  1. I have a 2007 corolla ascent also, It is a hatchback model, and i have only recently noticed a gentle rattle coming from the dash as well. Nothing is rattling in the glovebox or any compartment. It is worse when i have a passenger and when traveling at around 80kms/hr. It is not a mechanical rattle, just a interior rattle, as when the expansive dash is pushed down, it stops rattling.

Is yours a sedan and a 152? I find I can push on top of the dash or on the silver trim around the stereo and voila.....squeeks!

  2. i know my rola is idling a bit high but i dont know how high due to the bloomin fact that i dont have a revmeter but ive got one now just got to install it then i can figure out if the rolla is reving to high... but im pretty sure there is a nob somewhere near the rev cable and you adjust it accordingly.

those rev knobs are pretty useful, although ive only ever noticed them in my old landcruiser bundera (1985)... i never noticed it in any newer cars (ie- not in my parents 100 series landcruiser, or my 1zz). am i wrong on that? does the 1zz/2zz have these knobs?

I don't believe the idle speed can be controlled at all - set in the EMU. High idel could be as a result of another fault such as vacuum loss somewhere. Best to take the car back to the dealer!

  3. my 03 sportivo seems to be idling quite high at 1800rpm

just wondering if anyone else has experienced that and if so how they fixed the problem

    :D

High idle is normal when the car is cold. There are 2 components. One for engine and one for aircon. If you start up the car with aircon engaged, yes it will seem that the idle is high. As soon as you drive this should correct itself.

  4. I have a 07 ZZe122 which is also making a weird noise from the dash.

On its 20k service i asked them to have a look at this and they think its the clutch pressure plate

Might be worth having Toyota having a look at it.

Nope....mine is an auto....the car does only makes the noise when it is warm or sun has been on the dash.....and I don't have an e-tag.....certain older e-tags send an annoying noise down the windscreen that seems to come from debing the dash.....it is definitely the silver trim

  5. u sure its not somethign u put inside those drawers and compartments?

I used to have it on my hatch, But its probably from the things i put in my dash compartment. I hvnt heard it since i took those out. Mines a hatch btw.

No it is definitely the silver trim. If I push against the trim with a finger it makes the same noise. As I drive and go over bumps in the road a get that squeaking or perhaps better described as a sort of clicking noise. ZDrives me nuts. :(
