  1. Thanks for the info Chad

1 &3) If you could test these it would be appreciated. I have the Follow Me II in my ZRE and the full 7" 4stacker in the Tarago. The Follow Me II mutes the CD (but pauses USB) whereas the 7" and my old factory 6 stacker pause. 7" displays folders the FM2 only displays track info (for MP3 on CD)

    2) 7" is very restricted when moving (including making calls) but FM2 has full function

    4) I was actually interested in the fit, FM2 is allegedly factory fit but this is really only width and not depth, it sticks out quite a bit

Once agin thanks for the response

  2. Does anyone have ant experience with the new single disc SatNav https://www.toyota.com.au/owners/accessories/audio-navigation

After realising my mistakes with a previous headunit purchase I decided to do some research before buying the next one

Does the unit pause CD playback or just mute it when receiving calls?

Is the passenger able to operate the Sat Nav whilst the vehicle is moving or does movement reduce some of the available functions?

Does the unit display folder names when playing MP3?

How smoothly does it fit into the dash (I am looking at it going into a ZRE hatch)?

Can you move around the map on the screen?

How well does the Bluetooth work (Blackberry and Nokia, not just i-Phone)?

I was hoping I could get some opinion from the forum rather than having to go down to a dealers and test a vehicle with ont in it

  3. The second post brings back some memories. The rear wing looks TTE/Toyota Motorsport and the wheels look like the TTE Pitlane. I had been speaking with a contact at TTE / Toyota Motorsport (who incidentally are now calling themself TMG http://www.caradvice.com.au/177944/toyota-launching-tmg-performance-sub-brand/ and making 400+kW Lexus http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1077098_toyota-and-lexus-to-get-tmg-performance-sub-brand) a couple of weeks before the article came out and he mentioned they had sent a few sets of the twin exhaust to Toyota Australia for testing.

I lived in hope that it would eventually come to Australia, no such luck.

  4. Finally ordered a set of 17 x 7.5s (and rubber) for the Corolla and as a few have said the TRD front lip doesn't look right with 16's and I will now have 17's, I picked up a TRD front lip.

Now to get the lip painted and fitted.

Had the new wheels and tyres fitted on the Corolla today.

    Speedy Cheetahs 17 x 7.5 with 225/45R17 Pirelli P-Zero Rosso's (they were only a few dollars more than RE002's)

  5. It's time to clean up the cars (and get my new front lip painted). Does anyone know of any good (and reasonably priced) repairers? I need to have quite a few stone chips and a couple of scrapes sprayed over, as well as getting the front lip for the Corolla painted and fitted.

My previous experience has all been insurance cases and so I haven't actualy known (or cared about) the price.

I am looking at either Blacktown, Parramatta, Castle Hill or Chatswood (or PM me any of the bad ones to avoid in these areas).

  6. one would think its not going to be easy.

firstly, the back panel to the levin controls just has one electrical plug, the other models have more cables.

secondly, the "auto" function will not work as it uses temp senors around the car to get the car to the desired temp. these would have to be installed in the other models.

Last, the change in the circulation mode (face, face&feet, etc) in the levin are motorised back to the controller unit............yeah no idea how that would interface on other models.

Personally, I wouldn't bother, but if you do go ahead, put up a step by step guide :)

One other factor on this is price, brand new you are looking approx $1600 for the panel and attached switchgear then there is all the sensors and controllers on top of that

  7. I guess I need to elaborate a bit more (and I also realised I hadn't mentioned which vehicle it was going into).

The system is for my Corolla I currently have Alpine Type R splits in the front and Type R coax in the rear doors. I am going through the process of deciding on a sub at the moment though it is looking like a Type S 12 inch. I was looking to keep it all Alpine and so would be looking at Alpine amps(s). I was wanting to put the amps under the seats, as the sub would take up a bit of boot space and I still need some space to carry luggage occasionally. I am looking for quality sound (at a reasonable volume) not something that will scare the people 3 streets away.

  8. I am looking to install a 12 inch sub in the Corolla (hatch) and I am trying to decide between an Alpine Type R or Type S or whether to go for the Type R thin (the rest of the speakers are Type R) and with regard to the amp whether to go for a 5 channel or a 4 channel and a mono (though that is addressed under a seperate topic). Headunit is currently the Follow Me II, I am waiting for the new Alpine models that are coming out mid to late 2012 (I don't like the lip on the 520, the 900 or the new 910).

Any help from those with knowledge would be appreciated.

  9. Speedy Cheetahs?

    cheetah.jpg

Very common design (most wheel manufacturers have a version), the Speedy version used to come in 4-stud (from 17" up though), not sure if they still do or are only in Falcon/Commodore patterns now.

Fairly sure they're all just a derivative of one of the classic BBS styles

The Speedy Cheetahs are available in a 17x7.5 4x100 with 45 offset

  10. Locally made 'foreign' beer.

I went to my local bottle shop to buy some German Beer and walked a way with a few singles I hadn't tried before because the ones I knew and trusted were now "brewed and bottled in Australia". What is the point of buying foreign beers if it's made here I might as well get Crown Lager. To top this off I got a gift pack from my sister of 10 beers of the world and again the German, Belgium and Italian beers were brewed here and even the Japanese beer was a "Product of Canada"
