too ;)

    Always loved that colour.

Really? I wanted either black, silver or white, but couldn't find any within my price range, plus this was the only one I could find that was sportivo and had leather interior :D There's a VIP grill? Never heard/seen it before :S

Ah, finally some pics! Good color man, nice and sporty. Slow progress is good, I have been making a slow progress on mine. New mufflers next :)

Haha I was going to lower my car on pedders, but have decided against it now. Gonna chuck them on eBay again.

Hahaha thanks five (I can call you that right?) Ye going to be slow for a while because I had to buy some tools for the car and little bits and bobs here and there and they're adding up so need to save now since once I go to uni won't have as much money free.
