Hi,
This is my first post.
I have a Landcruiser 200 series (2012). It had an ARB lift kit fitted when new. It has recently developed a disconcerting swaying in the suspension. Hard to say when it started - we had noticed earlier this year that the steering felt very loose. The workshop we took it to replaced the front shocks (OME - same as originals). The KDSS was reset after the change. We also switched our tyres back onto the original allow wheels as I had been running steel wheels for outback exploration work. They did a wheel alignment as well.
After this we did a trip to SA. During this trip the vehicle began exhibiting a noticeable swaying - it felt a bit like when towing a caravan and the caravan starting to sway a little. It would last a few seconds then ease off. My wife and her sister (chatting in the back seats) constantly complained about being thrown about - reckoned it was my driving!
On returning to Qld I took the vehicle back to the workshop and they thought it was the rear shocks, so they replaced them with a new set of OME shocks. Also both rear tyres were severely worn on the inside and were replaced.
This didn’t fix the issue. So I booked it into a suspension specialist in Rockhampton. They replaced the rear coils with a heavier duty set and reset the KDSS again. That was today and driving it home the swaying was still there.
The only thing that I can think of now is that there is a problem with the KDSS. I have looked and there doesn’t seem to be many cases of KDSS failure in Landcruisers. Any ideas out there of what the problem may be.
