so i bought an obx lsd the other week but then i bought a whole gearbox two days later with a quaife in it instead for an awesome price, if anyone is keen on the obx unit gimme a msg!0403730371
Hey Daniboy
did you manage to find out if it works with our speedo gears with out any modification? or do our spedos run off the abs ? slightly confused lol..
Regards
dave
Edit: Has any one tried one of these guys yet , im very tempted but every single forum site is saying the build quality is poor and they need to be rebuilt, i wonder if the lsd would be strong enough with our engines in n/a condition.
Has any one done a obx lsd rebuild by any chance ?
Regards
My one looked good quality lots of Honda people run them no need to rebuild after 40,000 km!
Still working good

PM Me if you need help fitting the OBX I have one installed
Curiosity Matt, does the JDM Runx have a speed signal running from the gearbox? Was diagnosing a problem on a zze122 the other day and was looking at the speed sensors between the Celica, zze122 and zze123; and my zze123 didn't have the speedo sensor in the same place. So just curious if yours is the same or not? Just wondering if the vehicle speed comes from the ABS ECU on the Sportivo. The problem on the zze122 ended up being a broken cluster BTW.
Yea I was not sure my guy who fitted the LSD said we needed it, it was not hard to gest lsd spark eroded and fit the speedo wheel which was on the factory lsd. I think you may not even need it

Uprated Tein springs to 300lb at the front

is that one of the obx lsd's your using?
Yup it is, been working great too.

140kw is possible
I got 130kw with ..
Injen intake, 2.5 inch exhaust from headers, Ported headers, Camcon to adjust fuel and vvti, Hondata manifold gasket, coolant bypass, lightweight flywheel, lightweight wheels. (Last two mods may not make kw)
So trow in some cams with the power fc and you would be close

Hi All,
It is illegal but I know speedo cable could be unplugged from older car preventing odomoter from clocking up mileage while driving.
Do Sportivo uses speedo cable, or computer reading for the Speedometer.
I saw a low mileage Sportivo, but Im not certain whether the speedo cable had been unplugged before?
Again, no previous service history :(
cheers,
Bernie
I tried all the plugs on my gearbox and none stopped speedo if anyone know how to stop mileage I would be interested!

I love my fizanza it the lightest around and only $290 usd from ebay :)
After fitting car was quicker and loves to rev faster, did not even seem any harder to drive like people say.
One of the best mods (With LSD)

One could have had a dirty filter my CAI gets dirty quicker due to placement
Also oil type and plugs do make a difference

wtf is that impeller wheel plastic?!
Yep did not last long with doing 9'000 rpm!
fuck that is dodgy as hell...
Dont know where the other two fins went either! Must be in the engine somewhere :P
The whole thing is ready so snap in half!

Hi to all. Today i've changed my exhaust system.CES racing system made for 2ZZ-GE motor:2.5 304 stainless steel pipework, custom resonator, muffler.stainless headers(ceramic coated).it seems to me that i've lost some power at low revs and gain on hi.can anyone clear my mind?is it possible.
Yep possible if you port header you should gain a little back all over rev range
I put in a high flow cat and seemed to notice low down power came back a little.
-
Head has had a mild port job cleaned up factory casting and machining around the valve seat.
Valve spring compressor has arrived read to assemble head
-
I got a good gain with a camcon on 2zzge. This was mainly with changing vvti. Not sure if unichip can change vvti?
Mods cat back, injen, decat, ported headers, fidanza.

Rocker cover black to match injen intake
Plenum coated
Plenum restriction removed
Cleaned up factory casting marks and port matched
-
I have finally found a spare engine to rebuild got so many goodies to bolt in will take pictures of my progress if anyone's interested. So far the engine has been stripped down.
Plans are.....
Heat coat ported headers.
Powder coat rocker cover gloss black to match injen intake - Done
Modify runners to remove factory cast marks - Done
Modify plenum to remove factory machining marks around the throttle body and remove internal restrictions. - Done
Powder coat intake manifold silver - Done
Port and polish head
Fit supertech valves, springs, ti retainers.
De bur the engine
New factory pistons
Lightweight crower rods
New bearings
ARP bolts
Circuitworx oil pump
With the rest of my current bolt ons

Rear disks have been upgraded and some TRD pads added too.

The issue with the stage 3 cams is valve lift. Stock valve train maxes out at about 12mm of lift (give or take slightly due to my measurement errors). If you try and force the valve to keep opening you will damage the cam lobe. The upgraded valve springs are thinner in wire diameter, thus allowing slightly more lift. But as mentioned earlier the heavier spring rate can cause valve damage and then leads to needing stronger valves
I tested this, too :)
-
I would replace the valves and springs first before cams.
The factory springs are only 40lb and are the cause of many a broken engine.
Supertech 70lb (MWR 9500+) are good but will require machining the head to use with stage 3 cams
Eibach 60lb (MRW race) are also good and will work perfect with stage 3
MWR 3 Stage are very aggressive and are the best choice for low cam and big cam
-
Why not ARP flywheel bolts they are cheaper and stronger and re-useable
-
I think the poms got 269 mm rear rotors, so removing 4-5 mm would be within the realm of possibility to get them to fit. Much benefit to sourcing the rotors from Europe over the local (across the ditch anyway) suppliers?
They were nice slotted/drilled and cheap
-
I got some rears from the UK they were slightingly too big and had to be machined down in diameter by 4-5mm otherwise they would hit the calipers.

Best to get the factory one out theres a guide on newcelica for doing the lsd somewhere
Then check if it needs the speedo ring if your mechanic says yes it does
Then take obx and factory one to an engineer with a spark eroder cost me $100 bucks to get done
Then the factory ring fits on with a a thin slice of metal to keep it in place
