^^ Perish the thought of Potenza Sports for your car, not available in your size. Get the RE003, good compromise of performance & grip, currently on special !

Bob jane and tyre power both said these are not recommended and they wear very quickly? They suggested the Michelin xm2+ or the toyo proxes c100? but have read bad reviews on those

  2. They look like low profile tyres? Im not a huge fan of low profiles and the pothole city i live in wont bode well. Any other recommendations?

  3. I need new tyres and the array of selections are doing my head in. ATM i have https://www.bobjane.com.au/a/215-60r16-tyres/bob-jane-all-rounder-1/bob-jane-all-rounder-plus-with-silica-215-60r16-95v/18694?variant_id=18694

However they have worn very quickly (30,000km) and they spin like **** on take off in the wet. I am after something better but not breaking the budget.  Im prepared to spend a tiny bit more for a better product. Any recommendations? I have constantly seen the Michelin  primacy and pilot sports recommended, are they really that good? and which one is better?

Quite a few years ago, I got a spare ignition key cut then the locksmith came out to my Aurion and did the process to program the key.

I was totally confused with all of the steps that he did and no way that I can recall what he did. I am sure that he even opened and closed the boot a few times as well as the ignition.

Definitely a "chicken dance". Worthwhile to have a spare key otherwise you are in a world of financial pain.

The spare key wasn't working either he tested both keys they were emitting signal, so i dont know what exactly caused them to stop sending signal to the car?

  5. I had an experience today out of nowhere my key buttons stopped working. i got a new battery, nothing, took it back to mr minit, he comes out to the car, starts going through this process opening closing the door key in and out of the ignition i thought he was drunk, he got the thing working again and im like WTF, i asked him what he did, and he replied "i did the chicken dance" i laughed my ***** off so hard couldnt believe it

  6. i rang toyota and they said it had been done on my car. I had a look for myself and can see the metal upgrade. Load off my mind. I am pretty sure the vvt oil line has been done as well. it looks metal however there is a bend hidden behind a panel you cant see

  7. Well my Aurion was squealing like a pig so i take it down and of course idler, tensioner, water pump gone. So have them replaced and since the new water pump has gone in  both mornings ive checked the coolant level and the reseviour is bone dry. I take it back and the guy says its normal. They pressure tested the system added more coolant but im still losing coolant overnight. He said not to be concerned but i should not be losing coolant like that

  8. I bought my 2009 aurion 2nd hand at 140k from toyota. Had a full log book history. Ive had it for 2 years and so far this is what has been done....

Replaced spark plugs + oil change $700

    New battery

    Leaking cv boot $150

Alternator stopped dead was charged $900 for the alternator new belt and labor

    Window washer pump went $140

The door open sensor is playing up getting that fixed tomorrow

    The transmission is slipping now

There is a misfire throwing no codes so im guessing either coils or injectors

There is also a squeel noise coming from the engine bay no doubt a pulley ot water pump on the way out

    New struts

And not to mention its an absolute gas guzzler

    The list goes on

  9. I noticed today when turning the car on then turning it off i could hear a glugging sound coming from under the hood. The kind of sound water makes as uts going down the sink. It doesnt happen on long distance just very short trips. Coolant level is normal, no leaks, no overheating. Anyone know what it could be?

  10. So i have noticed when i put my aurion in reverse i back out put the brakes on the car "bounces" slightly. I have googled this and most responses come up "jerking" its not jerking its literally a bounce. I have recently replaced the struts the mechanic said my brakes were down to 3% at the front. Would it be a brake thing? or possible trans mount? or a crapped out tranny? I have noticed the tranny is a bit jerky when changing gears sometimes

  11. Well my Aurion needs 4 new struts, back ones leaking front ones on the way out according to my mechanic. I was quoted $600 for the front and $630 for the rear which seems reasonable. my question is do they replace the whole assembly or just the shocks? if its just the shocks should i ask them to replace the whole assembly instead?

  12. As the title says i got my car washed and straight after my VSC and traction control light came on. i pulled over turned the car off, started it it came back after a minute. i drove straight to the mechanic he scanned it and it came up SAS steering angle sensor code in the memory but nothing specific. he cleared the code and it hasnt come back on. Would it just be a coincidence or is something on the way out?

  13. Ok so i bought my toyota aurion after listening to a lot of mechanics go on about toyota reliability. So far in the words of scotty kilmer mine has been an endless money pit. not only do things break often, when they do brake they are damn expensive to fix

My window wiper fluid stopped working, So here i was thinking it was just low on fluid. Fill it still nothing. Take it to toyota and they hit me with the motor not working that will be $600 for the motor and $150 an hour for labor and it takes 2 hours to fix.

i almost dropped to the floor. i declined the repair and swiftly walked out because in my mind i cant justify spending almost $1000 just for a gadget to spray water. How absolutely absurd!

Anyways toyota reliability? yeah not really.

    /end rant

  14. I watched the car nuts video on this very thing about a week ago. Its not going to damage the engine. If you are happy to live with the leak i wouldnt even worry about it. Especially at 150k. the more i learn about the 2grfe the more i regret buying mine. really calls into question this whole toyota reliability thing. Are they really that reliable? the engine bay is really bad as well because to get to things like the water pump, alternator, even the back 3 spark plugs its not the average job. you will always pay more for it to be done.

  15. Every so often, Well not very often I get a weird Beep warning sound coming from the dash. it only happens when I have heavy passengers in the car. One of them said they saw the transmission "D" light on the dash go from green to orange for a split second. I have also noticed my "R" light is orange as well. Is my transmission stuffed?
