  1. the toyota maps are on dvd discs. therefore you can update them like you would Melways or Sydways or the like. It is easily burnt if you have dvd burner.

they sit in the dvd rom underneath the passenger seat. the lastest units have a newer firmware in the dvd rom which has a new user interface(blue instead of brown) more like the bmw ones.

  2. Lane Toyota (glen waverley) had the same deal on today (Sat 14 ) in the age for $24990 + on road cost which adds up to $27800 drive away. They have a Red one which is sold and a white one which is still avail. when i spoke to them last (2:30pm). Dididn't buy it as i wanted the red one :(

The car is sep 2003 build but will be plated 2004 as it is not registered yet.....

  3. i think its worth the $$$ to have a proper car kit installed. like everything else in this world, you get what you pay for. i installed the nokia bluetooth myself and saved $120 in installation. only took 15 min.

the hardest part was trying to figure out which wire was the mute wire on the factory deck (sat nav deck).......

  4. I think the guys name was Mark Rogers, he was nice to deal with but ultimately he had to run back and forth to the managers office to get the OK with his boss.

I think i might wait untill the new face lifted sportivo arrives in May, there might be some good deals to get rid of the old stock...........

  5. e-gene, i was told by the sales guy at MCT that the cascade blue on sunday morning that the cascade blue one is a 2004 plated car, and i was so very close to signing on the dotted line for $28000 drive away but we couldnt agree on the price of the trade in for my 2003 conquest with sat nav, they offered me $400 for the sat nav thats worth over $3000, what a *&^% rippoff.

  6. hi guys, i got mine for $1100 (off the back of the truck :D ) through this guy a in Melb, been trying to find someone or something modify the thing so it plays dvd's on the OEM screen...no luck so far, but getting close though.

I saw the guy install it, it looked quite simple, unplug the old one and plug the new one and a few loose wire connections (ones the speedo wire i think).

Anyone out there know where the mute wire on the unit is? hooked up my nokia bluetooth car kit to it but it only mutes when someone is calling in and not when dialing out.....very frustrating ......

  7. i had the same question when i bought my car 6 months ago. what i found out was that the dvd sat nav head unit does not have the capacity for extra aux inputs so there is no way of connecting an external dvd player/mp3/ipod etc to it.

Also the dvd rom that came with the system only reads data discs as it is not a dvd player.

There is only one option - an expensive one that is, is to get someone to modify and engineer an aux input so you can watch dvds on the sat nav screen. I was told by a guy i spoke to that he would charge about AU$750 to do it. On the other hand, you can get adapters to do the same thing but they are roughly the same price.

Take a look at this link

    http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...ST&f=26&t=9205&

it is pretty much what you guys need, just waiting for the guy to release and sell the thing, should work on our sat nav systems.

hope it helps, anyone with more info are welcome to add to this as i also want to play dvds in car.....

    cheers :)
