  1. Hey guys,

    Sorry for my lengthy absence.

Was going to sell my sx6, but couldn't do it in the end. Have decided to see what we can make of it given that after so many years there are still so little aftermarket upgrades available, I'm willing to start exploring the custom route (or paying a garage to do that for me) =p. Good timing on this post I guess.

I haven't kept up to date over the years, I pretty much stopped at the Dual Varex Cannon's you may have seen on youtube.

So I'm interested in this as well. Keep posting fella's.

  2. Hey guys, sorry I couldn’t make my first meet back in about 2 years. But I was way too hung over and in no condition to drive! I know I didn’t say I was going to in the first place, mainly because I suspected with an amount of certainty that I would have been in that condition. Hanging for the next one though now that summer is here and the mods are happening.

  3. I’m actually extremely happy with it in person! There are a couple of spots that look like pin pricks here and there, due to existing chips in the paint, but they don’t stand out nearly as much in the vinyl than they did in the paint!

Wheels are on their way (Black though, sorry Seca) Should be here before Christmas.

I’m still considering coil overs, but a little worried as the mufflers to already hang quite low as it is.

But, might just have to suck it up and get used to parking a couple more inches away from the curb when backing in.

  4. i am a spray painter by trade and i get people asking me to paint their car matte black, please tell me is it hard to clean and does bird crap tree sap stain it? cheers also was it C.O.B or 2k matte black cheers?!?!?!

Yeah, it's Vinyl... a cheaper and non-permanent solution to re-spray.

Last's about 3-4 years under the harsh Australian Sun. Complete protects paint, and when removed the paint is as it was when you put it on as there is no chemical adhesive or glue.

    Most are charging around $3k.

  5. Looking mint Darius. Good to see you still have the Aurion. I remember your posts and vids back when I was a noob on the forums here.

Hey man, you're still here! It's been quite a while! You still the Aurion DIY king? =p

    very nice mate!

your video was the reason why i went down the varex path on my TRD... :D

Haha, Yeah... I think I was the first to put the varex onto the aurion! Since then I've seen a few here and there!

Some didn't realise that they had to remove the cat AND res. and put a straight pipe in so didn't sound quite as good, others figured it out.

Have you heard it from the outside? Significantly louder! You don't realise while you driving

Awesome.. Tough to keep clean, but certainly a head turner..

So how u fix a scratch / dent on this thing... Re-wrap it?

To be honest, I actually haven't thought that far ahead! hehe, I guess so?

I know that I'm too scared to use a high pressure hose on it...

  6. Hey guys!

General reply to the question everyone's been asking: It usually costs about $3k for a car this size, (that was roughly the best price I found after calling around)

Really happy with it, if you guys are interesting PM me, I'm happy to pass along details.

  7. spotted jay's zre driving passed vic st in richmond whilst i was at I Love Pho 246 (god I still can't believe they changed their name to that).. well not so much as see, but hear.. that trd muffler man.. cant forget the sound of his exhaust haha.. "grraawwwrrrrrrrr!" Just saw the back of his car and wingtips

They had to change their name coz their previous partners douched them and took their name, and are opening in their old spot (2 doors down) hoping to ride the wave of their success!

  8. I'm pretty sure I spotted you near Alumbra on Friday night just gone by too? Well, I think I did; I wasn't exactly sober...

Me or my car? Coz I'm pretty sure I didn't drive that night! =p (don't drink and drive)

But if you saw a bunch of Teletubbies stumbling around... then yeah you did see me! :)

  9. Spotted DAR1US on latrobe st last night at about 8pm. Dual exhaust tips prob about 3" custom plates. Looked very sleek. Pretty sure you're on the forums. I was in black zre behind with the yellow foggies.

Hey, yeah... I'm here! Haven't logged on for a quite a while, until today! First thing I thought I would do is run a search on my plates to see if I've been spotted for a while! Definitely would have been me on my way to Alumbra.

Next time you see me, it'll be in a Matte Black Aurion! :)

  10. Hi guys, thought I ma make a thread on Aurion. So the thread is basically anything new for Aurion accessories like on Ebay, news on the paper, reminders for a thread in a section that many people don't visit such as GROUP BUY or Meet Ups, etc etc.

I'll start the thread by reminding you guys there's a GB going on the Group Buy Section GRouP Buy AuRioN...

I was actually gonna settle with the numbers I got at the beginning of the week. Surprisingly, 51DER [sorry man for pointing you out :)] has just joined in the GB after the thread not replied for almost a week. So I was wondering If people did / not actually aware of the GB that is happening in the Buy & Sell section. So this is to remind the Aurion owners. I'm finalizing the number by this weekend. I am now in the process of getting approval from one of the MOD here. Hopefully all goes Well. Remember, the items in the list can be anything that's in the web provided in the GB.

    Thanks

And also, Secaboy, I got an email from StyleRacing. Guess whose car they're using down at the thumbnails for the 'New Aurion TRD' Model BodyKits they're selling .. :P Man, they leech the pics of our members big time.

