  1. Hey guys, Im not really new on this forum but been rather busy with work and fogot about going on here, but now im back and with adifferent ride, i use to own a 99 corolla, now i have a 6th gen celica i think its the one with 4 round lights at the front :)

  2. I just bought 6000k HID for my 96 celica, and it looks great, alot clearer and brighter then standard halogen, and you really notice the different once you get behind the wheel, so i definately reccomend getting HID. 6000k will be brighter in my opinion, you can go for 8000k if you want it to look cooler.

  3. I will chime in here and tell you that your car will lose power!! Shao did a back to back dyno at a few years ago with and without the rear muffler and putting the race pipe on and it actually lost from memory 3kw peak power and a fair bit more lower in the rev range.

And yes it was loud like very loud on a sportivo. Hows 113db grab your ears LOL

Niceeeee 113db, i am aiming at something really loud, i guess it will be stupid but itll just be for fun :P

So you'll be deaf while your being yellow stickered in your now slower Sportivo.

that sounds fairly accurate... have fun with that :s

i have a muffler and i find it loud enough, well actually to loud, so i plan on changing it soon, i got that muffler when i got my car , i thought it was cool. but no, i will get a sportivo muffler, been looking around for about 2 months for a good one :D

  4. here u go

Yeh ive seen all the videos, just not the same as in real life though, the sound quality wouldn't be the same as real life

I don't mind.. it will cost me about 100 - 150 so if it doesn't work out ill just take it off

personally i would have to say, go for a cannon over a straight through, as mentioned before if u were going on the track on if you have a turbo'd car then maybe.

lets me me tell u unless u love the noise dont go for it, since my mate has a turbo'd straight through i been in it, and im telling u i cant stand it, even he cant stand it, and he knows its a defect, well he does take it to the track so it does make sense for his purpose.

but like i said unless u love making noise and there will be a high chance you will get defected.

  5. Hi guys ive started parking my can underground since i dotn use it as much and i notice it slightly leans to the right ive never noticd when parking on the curb.

What could be the possible reasons? Since im a big bloke could it me my weight cause ing the spings to sag more on the right?

    cheers, will

If these are aftermarket springs, then check the coils in your springs on the lower side, some of them may have "collapsed" ie. compressed tighly than the other side. You might need a spring spacer of some sort to bring it level again or get another spring.

hey, hm .. if you still have these problem, i would check the coils, since that has happened to my car before, but it was only happened to one wheel tho, not the whole side of the car, so when i checked the coil it was slightly damaged, so i just replaced the coils and it was fine.

  6. Hello to all TOC forummers

I just bought a used Camry Altise 2003 and I thought I should participate in this forum to learn new things about my Toyota. This is my first and only Toyota although I had driven quite a few in the past. I've owned several Volvos, Nissan, Mitsubishi, a Suzuki, Peugeot and a Renault.

So why did I buy a Toyota? Having recently moved to Australia, I bought a Suzuki Grand Vitara (which used by my wife) and later found out we needed a 2nd car. I choose Toyota because of the good experience I had whenever I get to drive one. I like Toyota's philosophy of building cars that are reliable and durable. It may not be exciting but it serves the main purpose of owning a car i.e. to get you safely from point A to B at a reasonable cost of ownership.

Anyway, I hope I'll be able to participate actively in this forum.

    Thanks & Cheers.

    Steven

hey welcome!.... i once thought about buying a camry, but at the time it was over my budget, so i got a corolla, had it for over 3 years now. and still running smooth, yes toyota's are indded durable cars :D

  7. hi guys, im a new member, just wondering how many 112's are out there, im on the gold coast and i dont see many round.

    post-15299-1251971951_thumb.jpgpost-15299-1251971925_thumb.jpg

looks forward to hearing from everyone

    cheers

Hey how you going, i drive a ae112, and im also on the goldcoast, your ride looks nice and clean, welcome to the forum.

    see you around

  8. There is a way to do it. I think I still have my book for it at home. I'll have a look tonight when I get back to my house...

    Thanks mate. Much appreciated.

    Drew.

Edit: I'll just ask something else here instead of starting another thread... Will the ZZE122 Remote/Key work with the AE112r alarm/immobiliser? I need to buy a spare key and remote, so I was thinking of killing two birds with one stone.

hi, same with my 112r it doesnt flash when locking with remote, i would like it to flash tho, i was thinking of taking it to an auto electrician.

  9. gday...

guess those of you who have commented on this thread might be wondering if i went through with doing this...

well to update yall on whats happend so far... while just after i made my last post on this, i went and cut my mirror cover and for the last few months ive been driving around looking like this:

    08012008_004_.jpg

kinda sad.. make me not want to attend the monthly meetz :P

i also cut the hell out of my chrome mirror covers.. didnt actually get a pic of that (i think?)

anywayz to update you on whats happened now, i went to jaycar and got some advice on what i should do and this is what i ended up with:

    08012008_003_.jpg

ive got a cheap ***** soldering iron so i cant control the temperature... my soldering was a bit too hot, leaving not such a clean and shiny weld where the wires meet the circuitboard. it works anyway...

