  1. OK...I think there is still a problem with surging or hesitation. I have reset the ECU per Danthuyer's advice. I don;t know what's wrong with it.

did u guys get unichip or Emanage to tune the air:fuel ratios? I got a feeling it's to do with the sensor not reading the correct air flow. I did install it correctly with only the air flow sensor attatched to the pipe. Did u also have to attatch the connector that opens up the flap from the air box as well?

I don;t know what to do now and I need help please!!! :o :o

  2. i just done a few mods on my car eg: Lowerred, wheels and CAI. i was wondering do u guys advise ur insurance company about the mods especially the CAI. Do u think I should tell them? I know lowerring and wheels shouldn;t be a problem but I'm just worried about the CAI. They may not insure me.

Also doesn;t anyone know which company will insure if u have CAI?

    Thanks

  3. UR A CHAMP blakrolla !

Toyota rang me today and told me to bring my car in for investigation next thursday!  thanx alot !

finally get to smile wen im on high revs instead of the worried face !

No probs mate. I know how frustrating it can be. I was in the same shoes where my service center wouldn;t even look at the problem coz they think I was thrashing the car. I rang Jenny and spoke to her one time and then followed it by an email. She got it all sorted out with an email sent to me to tell me what to do. She's not too bad. Really helpful with my issues. Come to think of it I was meant to write a formal complaint to her about my old service center. They were hopeless.

Anyway hope it gets fixed once and for all. :D

  4. BlackRolla... Did u get the CAI from Lansvale????

Yeah that's right. Shift Performance Shop 4/175 Hume Highway Lansvale. ph: (02)97289654. Talk to either Anthony or Sam. They treat u well.

Thanks for the advice guys. I will try that and see how it goes. We did disconnect the battery when installing the CAI and it took about 30 mins. But when we connected it back up again I did not let it idle for 15 - 30 mins. Just took off and drove it hard. I will try that when I get time. disconnect battery for 30 mins and reconnect. Then Let it idle for 15 - 30 mins. All up it would take 1 hour. I don't think I have the patience.:lol:

Thanks again for the feedback. Appreciate it!

  5. I just got my CAI installed and I just can't get this grin off my face. :D . It is just awesome! It feels like the car is much lighter and it pulls effortlessly. Once it hits lift it just screams. Loving it!

The only slight problem is that when it's not warmed up properly it hesitates under acceleration, like it doesn't wanna go. I know it happens even when it is stock but the hesitation is much more noticable. Is this because of the airflow sensor not reading properly? Any one who has a CAI installed experience this?

  6. OK...Maybe the guys in ur state can tell u which dealer to go to get it done. I have got mine adjusted and as I said it is perfect now. The email that I got from Jenny Stewart after numerous complaints from most of us did specify that it does need to be adjusted. If they do not think it is the clutch pedal then I suggest u write an email to Jenny and state which dealer is not willing to do this for u. Hope she'll get things sorted for u.

For others who want to see the email that I got from her, here it is again:

Thank you for your recent email outlining the ongoing issues with your Corolla Sportivo.

Toyota Australia has investigated reports of gear shift feel/baulking during high rpm gear change on Corolla Sportivo. Our investigations have not identified any design or assembly faults with the clutch or related components.

However, the clutch pedal adjustment was found to be outside specification in some cases and has contributed to the reported gear shift condition. Please arrange inspection of the clutch pedal adjustment by your Warren Toyota as soon as convenient.

We thank you for bringing your personal concerns to our attention and giving us the opportunity to respond.

    Yours sincerely,

    TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION AUSTRALIA LIMITED

  7. Thanks guys. I know it does look pretty much the same as the stock rims but I liked the style of the stockies. I upgraded to these coz its bigger and gives lower profile tyres.

Wheels are Lenso Scorse 17 x 7. Tyres are Toyo 205/40.

Lowerred with Pedders springs. I was wanting King Springs but his supplier didn't have any in stock. Had to wait a week. The ride is not too bad. I wouldn't know if it is good or not without sitting in someone else's lowerred Corolla and compare. Overall I'm pretty happy. Got a really good deal too. :D

  8. Just went to Shift performance today. The Simota CAI kit was $200 including install. They quoted me the wrong price before ($150 was for the earlier Corollas). Comes with its own pod filter. It is different from the TRD one. The end of the pipe goes down to the front somewhere underneath and behind the headlight where the POD filter sits. The filter is a smaller one as well so it can fit underneath. At this position it will suck in colder air. I put an order on it and will be getting it on Friday. :D

    We'll see how it goes.

