Hi Kiwi-Red I found the answer with my problem, it was the solenoid contacts. They are replaceable at low cost aprox $20.00, and easy to replace. There are a number of different types depending on the model, but if you take the parts to an auto electrician they should be able to help.

Hi all. I am a newbie to this forum and have a problem with the starter motor on colder mornings, it will not turn over every time I try to start the car, after warmup it works fine. The engine is a 3400 v6 and has done 200,000 Km without a problem. I hope somebody can suggest a solution. Regards Mick