SO.... will we be making a mass order for the bodykits?? :D

I don't know if I want people thinking that I'm driving a TRD then go to drag me and think... 'wtf... thought it was meant to be faster'

  11. yeah, the more I look at it the more I dislike it... When you say open do you mean something like this:

    wheel

coz, I do usually like that as well, but that would cost extra $$$ coz you'd HAVE to at least paint the brake calipers... (although I've always been considering painting them blue or black)

What if I got something more like:

    octane

    or even

    thunder

Although I've never really been a fan of flat faced rims, and rather dish..

[edit] then again, dish is probably going to make an aurion too darn ricey...

  12. I reckon it looks sick... did you put it on urself? how?.. where do you get the mesh from??

Changing the mesh is easy to DIY. You can easily obtain it from most auto stores like Autobarn for under $20 for a large piece. You simply cut it to shape and attach it to the frame of the grill. It is simply held on with cable ties all around.

or you can buy special mesh glue, but it's pricey for something you'll only use once... I had a friend use it for his skyline and has never come off.

  13. Hey peps, what are your thoughts on these

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/HID-Xenon-Conversio...alenotsupported

Thinking of going for HIDS but does this just seem to cheap.

    Cheers

Oh man, I just got my HID's 6000k for low beams and and fogs tonight... man they look as sick as cream on a stick!!

Warning about installing HID's on your fogs though, they glare like a mofo!!

Also if you're going to by HID's make sure you get same color led parkers as well, coz it'll look horrible without, and might as well install them at the same time...

while your at it, buy another set of LED's for your rear plate lights, coz it looks crazy good, specially if you have personalized number plates!

    thats all...

  14. [edit] actually, before I go buy panel filter, does the K&N SRI come with a kit for our Aurion/Camery V6?? If so, is it pretty much plug and play? Ie. Will I need extra hosing or can I use existing, will the sensors have a problem etc etc...

    thanks!

The kit is completely plug and play (information page here). You will get your hands slightly dirty, but any guy should enjoy that. All bits and pieces come with it and it would have to have no issues with the sensors otherwise they wouldn't be selling it. If you want to see their installation guide for it, look here:

    http://www.knfilters.com/instructions/69-8611_inst.pdf

Also be prepared to add another AUD$360 to your credit card on top of the $3k you have charged already :P

Ps Seca. Maybe I would move up north with you guys so DJKOR can work on my car too! =p

    Your choice mate

Hey that looks pretty damn easy!! Maybe I'll try do something myself for once!! If it stuffs up I'll just fly my car up to you DJK! Or I'll fly you down! =p

  15. Are you referring to the cavity on the left hand side that is the same area (but on the opposite side) as the jack (ie. not the spare wheel well itself)? If so, one thing to look at is firstly to make sure all grommets and plugs there are in place. Otherwise, it could be your boot seal, but more than likely, you would end up with some damp carpet as a result. If you can't pin it down, the best way would be to strip the interior of the boot and look around for any water marks that can indicate where it has come from.

I love it how DJK's first advise is to always DYI strip your car down and check!! When I read his replies to peoples questions (in general, not this one specifically) I usually think to myself... "dammit, how the hell do i do that!"

  16. In my opinion, removing the resonator completely and putting a low restriction straight through muffler on the rear is going to result in a raspiness in the higher revs. Then the topic of cabin drone comes into play, so personally I would recommend to still use a resonator, but use another type other than stock if you want to get more noise out of it.

Removing your resonator and putting straight through mufflers on the rear is not going to give you such a high gain as Darius was pointing out (13-14kW). I'm not trying to put your figure down, but without a before and after comparison of the same vehicle, this is not an indicated gain. There can be minor differences in engines that come off a production line, and some can in fact put out that little bit more power than other. Not to mention the dyno that is doing the reading can also have variations. There have been many people with the V6 Camry in the States trying different combinations of exhaust setups including removing the resonator, and there has been no progress with getting more noticeable power from a simple cat-back alone. Changing the y-pipe at the front though seems to be where gains could be made though.... but no one has done a proper before and after dyno.

So far, the 1/4 mile still seems to be a good indication of power. On a side note, with just my rear mufflers replaced and Rowan having his rear mufflers changed and stock resonator removed, we still obtained similar 1/4 mile trap speeds indicating similar power-to-weight since our cars would have pretty much have been the same weight at the time.

And as you have gathered, leave the cat on since it is quite a good flowing cat in the first place, and for the amount that you can be defected for, it's not worth it.

Yeah I think you may be right! DJK! There were a few varying factors on the day, eg. I had mine dyno'd fairly early in the morning, it was much cooler than when the other Aurion got his done! I believe I was using V-max while he was using the BP high octane (optimax i think)... but you and I have around the same power (on paper) 157kw right?

His was 144, so either he dyno'd lower than he should have, or we do actually have a gain! Like you said, no one has done a before and after, if we get another stock Aurion to dyno and gets around 144, we'll know that there's a gain as everyone who has had exhaust work done seems to be getting around that!

    Your the aurion guru! =p

  17. Okay, seeings no one has really kicked anything off just yet here is some "blank space" to start planning our next meet-up! Since I couldn't make the last cruise I am keen to catch up with you all again, so has anyone got any suggestions?

Hopefully I'll be able to make it and meet all you guys!
