  1. Wow... that's a crazy amount of fuel for a 3L engine...

I must say, mine's not too great either, but not THAT bad. I have the 3VZ engine anyway.

It could possibly be the 02 sensor... pretty sure that's the thing that determines the amount of fuel that is used by the incoming air flow.

    Good luck either way.

  2. You wanna pay for the fuel and running costs of a 3SGTE? Just ask Dan and Greg... will only take Premium and chew through it. There's waayyy too much work to just "swap" the engine around so to speak.

200k is fine for any Camry engine man. Mine's just hit 198k and I'm not even the slightest bit worried. I'll be getting the usual 200k service and possibly replace some engine mounts too (wow, move around much?) so yeah.

Camry engines are able to last well over 400k if you look after them right. I know someone with a Gen 5 ex Taxi and it's done over 500k... mind you, oil woulda been replaced every couple of weeks (around 3-5k)

  3. I'd definitely prefer to be doing heads on a 5SFE over a 3VZFE!

I believe it'd be around 5-7 hour's labour plus parts. It really comes down to the experience of the mechanic at the end of the day.

  4. HAHAHA!

Sorry I dunno how to sort the Bluetooth thing out... I'm guessing you have to put the mobile or head unit into pairing mode I spose?

I would go and buy a Hybrid Camry TODAY if I had someone in lycra (preferably female) doin backflips down the road after me :P

  5. 1ONLI... from Brisbane.

I believe the car's painted white (last time I heard) and gets around Northside Brissy. We tried to get him on here and Auscam, but seems to be just fine doin what he does.

Great work done to the car though!

  6. I'd be threatening them saying you'll call consumer affairs.

Mind you, you got no way to prove that they damaged the car. It really sucks when they won't even OWN UP to the damage. Makes you want to go on a rampage!

Companies like that WILL go out of business once they've screwed everyone over. You should also post this in Auscam too mate

I was going to buy some rims through them and ship them up here... but after seeing this kind of stuff, they won't get any business from me.

  7. To add to Sean's post, I would be looking at least 17s... if not 18s.

Stud pattern is 5 x 114.3 and stock offset is +45. If you go lower than +40, expect the outside of the tyre to wear on the guard. This of course may change if the tyre's size is possibly thinner or is more rounded so to speak. It also depends on if your car's lowered as well.

If you're going 17s with a +30 offset, I'd be running a 45 profile tyre with possibly a 215 - 220 width tyre. I'm not sure if you're gonna scrape on the wheel guard, but you'd most certainly notice it when going over speed bumps and stuff like that.

  8. cool, I'll give that place a try and see what they can do :)

@trentmeyer, wow $110 does sound good, which place did you those from?

I live in Sydney (near Olympic Park) anybody recommend good places I could buy KYB shocks from or a good suspension installer?

Pedders and Monroe... well, as most suspension shops say - "they're ****". Simple as that, lol. Monroes are more stiff than KYB... can't say about Pedders - never been in a car with em.

The argument I got between Monroe and KYB is that KYB were built better. KYB aren't as harsh to drive with and are still nice and stiff. Much better than stock anyway.

Tein are a great brand, never had anyone say anything bad about them (yet). Tein coilovers would be hugely expensive though... looking around 2800 before even installing (from last quote anyway).

  9. Hey mate.

I'd imagine the previous owner would have just used it for something like box trailers or something like that... it's just a general purpose towbar. Is it the 4 or 6 cylinder engine? From memory, the 4 cylinder was able to pull around 1 tonne... The V6 had an extra 200kg or so extra it was able to do (someone advise if that's incorrect).

The cooler next to the radiator is stock. I'm guessing Auto?

The 2002 Advantage was the last of the Gen 4 series Camrys. I remember reading that the Advantage Series had a couple of extra features that weren't normally included in most other Camrys (except for higher trim models of course). I also read that these Advantage series were made to sell off the last of the Gen 4s to make way for the Gen 5s.

How many were made? Not sure on the number, but there's not many of them around. You won't have a problem with parts or anything if that's what you're wanting to know about though :)

  10. As Trent said earlier, the 3MZ 3.3L head mated with a 3L 1MZ block is probably the way to go. I THINK Tony in Toronto's doing this project now... but not exactly a easy conversion. I haven't heard much since, but Adam (ASG14) would have the most info on it.

  11. If the cat's gone, either replace it with the same thing, or go a high-flow cat. Up to you at the end of the day.

SupaTouring's right as well - the Y pipe is the most restrictive piece of the exhaust on the 1MZs. Heaps of people in the States and a few here in Australia have changed theirs around with great results.

  12. If it's the plastic deteriorating, then it's from the sun as Trent suggests...

Mine's got it too, but I've done exactly how Trent has said and placed some padded tape over the covering of where the sun seeps through and yeah... at least kept it at bay.