  9. I've always found you get what you pay for.  For mine, I think the $450 for the TRD CAI is well worth it, performance is DEFINITELY improved and the sound?  Well, it's awesome
After being next to oz_viking when he hit lift - the sound is AWESOME! I will be adding TRD CAI at some time in the near future!

Wouldn't you get the same sort of effect if u install any CAI kit. Don't they all do the same job? You'll still get the performance and the sucking noise. This CAI is $300 cheaper and it's from Simota. Not sure if they're any good but I'm thinking it would do the same job. It just doesn;t look as good as the TRD one. Correct me if I'm wrong. :)

  10. i had a look on the drivers side door near the hinge and there was no sticker:

Same with mine. I had the recall done but there is no sticker. I think only some here have had the sticker stuck on the inside of the door. Not all service centers know that they needed to do that or if it was compulsory.

  11. I found a place in Sydney who sells CAI kit for $150. I was wondering if they are any good as they are exactly the same pipe and shape as the TRD one. Would there be any difference in the two with performance? I'm thinking it shouldn't make a difference as they both should do the same job. Please correct me if I'm wrong. is there anything that I should look out for?

Also with the air filter I'm looking to go Apexi Pod filter. Is that a good choice? It's $160. Does that sound right or can I get it elsewhere for cheaper?

Another thing I wanna ask is can we just attatch the Apexi pod filter to the current air box without the CAI kit or do we need get the CAI kit.

    Thanks for the advice. :)

  12. hey guys... i went to melbourne city toyota and lemans toyota toay... with the email from jenny stewart and the guyat melbourne toyota said its not the clutch adjustment.. he believes it the modified cable for it... is this correct? coz i booked it in to get change since its under warrantee...

both places said its not the clutch adjustment and they wont adjust it for me!

I got my clutch pedal adjusted and it shifts perfectly everytime. If u take a look at the letter from Jenny it does state that it needs to be adjusted. Print that letter out and take it to them. It deffinitely did fix the issue.

  13. Ok so i took it in for service at Western Toyota at Guildford (highly recommend)

I do agree. I am now taking my car to them too and it is slowly getting all issues fixed. They also replaced my LCD screen without me mentioning any issues with it. How cool is that. I Highly recommend Western Toyota in Guildford too.

  14. hmm, Blackrolla, have you reconsidered keeping the stivo??

    LOL

Yep. I have already pulled out on the Accord Euro. Financial problems. Let's just say someone didn't pay a Vodafone bill.

Things are also looking good with the Stivo. Hope everything gets fixed at this other Toyota service centre. I was soooo close to trading it in. Now that the clutch issue has been fixed I'm beginning to have a bit of fun with her again. :D

  15. Hey guys

I got my car back with the adjusted clutch pedal and it seems like it has improved heaps. It slides in very easy now however the clutch feels a lot different. Prob will take me a few weeks to get use to. The friction point is now almost all the way up. I just need to push the clutch pedal 1/4 down and I can change gears. I'm not sure if I like it this way. It makes going from a stand still on a hill harder as u roll back more because of the time to release the clutch up to the friction point.

I also tried landing in lift once but it landed at 5800RPM. Much better improvement from before at 54000RPM. No more getting stuck on the gear change. Also for any guys who have the scraping noise (Xoom). They are ordering some sort of cable to fix this problem. They said that the other Toyota service should have picked this up as several Stivo's has this problem. This is coming from Western Toyota in Guildford. No more Warren Toyota!!! I am now waiting for this cable to arrive so that they can replace it. We'll see how it goes. If this prob is fixed then I will have my Stivo all sorted out with no more issues. It's slowly getting there. :)

  16. OK. got my car back yesterday afternoon and they said it is fixed. It was a broken or loose connection to the starter motor. It took them this long to figure that out. They could have checked that the first thing. I hope it was that and nothing else. So now it's been working OK but hope it lasts until my Honda arrives. I've had enough with Toyota. Never will I buy a Toyota again.
