Why not keep it?  For the costs you've outlined, you get a good reliable vehicle.

Our 21 year old Gli, bought new in 1994, is great in most respects but the original carpeting shows all the signs of 3 kids and a dog.

Now, no dog and the kids are the 20 something drivers, where might I be able to source a replacement carpet?

My youngest has recently turned 21. And so has our Tarago that was bought just before his birth.

Yes a one-owner, manual Tarago Gli. It succeeded two of the previous shape. We still have it, It shows no signs of packing it in. We have a serviceman whose wife also has the same model.

It doesn't owe us a thing and we will never willing part with it. It has ferried our family of 5 to camping trips with 3 bikes and all the gear INSIDE, or 4 bikes hanging on the back. It has carried half a cricket team and all their kits to and from matches. Definitely mum's taxi, but, show it the open road and off she goes with a relish (the Tarago or Mum?).

Just done a run from near Sydney to Mansfield in Vic, and back via many back routes including gravel, and it never looked like missing a beat. The original engine is till singing along. She asked for a new gearbox some time ago now (not as good as the original) and the shocks needed replacing, but the original Nipondenso aircon has never needed service.
