Unable to have a towbar on my Corolla hybrid

We find ourselves in the same position as Philip, having bought a Toyota Corolla sedan hybrid and wishing to put a bike rack on it. We have also been told by a tow bar fitting company that no tow bar is made for the hybrid, and they had no suggestions. Does anyone have suggestions about getting a tow bar fitted? Are there any options?
