  1. Hi Guys, New member here and owner of old mate 1996 hiace commuter van (work van). Recently the original alternator seized and I decided to replace the unit. After reconnecting everything it seems the glow plug system isn't working - no dash light, and no clicking noises. Using a test light it seems no power is coming from the harness into the relay. Battery is good, fuses are good, glow plug bulb OK and was very careful pulling everything off and putting back. Can't seem to find any wiring diagrams on these but the job was pretty straight forward and I am at a loss to know what could have happened. The alternator I got was an OEX brand from a local supplier apparently to suit the vehicle (oval plug), but was wondering if there are differences with the alternators for these, as that is all that has been changed really and the glow system was working fine previously. Wonder if I had to go geniune part alternator - ouch on price. Anyone have an idea of what I could try or look for a fix for this? Thanks in advance, Col.
  2. Hi Guys, New member here from central Qld. Satisfied owner of 2005 Avalon and older 1996 Commuter van (work van). This is our second Avalon and previous 2003 model was passed onto our son and still going well. This is my second hiace van, as previous one was T-boned by someone who drove full speed out of a centre park and bent the old girl like a banana. Current one has been good but has struck some glow plug problems lately and am hoping for some help to resolve this. Thanks, Col.
