  2. Yep my kluger also gives off that f@#kng smell even if the car is sealed(all windows closed and vent in recycle mode). I keep on telling toyota service about it everytime i get the car serviced and they keep on telling me that everything is ok (their computer not indicating anything wrong). They said that they have resetted the computer for me. This did nothing still getting that smell and it seems to be getting worst and i think the airconditiong is being affected as well, because when i turn the airconditioning on there's a bad smell coming from it as well.

I rang toyota customer care about it and they said to put a higher octane petrol. I said to them why do i have to fork out extra dollars if the minimum requirement of kluger is the normal 91octane petrol. The lady i was talking to said, thats the only suggestion she can give me and could not comment anymore.

Anyone having the same issue can ring up toyota customer care so that they can be made aware or the problem and not just take it for granted we paid a lot of money for the car, they should be doing something about the it. phone. 1800 252 097 (Mon to Fri 8am - 6pm AEST).

  3. I should add that the switch assembly I was sold was for the Grande @ $216 - it has the extra switch position for the light sensor.

Im not sure what the KXS switch assembly is worth, but it should be cheaper. It would have the fog light dial on it.

P.S. Don and Jer - I want to see photos! We should start a 'KXR with Fog lights club' B)

KXR fog lights club - sounds good...lol

Anywayz i'll post some pics once i get everything done....still waiting for my foglights and bezels....cant wait...

  4. I should be able to help you with the wiring details, have you decided how you are going to switch the lights, same as Scott with new stalk or with aux switch replacing the blank in the dash?

I havent got it all detailed yet but after I have decided and commenced the installation I will pass on my findings, maybe a week or two

Thanks Don I'll probably do it without the stalk and go with the Aux switch. BTW how long did it take for your fog lights to arrived?

  5. Fog Lights arrived from Hong Kong today, great value, still waiting on the bezels from Toyota maybe 2wks.

i'm doing the same thing Don...but still waiting on the fog lights. the bezels are arriving in 3weeks....

A big thanks to Scott for the wiring diagrams......

Im still trying to figure out how to read the diagrams.....not that good with electrical symbols.... :o

  6. Hi there Scott well done with the install.

Just wondering would you be able to post the break up of the cost involved for each of the parts.

    thanks in advance

    jer

    Hi Jer, sure, here it is;

    - Toyota fog light bezels; $65 each ($130 the pair) (perhaps ring a few dealers, the prices vary)

    - 2007 OEM Camry Fog Lights; $87.99 inc shipping - http://stores.ebay.com.au/Breakparts (there are other sellers, the fogs for the 4 door Yaris will also fit)

    - Toyota Switch Assembly (indicator stick that includes the fog light dial) - $216 (same again, ring around as prices vary)

The camry fogs come with all the needed wiring, switches, relays etc, if you wanted to run it through yourself. I chose to use the factory wiring thats already in the vehicle.

Thanks for all the info scott...you're a champ

  7. Hi everyone.

I bought a new KX-S last week and I was wondering if the Toyota boot liner is compatible with the third row seats in use.

    Thanks.

If your referring to the kluger rubber cargo mat, which I believe is the best option I fitted for a mere $85.

Yes, you just curl it back enage the third row and flip it back over when the third row is recessed again. Really no pain and a 3 second job at that.

$85 very cheap!!! usually it's more than $120...you got a good bargain...

  8. I think if you need to have baby capsules in the third row, you probably have the wrong car.

Access isn't too bad, but trying to manouver past the second row with a baby sounds like a bad idea.

I agree pretty hard to get in the back while holding the baby...second row seats has 3 anchors to fit 3 baby seats anyway...

  9. If you want to try globes try Philips Bluevision(4000k yellowish colour beam $60) or if you want whiter beam try Philips silvervision or crystal vision but their around $100 from autobarn.

Im not sure if the HID is any good as i've never seen one before but you can get cheap HID kit on ebay for around $85.

  10. Is it a drive-by-wire throttle?

It is a drive by wire throttle.

After everything I've read about the Kluger traction/stability control and what I've seen with the cruise control, I'm starting to think that Toyota's solution to criticism that their previous sowftware was too obtrusive was to just introduce a delay to when it operates.

Traction control in a front driver is always going to be a hit and miss situation. As you accelerate in it, the weight is transfered to the rear and therefore it is easier to get wheelspin. When towing, the front will always lift a little, therefore even less weight through the driving wheels. The same system in a commodore works far better. I have a barine SRI(FWD) and the same thing happens, if i push it hard, it will start protesting lots! Remember, the kluger has over 200 killer wasps going through the wheels.

I will be going for the AWD.

So is it worth the $4500 and go for the AWD?I was told if you not really using the car for off road its not worth spending the extra $4500 for AWD.I've ordered a FWD grande(arriving July) , thinking of changing to AWD.What do you all think.?

I reckon go for AWD...if you dont want wheel spins,,,

  11. Hi Guys i'm thinking of getting the genuine sidesteps for my kluger the lowest price i've been quoted is $880. Just wondering if this is a reasonable price? Can anyone recommend a dealer in Sydney that might be able to offer a better price? thanks

  12. Hi there Scott well done with the install.

  13. Towbar $900-$1000

    Roof racks $400-$500

    Side steps $900-$1000

    Front weathershields around $100

    Bonnet protector around $100

these are the prices the salesman gave me you can negotiate when you buy the car.

not sure about the other items you've listed.

  14. i just bought the cross bars that go accross the rails at penrith toyota for $182. it was trade price though cause my cousin has an account with them. i shopped around first though cause every toyota i rang had different pricing so i went to the one who had the cheapest then got my cousin to order it :D. the genuine toyota cross bars have a max weight load of 75kgs though what did u need it for?? we bought ours to hold the roof pod we bought for our holiday. which had a max weight of 50kgs so it worked out well. they quite good too they slide accross the rails so u can have them at different lengths.

Its actually the roof rails i'm after..not the cross bars as the roof rails dont come standard in kx-r. It's a very good price for cross bars though, they're usually around $400 last time i checked.

  15. Hi Guys,

Just want to find out if it is easy to install those roof rails from kx-s and grande model. Because i want them they look really good unfortunately i can only afford the kx-r model :( .

Also does anyone know how much they are and where i can get them? Would toyota spare parts sell them? I haven't had a chance to call them yet. thanks.
