Just stating the obvious...but as with all hydraulic lifters, the 1VD-FTV valve lash adjusters can get blockages and operate as 'solid' lifters...making a rarther terrible din. Test your injectors by all means...given the potential for a melted piston...but id first consider a couple of rapid (100-200 kms) oil changes and even the use of some oil flushing goop before spending upwards of $3500 on a set of injectors.
