Hi there we have a 1990 model import townace with the 2C-T moter. We have had the same problem with the gearbox. We took it to a transmission place. They test drove it and said it was the cable that goes from the gearbox to the top of the motor. All it neede was an adjustment and now it runs beautifully. It took the mechanic less than a minute. I couldn't believe it. We also had it serviced. Only cost $113.50 all up. Apperently when a mechanic works on the engine they don't always know the right setting for this cable and normally just leave it which can sometimes put the gear changing out.
