Yeah 4wd are awful to have behind you or heading towards you. In the UK fog lights are yellow as yellow light cuts through the fog, the white ones like on the Stivo are called Driving lights, your allowed to use them any time as they just light your periferal vision, try it, drive at night and switch the little lights off and you will see a small difference, more around your car than anywhere else. I reckon thats a much better system but in Aus they like to book you for anything they can :(.

I always name my cars, my Mini was Ricky (Plates when I got it was RCK.839 or some number so we called it Ricky, I changed the plates later to EVL.078 but the name stuck), the liteace was beefa (as in b for bus) and my Lanos sport was Lenny, my Stivo is called Sammy :)

Hehehe the old weld job was what we did to a mates VB V8 Commodore, it was good for a couple of days then the weld went wrong and we got little bits clunking in the diff, it sounded horrific :P

"look: line lock here
quote"How it works-- The line-lock is nothing but a solenoid valve in the front brake lines which is energized (closes) on pressing the switch near the shifter.""
So it locks your front brakes as I said in my previous post
"that is a line lock. not some heal toe bs. and with the heal toe u do shread ur rear brakes. how can u not be if u are applying brakes and spinning the wheels at a very quik speed. if u ever done it and then tried to drive ur car at the limit you would know."
The line lock is simply sitting in the spot spinning the back wheels, the method is irrespective. now as I also said before, you do not have a high enough bias towards your rear brakes to do an real damage and you certainly would not "Shred" them.
"obviously you got no idea if u think the BEST car for this is a 1.8ltr van(http://www.nassco-barbados.com/html/liteace.cfm). "
Once again, please read my prior post, I said the best car "I" found, ie the best car I did it in ie if I had done it in some uber powerful beast v8 with a locker diff (For those not in the know, a locker diff will spin both rear wheels instead of an LSD differential which will slip only one wheel) I would probably think that was better.
That van took 5 years of torture from my brother and I BOTH being idiots and doing things like "Line lockers" in it and revving the guts out of it and it didnt even blow smoke by the time we handed it back.
You will note in my prior post that I have referenced your post where I am not 100% certain and said "Maybe it is a button in a drag car" please do me the same courtasy as your post is coming off extremely arrogantly with an attitude of "Im right so no one else has a clue" im not a fan of having that attitude directed towards myself, im not some inexperienced driver trying to gain browny points by pretending I know something I dont, im talking from the experience of my youth when I did stupid things like that and I think 5 years of punishment on a vehicle and NEVER having to replace the rear brakes speaks for itself they were in no way "shredded".
Respectfully.

that heal toe bs will work but will shread your brakes.
How will it, your car is not moving, that will do no damage to the brakes, your stressing your clutch on the launch, your revving the crap out of the motor and your killiing your tires but no damage to the brakes, there is not enough brakeing ratio on the back to even consider that it will do damage.
And yes, on drag car's there may well be a button but all its going to do is lock the front brakes. When someone said "I did a line locker" they are usually refering to the heal and toe method.
In such a case, the best vehicle I ever found for doing that was a toyota liteace, the motor is tough and has the torque to pull it off easily and the thing is so light in the back end that there is no probs getting it happening :).

A lot of cars you can buy performance computer chips, whats the mechanical drawbacks of someone developing a chip which shifts to high cam mode at 5000 instead of 6000???

Its not a button, its done by the driver with the heal and toe method, you put the right toes on the brake, the right heel on the accelerator and lift the left foot sharply off the clutch, presto, car stood still, back wheels spinning, in a front wheel drive, handbrake on, accelerator down, clutch up sharply, presto, car stood still front wheels spinning, easy to do, REALLY bad for your car. oh and in a front wheel drive its a little easier in reverse, if you do it in a forward gear it has a tendancy to drag its ***** along and move slowly.
I might stress, this is typically something you do when young and stupid and you do it in a $2,000 **** box that you don't care about, I would NOT even think of doing it in my beloved Sammy (Sammy the Stivo).

does any1 here acknowledge any stivo drivers when you see them or pass them?
Just wonderin...
eg: flash/hand gesture...
Yeah but they all look at me blankly as if to question my motive :(. For me it come from my days when I had my Mini as all Mini drivers used to wave to each other :)

I filled my tank halfway with Shell Optimax on the weekend and the car feels really slugish and less powerful hi cam mode and it doesent rev as smooth as before either. Could it be a bad batch of fuel coz it hasent happened before? What fuel do you guys recommend?
Caltex Vortex is my fave, I find it to give the best response :)
OK Guys... little help

I had a GREAT experience buying my car, they came out to my place after hours to look at my trade in and knew I could not afford to take a small price for it, 5 other dealers quoted 6 grand for my lanos sport (2 years old) Woollongong toyota gave me 11 Grand and it was out of rego. they gave me trade plates so I could drive it unregistered to them and they swapped the plates onto my stivo, gave me the keys and off I went. Since then they have called me 4 times to check im happy with the car and to impress upon me that ANY issue I have, tell them and consider it fixed straight away. The only problem I had though was the headlights needed adjusting, they took care of it.
These guys really pushed it to get the sale and im REALLY impressed to see that the service did not stop after the sale, they even sent me a letter with a couple of scratchies in and wishing me luck in winning enough to pay for the car. These guys are fantastic :).
The only time I received an equaly impressive service was when I crunched the lanos and AAMI took care of it for me, I have heard so many horror stories about AAMI but they really went above and beyond the call of duty for me, also giving me 2 follow up calls to check I was still happy with the repair.
It was my GF's advise to go out of Sydney to buy the Stivo and I really do not regret it, the service you get from somewhere that does not have masses and masses of business each day is brilliant, oh and the 2 to 3 month wait for a Stivo?? not for me, I tested it on the Sat, picked it up the Sat after :).