    08012008_001_.jpg

the lense isnt glued to the cover just yet... but ive soldered everything i needed to and drilled holes so that the LEDS can poke into the thingo.. kinda hard 2 explain without pics showing peice by peice..

but basically the the thing from back to front goes like this

    1.CIRCUITBOARD

    2.LEDS

3.BACK CHROME BIT (whats left of the chrome mirror covers. ive drilled holes for each of the LEDS)

    4.INDICATOR LENSE

5.STOCK MIRROR COVER (hole cut out to house the indicator lense)

there isnt much room between the stock mirror cover and the black plastic surrounding the mirror, so i am going to cut bits of it away so that itll all fit.

further updates as long as i aint got a job in the world right now...

    jase

wow~~ Good job~ looks nice, u make me want that now ... haha

  10. i would think the best thing to do is to change the whole engine, 4AGE :D i heard from ppl that said it wont be good tho.

since the AE112 is a FF. 4AGE engine came from a FR...

Most 4AGE engines were released in a FWD format, either in the AE82 Twincam, AE92 SX/Levin, AE101 and AE111 Levin/Trueno, and in the AW11 MR2. The only RWD format 4AGE that was released in any substantial numbers (and not in Australia, by the way) was the AE86.

oh wow nice , well there we go i learnt something new :D

well that is something taht can be done then

  11. Hi Guys and Gals,

Being a total newbie to this car world thing, you'll have cut me some slack. I'm picking up my new Corolla this week and looking forward to undertaking a few minor mods to get it looking and running better than it does at the moment. In its current state it's a factory standard 2000 Corolla Ascent AE112R Liftback, ocean blue and in awesome condition, pretty boring if you ask me but I picked it up for $8000 with only 100,000kms so I shouldn't complain. I'm not at all looking to spend thousands of dollars on this thing, I just want to do a few basic mods to at least get it looking and sounding better, so it doesn't look like my grandmas car...

My planned mods (if you would call them that) are listed below. It would be awesome if anyone could recommend particular brands to look out for, or point out any other small mods I could do, or get done without it costing me too much coin.

-Planned Mods are in this order-

    1.Tinted windows (Darkest Legal)

    2.Air Filter (Preferably Pod Filter)

3.Headlights (Just Those halogen light bulbs)

    4.Replace factory standard sound system

5.Possibly, a basic performance Exhaust when $ permit

6.Possibly some cheap second-hand Rims when $ permit

    7. Anything else guys? Maybe you could suggest your list of "best bang for ya buck mods"

    BTW, I'm in Brisbane.

P.S., This forum is awesome, I'm learning lots fast...

    Cheers,

    Tim

    nice, i also have a AE112 but "99"

still saving up for my stereo, and looking for a good body kit, but havnt found a nice one yet.

well you can update the front end like BNS70Y has... but won't be cheap LOL not many kits really suit the AE112. genuine is best!

yeh probly best to stay stock kit wise.

best bet is to go sleeper lol.... but that also wont be easy

  12. haha not much performance out of the 7A-FE. It's only for economy. You can do cold air intake like member on here Poggy did and 2.25" exhaust, extractors, etc for basic mods. Then if you want to get nitty and gritty... either go all out on the 7A with G heads from 4AGE, or do engine swap for 20v black top...

I'm at the moment thinking about 2ZZ-GE transplant... got to get around to asking the experts though when I get the chance...

i would think the best thing to do is to change the whole engine, 4AGE :D i heard from ppl that said it wont be good tho.

  13. Just wanted to say hello as this will be my first post. Just bought an 04 Sportivo about a week ago, searched around the net and found this forum and going nuts over how much i wanna do to this car now.lol (this sites given me too many ideas, hopefully my wallet can keep up...................alotta ovatime to do now. :( )

I went to a few exhaust places in the last week, they all reckon that i should just change the cat (all they said was a high flow one) and muffler as the piping and the extractors on stock sportivos dont really need to be changed as i wouldnt notice much performance gain. Any thoughts on the matter would be greatly apprieciated.

Also is it cool to jus run a straight pipe from the air filter box to under the front bumper and remove the original piping or will it cause serious problems? We did it on my mates sss pulsar and it seems to go a better.

    Thanks for the help.

P.s Should the 04 sportivo have a "Sportivo" badge on the back of it? cause i only got them on the side skirts. All the back has is "toyota", "corolla" and the toyota symbol

    welcome:)

im queit new here aswell hehe

those rims sure do look nice :) and even nicer when photo shoped :D

  15. phillips diamond vision and crystal vision, although they are more expensive than the blue vision range, actually result in decreased visibility compared to stock bulbs.

so, when upgrading lights, are you doing it for the look? or do you want better visibility?

hm .... im using the phillips diamond vision, they seem to be fine, i dont lose road vision for using them definately better the the stocks i had in it.

  16. Hi all! I'm new to this forum, becoz i just got my self a manual ae112r corolla with about 150kms on it...

Ive owned 2 magnas before this..so this is a change i guess, could you guys tell me about those 1.8's? as i got no idea about them, like performance, fuel economy, maintainence, reliability or minor mods as it only has 85kw and 154nm..comparing to my 3rd gen v6 magnas which has 140-150kw and 300nms etc.. great appreciated!

hi, :) welcome im quiet new on this forum myself, i also own an AE 112,

only mods i have done on it is exhuast, and air filter. next thing to get is rims.

donot need to do many mods, just get a kit and rims. :)

  17. does all corolla need a custom pipe for pod filters due to the sensors are on it??

but wht will happen if the sensor wasnt in the pipe?

This = good luck getting your car to run

plain and simple .... the MAF sensor is how ur car works out how much petrol it needs to feed the engine based on how much air is being sucked in by the engine

So the long and short of it is either the kit is made with a mounting point for the MAF to sit in or u will need to make one.

hmm ic .. well mine is a 99 corolla not even sure if they make a adaptor for that.

bcoz when i was looking there wasnt an adaptor for it <_<

so my guess is its gona be alot of work to fit a pod for a 99 corolla
