  1. How does the warranty get affected by changing speakers? Obviously the speakers won't be covered any more, but does anything else become void?

Also... with AAMI i discovered the price is almost $400 more for comprehensive... so forget that - i'll look elsewhere! RACV seems to be ok though... how do they deal with the claims?

I thought that AAMI was pretty reasonable, i'm 22 and got $1181 as my premiem on rating 1

  2. AT-X is selling well isn't it ? Most of the Aurions that i see on the street are AT-X.

Government departments will start snapping them up for fleet, so Either way I don't think things are slowing down for the AT-X

Apparently queensland police have a Aurion fleet.

They've also just bought one TRD up there.

rumours have it that there will be a TRD cop floating around doncaster pretty soon.

  3. I knew about the BeastClub one for a while since they canceled their previous one at Doncaster a couple of weeks ago. I agree that BeastClub can get a little out of hand with their massive turnouts; mostly dominated by Commos and Falcons.

I rocked up to one of their meets when they were a little smaller and saw a little alcohol around... that turned me off.

Don't know anything about the Auto Pilots one, may join in.

    How's your new Aurion?

    -m_luke

Will be sweet if you come for a cruise! Aurion isn't here yet =( comes today (thursday) at 2pm, 14 hours away!

counting down man, can't wait! As soon as I get it, i'm cruising down to lorne to visit a few mates doing some youth work down at schoolies.

  4. Hey guys, like I promised, here are the details of the two cruises heading out! Gonna be one massive night!

Maybe we could organise to meet at one and cruise with them.

The first is with the auto-pilots crew.

    www.auto-pilots.net

    MEET TIME: 6:00pm

    DEPART TIME: 7.00pm

MEET DATE: 1st of December, 2007

MEET LOCATION: - Centro The Glen shopping centre cnr Springvale and High Street Roads, Glen Waverley.

MELWAYS REF:- Melways Map 71 C1.

COST: A gold coin for a cruise map

    The second is with beastclub

    Date & Time: Saturday, 1st December 2007

    7.30PM Meet with a 9PM ignition!

Venue: Nexus corporate park, 37 Dunlop Road, Mulgrave. (melway) 71 B10

I'll be at the auto-pilots one, it's usually a bit more sensible,

beastclub can get a bit out of hand, way too many cars there at times.

so if you guys want, maybe we can all meet up at the glenny one with auto pilots

    maybe even a premeet

  5. Well youre not really comparing apples with apples with the Aurion and IS350 engine.

IS350 has 2GR-FSE, the main difference being direct injection fuel delivery (+ conventional port fuel injection as well strangely enough). 232kW, 377Nm... and with the direct injection the 2GR-FSE is considerably more efficient than the 2GR. 2GR-FSE has made it into the worlds top 10 best engines 2 years running now.

so could you get the 232kw out of the aurion engine by swapping the ecu with the is350 chip?

  6. just buy any brand, doesnt really matters. The headlight on aurion is designed for HID, so there isnt much(or should i say "no") glare.

    Should only pay around $150-$180

    I don't agree with that^

The HID headlight has different lens and projectors. Therefore putting a HID bulb inside a halogen projector = glare...

Just because it is projector headlights does not mean a HID should fit in there.. (but then a lot of ppl do!! annoys ppl on the road!!)

    +1

  7. Corolla parts are made in Japan so they're more expensive...

The TRD Aurion parts are made locally in Aus so they are much cheaper...

I can get the TRD wheels for around $800 or thats what my work tells me anyway...

$800??? oohh, how much would it be to send to melb?

  8. Umm I have issues with the ideas forwarded in that article... when you buy the car they put shyte quality oil in their so all engine parts bed, this is a fact. Any mechanic who has done a rebuild will tell you this, you dont thrash a new engine because of the ECU, an adaptive ECU is just that, it will adapt once you can start opening the engine up in the future (for older engine/ECU, then you manually reset)... so the disadvantages far outweight the advantages. And even if you dont believe this, why the hell would you risk it... be patient for a 1000km.... you have nothng to gain but all to lose

What you say about the ECU is true, I have friend who occasionally drives his parents lexus is350 when she's out of town, just for a change. He tells me that after a while from him driving it, the car's ECU adapts quickly to how he drives it. This doesn't take more than a couple of drives.

  9. That guys right......drive it like you stole it. cars are run in from factory anyway.

jump on any car performace forums and you will see answer. wrx, evo. I had and article

here it is have a read

    http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

Lol, ben... I jumped on to copy the exact same site

looks like you beat me to it!

    http://www.toyota.com.au/toyota/vehicle/Fr...84_1392,00.html

Most people who know a little more about cars just said jump in and drive as you like, and as you would most of the time

dealers and mechs included... no need to run in like you did with older cars.

  10. there's a back road into lorne that has some real tight twists and turns. It's like a mountain course. and it finishes 10 seconds into lorne. then we could go into Lorne and have Lunch or whatever and continue down the GOR?

plus the traffic isnt too bad this way and the slowerr traffic "usually" lets you pass. Just don't tailgate anyone cos the corners come outta no where (not for the faint hearted) :spiteful:

As long as we don't let our sights off the cars while we're in lorn, not terribly keen on leaving my car around while those schoolies kids are running around!

  11. I know the usual method of breaking in a brand spanking new car, is to take it real easy on the acceleration for the first 1000kms

just to make sure the engine is broken in and crap...

But i was speaking to a toyota dealer today who said that with the aurion that is not the case!

Aurions come already broken in so you don't have to spend your first 1000kms of your 200kw car driving like a grandma.

He even said that it might be a positive thing to open it up a little (being diplomatic for forum reputation reasons)

because the ECU remembers how you drive and adjusts accordingly...

    Can anyone confirm this??

Bottom line is I want to know if i can push the revs as soon as i get my brand new car that I've spent big $$$'s on. Or if I have to be really conservative with it until the first service?

  12. Ive seen that satnav on a zr6 ive seen at a dealership, they use a replacement DoubleDin Facia put a typical DoubleDin Screen unit into it like you would do if u were to put an aftermarket system in anyway.

It does look out of place because of the silver/black contrast and the more proper option cost a ridiculous amount of money, but I tell you what, Im going in a similar route as yourself, but I will be overlaying the facia to a different colour etc, perhaps a very dark carbon fiber look or at least anything that attempts to blend the black to the interior colour.

Check out www.dashdesign.com.au, im pretty sure they'll be others around your area... check out the gallery, theyve done a console overlaying on a current spec camry...

Ah, that sounds like a very good option, specially since I'm getting a dual tone blue/black leather on the seats and inside of the door. So maybe if i can find a similar colored overly for the facia it would be perfect! thanks for that! =)

  13. I don't even want to go to Avalon comparing it to the Aurion, lol.... Unless we are talking about the US Aurion I mean Avalon... :

Don't be fooled I reckon theres potential in this 2GE engine we have... Look at the IS350, same engine and N/A but managed to produce 230Kw and almost 400nm, and does 0-100km/h at a 'claimed' 5.3sec, that a niiiiceeee kick to the teeth to the Nissan VQ350 on the 350z which has 'claimed' same power but only 350nm torque and half a second slower :P.

Oh common, there's more than potential in these things, it'll crap all over those other little jap toy cars that kids are 'hooning' around in these days.

Holden and Ford equivalents won't even be able to eat our dust as we'll so darn far ahead!

consequently does anyone know the actually 0-100km time for the Aurion? let me know
