  1. I removed the air conditioning compressor from my 89’ LN106 2.8 3L. The compressor mounting bracket also doubles as the alternator adjustment bracket. At this point I want to swap out this massive piece of metal for a simpler alternator adjustment bracket. I’ve seen a few 2.8 3L owners that have swapped out to this simpler bracket, but for the life of me I cannot find out where the these brackets can be found used or new. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance! Looking to get rid of this: And swap out to this:
  2. Hey all, new here. I have a 1989 Hilux LN106 2.8 3L that has excessive crankcase pressure & bad blow-by and just completed a complete tear down of the engine. Now time to rebuild. My cylinders currently have sleeves/liners in them, does anyone know if this is stock for the 1989 LN106 2.8 3L? If not, then I’m assuming one of the previous owners overhauled the engine as well. My Max Ellery manual doesn't mention anything about sleeved cylinders. My machinist says it’s cheaper to bore out the sleeves than to pull them (he would have to make a tool to pull out that specific sleeve). I see many overhaul kits online, but are there recommendations out there for where to pick up a quality complete overhaul rebuild kit w/oversized pistons? Thanks in advance!
  3. Hey all, new here so please be gentle. In a nutshell, I have a 1989 2.8 3l LN106 Diesel. Vehicle ran perfect but has slowly been becoming increasingly difficult to start, and when it does run, it runs fine until I stop giving it fuel (at a stop sign) at which point it starts to shudder and ultimately die. I live in Hawaii, so no cold issues here. All new glow plugs, new battery, new fuel filter, new timing belt. Injection pump and starter was rebuilt within the year. Connection to battery is good. Fuel is good. It's a simple engine, but what am I not thinking of? Thanks in advance for any advice!!
