  1. Thanks mate. I figure I might get in and proactively change all three belts while I'm there. Aside from the obvious order of doing belts etc. are there any particular tricks and traps as regards AC compressor or PS pump?
  2. Noticed a whining noise when the wife started the car this morning. Double-checked, and it wasn't me. After she dropped me at work, she swung by a local mechanic, who reckons it's the alternator. Figure at it's age, I may as well replace the entire unit. Got quoted $460 to source and R&R the unit. I reckon I can do better... In all that, though, I probably need some guidance, preferably through a comprehensive service manual. Is there a service manual (PDF) for the Oz-delivered AE112r Corolla running the 7A-FE? Figure I'll source a new alternator, and R&R the thing myself, but don;t want to screw around with it is there's something difficult about it that isn't immediately obvious (and which a service manual would highlight). Anyone?
  3. I have a very basic AE101r Seca which has the manual windows and mirrors. I bought the car as it has ~96000kms on the clock from new (and looks like it), so it "might" be worth doing a few basic bits and pieces to it, if I can DIY most of it. What I'd like to do is swap in electric mirrors and - possibly - power windows also (including switchgear, door cards etc. Question is, has anyone bothered to do this in one of these? How much of the necessary wiring for electric mirrors/windows is in place in the stock loom? Or, as the wrecker has told me, is it a case of completely rewiring those parts as the factory loom doesn't include the vestigial wiring/plugs etc. to "plug and play" the parts? Also, if I procured the parts out of a sedan, would they all be interchangeable? (I'm speaking aout rear door cards specifically, but are all the parts interchangeable? Or only some? (or maybe none?) Hope someone can help.
