  1. Had it installed by the profesionals at FHRX studios this weekend.... a couple more issues that I'm not sure whether anyone else with this unit is having: Tried out the DVD function and noticed that it takes quite a while (up to a 30 seconds) for the headunit to read the DVD (video or audio) before playing. However what kills the deal with my unit is the intermittent blank screen with the stupid warning message of "Warning please stop watch video player" while the video is playing. I tried watching the King Kong DVD and this annoying blank screen seems to appear at almost predictable times, with audio still audible in the background. The only way to get out of the blank warning screen is to go to NAV mode then back to SRC and select DVD again. The DVD video can then resumed on the LCD. I'm not sure whether this is an isolated problem with my headunit or other ppl also having similar problems. May have to drop Rob an email as well..... We probably have to tell Rob to read our forums regularly ....
  2. Thanks I think that's in deed the problem. The CD cannot be inserted fully into the headunit... I'll be heading back to my installer this weekend to complete the rest of the install (front splits, woofer, amp etc) so will get him to fix it up for me...
  3. Just had my headunit installed ... got bluetooth working nicely however I don't seem to be able to play any audio CDs (mp3 or usual ones). The CDs get quickly ejected by the unit, a short while after the CD was scanned for tracks. Does anyone know whats happening?
  4. This is not my own driveway but a random one that I turned into in order to do a 3 point turn kinda thing. Previously driving a non-sportskit camry altise I rarely scrape the bottom of the bumper. Just that now I'm doing it a lot more especially if I'm in a bit of a hurry. The scratch on the bottom aspect of the front bumper... I can feel its now rough and basically the black plastic is exposed. The scratch can't be seen unless from below. However I already did a similar scratch which is A LOT more visible at the front right corner of the bumper while parking 90 degrees to the kerb. It's ~8cm x 0.5cm exposing also the black plastic (my ZR6 is silver ash). I got quoted $300 for respray the other day and glad I didn't get it fixed yet. I'm just telling myself that these things are almost inevitable with sportskits and steep inclines. I've been reading online about how to respraying (including the clear coat) but just wondering if anyone here actucally fixes this kinda thing themselves with good results. I live in Zetland in Sydney and would like to know if there any good paint-mixers in the area closeby.
  5. Was parking in the rain last night and blo*dy H*ll scratched the front bumper (down to black plastic) at another one of those steep drive-ways AGAIN. This is like the 3rd time since I bought my ZR6 since february and it's sooo frustrating. I've found that with certain steep driveways it's almost INEVITABLE for the front bumper to be scraped. With this sportivo bodykit so low I'm now starting to get phobia driving up driveways with this car. Never had trouble with my old camry altise.... this is really driving me nuts. Glad I didn't get my last scratch (right side of bumper/front side-skirt) fixed yet (quoted $300 for respray). Probably will accumulate a few more scratches before getting it all fixed up. I'm also contemplating fixing it myself with matched spray-paint (never done it before though). Anyone has any experience with that?
  6. Yeah would love to know too... hope we can also get our own remote...
  7. What The? I sent Rob from Auspack an email yesterday and he said he was expecting the new stock to arrive today (28/05/08) and didn't mention anything about this stock already being pre-sold. I was just about to make payment until you said that but now I'm hesitant about waiting a further 2-3 weeks. Better send him another email and ask for confirmation about all this. Yeah was told all 20 new units have been sold and there are already 2 on back-order. I told him to add one more for me.... Kinda disappointed coz really been wanting to get a GPS unit for my car for awhile. Nearly took the plunge on the TomTom 720 unit at Harvey Norman last week.
  8. Just called up Auspack today and was told I've just missed out on the latest shipment. Next shipment apparently due 2-3 weeks. Urghh... Was also told we could probably install Tomtom on it .. which would be GREAT news...
  9. I'm very interested in the unit as well but as I'm not very technically gifted with car audio installation I think I'll get a professional to install it. Anyone know if there are any places in Sydney South/ Wollongong area who might do it for me at cost? Also has the new stocks arrive yet with improved functionality? P.S. Is the GPS map upgradeable ourselves? (Route66 or TomTom)
  10. Would be nice to be able to install TomTom onto the unit ourselves (it uses WinCE right?). Route66 looks kinda crap to me compared to the Tomtom. Anyway I probably will get a professional to install it. The cabling seems kinda hard for me to manage around the car. BTW does $899 include the rear camera and maps as well?
  11. Can I ask how much did that set u back including installation? Looks very impressive!
  12. Been reading around different forums and getting conflicting opinions about which fuel to use. Some say they get power boost from 98 octane fuel that is noticeable as well as better mileage (e.g. 500km vs 650km per tank). Some say there's no difference. Some forum members here use E10 and found good mileage and some say it sucks .Please post your opinions here if you don't mind. I've still yet to refill my tank since picking up my car, but probably will have to do so in another 100km or so...
  13. I was thinking of that as well when I first park the car as I knew I'd probably easily forget to release it (now TWICE in 2 weeks). So I probably leave it off when I'm parked at home.. it's flat enough I think...
  14. URGGHH!! Second time in a row I reversed with the footbrake still ON from the carpark this morning while I was in a rush. Still NOT used to the thing at all even after 2 weeks of getting my brand new ZR6. Glad the alarm went off just when I was gonna gush off in D. I hope I haven't done too much damage to the foot brake reversing on it for about 5 meters...I think I heard a CLICK when I changed the gear to D.... Is it just me or is it common for ppl who'd not used foot brakes before to do this??? May be its just me damn it.... My last car btw was a 2003 Camry Altise 2.4L with hand brake.
  15. Congrats on the new buy! I also just picked up my ZR6 last Sunday and have done 220km on it driving between Sydney and Wollongong. I got mine for 40k driveaway, tinting and full floor mats so I believe it's a good deal. No mistake this is one fast car compared to the 03 Camry Altise 2.4L then I upgraded from. Now searching for a nice GPS unit with bluetooth (refused to pay 3.5k extra for the Sat Nav). Probably gonna go for the Garmin Nuvi 760....
