hey dan can i ask ya something ? u know the bracket that holds the vsv(blue sensor one), how did u manage to push the large hose aside ? coz its sooo stubborn that i wouldnt move. sooo i just bolted the bracket up abit higher than usual and went from there. but the thing im worried about is the piping.one of the pipe(the one coming out from the side of the blue sensor) is abit (tinybit) bent coz of the braket being too high.

glad to hear you ended up giving it a go yourself ren ;)
another satisfied CAI owner now I hope!?!?!
lol yesh.
haha it wasnt even hard. i was quite suprised actually. now all i need to work on is wiring lights etc. i still dunno how to get pass the firewall or hook up a relay (with switch) properly. ahh hope ill learn them all soon.

You can get em at most motor spares shops like Auto Barn , repco etc. They're sometimes called vacuum caps. When I went into repco and asked for hose caps they said they didn't stock them. One guy over heard the conversation and knew what I was after - vacuum caps.
cheers bro.

i looked everywhere. been to x3 hardwares stores they couldnt help me and repco couldnt help me either. before i head down to my Toyota dealer, can any1 point me in the rite direction to get these rubber caps ?
thnx

lookin good bro. hehe its very similar to da oem sportivo rims. ;)

You should be able to hear a loud 'sucking' sound from the intake whilst simply just idling the car... at least thats what mine is like.
yeh if i pop the bonnet i can hear it. i think my exhaust system covers the suckin sound which sux. but no of the less i can hear it when i rev it past 2.5grand. im loving it.
yeh true northy.

hay ren
the two pictures u have provided r both incorrect.....the correct cuttin point can be seen in the pic attached....much thanxs to danthuyer...he did my install yesterday n that is where i cut mine.....i believe cutting it makes the installion easier or neater as the other bit does not need to be used at all!
cheerio n hope that helps
wei wei
kk thnx for that. hrmm for the other bracket i reckon it can be fitted on by sanding both sides down abit or i could spread out the clips more sooo the sensor will slide in nicely.
hehe, i installed mine today. looks very good, but the sucking is not loud enuff lol. hrmm mabbie its just me. but when i revv up to 5-6k, i can hear it. omg its da best. best money spend soo far.
errm btw does any1 know where i can get rubber valve caps to seal off the sprout ?(the one at the bak which is not used) coz i went to 2 hardware shops today and they said they didnt have any :S. hrmm mite try repco tomoroz.

yaay finally got my TRD CAI. :D :D but i got questions that needs answering.
where do i cut the bracket ? i've posted images of the bracket with lines indicating were to cut. please check the pics below and tell me if its correct. if not, please draw the lines for me.
cheers ppl.
ohh my kit didnt come with rubber plugs where can i buy 1 ? coz i only need one to seal off the piping on the CAI. thnx.
-
The S/C kit would probably add 20kg or less, however to my knowledge there's almost 100kg difference between a Conquest and a Sportivo.
When you have a small capacity engine, every kg counts, So yes Sport1vo I will go to the tiolet and lose 1/2kg before I get in the car
eat subway while ya at it :P jerry jerry

imagine the torque steering on that beast :o . hrmmm, i love the new astra look but toyota will always be my favourite even though they underpower their cars.(well some).
-
a 06' model corolla. :o im jealous :P 0o00o funny if has similar characteristics(comestic wise) to the new echo. but i doubt it.

depends if ya car is manual or automatic. its drops the car by 2sec in a manual.(0-100km time).
its gonna cost 6000 + fitting labour cost, soo if u have the money, go ahead. or u could always sell it, purchase a sportivo model and mod it slightly.
insurance will go up dramatically.
-
have u tried ultra tune ? i usually go to my toyota Dealer coz i get 5yrs warrenty if i continue.
hrmm why would it be a major service at 40k ? surely it doesnt cost 340bux just to get a few things changed. i would only imagine the shock absorbers and brake pads coming close. other than that, dunno.
-
just checked it out, it looks like the same package. yaay, now i dont need to worry haha. :P :D hrmm but i dun remember the actual price. but i know its in da $300's.
Hey Ren,
How did you go with fitting the driving lights? Did the switch fit ok?
Also, did you need to remove the bumper to fit the lights? I guess the set has instructions, but until I get my hands on one, I need to ask some questions! :)
Cheers.
havent fitted them on yet. im gettin the autoelectrian to do it for me on tuesday. from the instructions u need to remove the bumper. but the autoelectrian may just be lazy and bypass it from the side. lol.
umm as for the switch its the size of the coin slot. sooo i'll just get him to remove the coin slot thingy.
-
yeh thnx for that. hrmm i might aswell take it to the autoelectrian on tuesday and get them to do the job. ill just watch them do it, soo ill have a better idea in the future.

i dont know the kit you refer to I bought mine genuine. Is your toy facelift or pre facelift. the brown connectors plug directly into the globe HB3 or HB4. if your kit has different globes you might have an adapter in your kit. post a pic of the connectors in your kit and the instructions and I might be able to help you out.
mines the pre-facelift. soo its the long ones. heres some pics.
weird instructions
foglight bak
the switch and converter for switch
the wires (referred to as the "harness" in instructions). thats all the plug it came with.
-
yo dale, was ya foggies the one that came in a package with the long wires etc ? if so when it talks about the green plug, what are they on about ? i havent opened the package yet but i cant see any green connectors.
when i took off the front bumper yesterday, i noticed 2 brown plugs. hrmm those are the ones the instructions are quoting etc.
the brown connectors are the fog wiring, the relay holder is behind the coin box and fuse i cant remember but might be in engine bay. if you want to diy i will look later and and post some pics
it would be good if u can do that. since i know the layout of front.
the instructions is abit weird. its telling me to connect the 1pin to da green plug and doesnt even come with one. the colours are x1greyn x2blue and a black -tive hook.

Kcorro-Yeah, One day I'll get to taking it out , and putting on the vvt-i badges and painting the calipers and changing the aerial and ....
Just can't be bothered yet. :P
I took the wite bottle out a few months ago on my conquest, I think you will find the bottle is to create resonance and reduce the inlet noise. this will in no way affect the engine if removed, just rip it out... if you are going to the auto elec to fit the fogs you might be wasting your money. All the wiring might be there like it was on my conquest, all i had to do is fit a switch, fuse and relay.

take off the masking tape there is no need for it just let it dump out whatever flows through it.
i have been talking with izzfe for a long time about taking out the bottle from his car now i am sure when he reads this he will want to do it soon. it sure does make the car go harder.
hrmm wouldnt it be better to seal it off ? since more air will pass up ? nah i'll just leave it for now coz its gonna take ages to take off again since the front bar is bak on.
-
w00t, i just removed it. the bolting was a bitch though, but i managed. i sealed off the exiting hole with masking tape and inserted 2 holes on the bottom.
for some reason the car is faster now lol. hrmm damn :P
btw will the masking tape over the hole cause any engine damage ? this is only temp though. coz CAI arrives next week.
-
it must be removed.
k thnx. if i remove it prior to installing it(CAI) will it damage my engine ? coz i dont get the CAI till next week and my autoelectrician is installing my foggies on monday. at the same time ill tell him to remove it for me.
-
i was wondering if any accent, conquest or even levin owners(excluding sportivo) have installed the TRD CAI without removing that white water bottle thingy ? will the K&N pod fit if i dont remove the white bottle ? ahh, please help me out soon coz if it needs to be removed i'll get the autoelectrian to remove it while he is wiring up my fog light.
thnx.
w00t CAI arrive next week(according to dealer). is happy. :D
northy may be able to assist.
-
so how can you tell if the engine has sucked in water? and if so, what do you do about it?
the car seems to run normal at the moment, but i must take the pod out and dry it.
cheers
hrmm probably need to get the engine flushed and inspected at the very least.
CAI and water question
in Corolla / Corolla Sportivo Club

I know the CAI is prone to water, under heavy rain etc. but when i washed the car yesterday, i noticed the CAI was wet(from water) around the mesh. i was wondering if this would cause engine damage ? since its very little water, i reckon the oil will repell the water from entering the pod. but please tell me what u think.
thnx.
