I was looking at getting the Kappa Alloys for the ZRE Corolla. I was wondering what type of Tyre's would be the best all rounder for the 17" Kappa's? I was originally looking at some Dunlop SP Sport Max tyres when I was looking last year. But im not 100% sure now. I wasent after anything designed for racing, im driving around on your typical Melbourne Roads. As long as they are safe and grippy! What are peoples thoughts? Cheers.

Sweet! michaelweare where did you get your unit installed? Are you in Melbourne? Ive been quoted around the Low 2K Mark to get it installed (ranging from $2200 - $2400)

Just spoke to my local Toyota dealer (Nunawadding Toyota) in Melbourne. Spoke to a guy in Pre Deliveries. He informed me that the little vent is indeed blank with nothing in there. It is left over from a bluetooth setup you can get in Japan. When they fit the 'Genuine' Toyota GPS Unit, they dont put the MIC in there normally apparently. But he doesn't see any reason why you couldn't put it in there. He also recommended I look at the Eclipse Units. The only thing concerning me now, would be how long the MIC Cable is, and if it will reach!!! are the extension leads if need be?

Bluetooth MIC or Temperature Sensor?
Pauly replied to Pauly's topic in Corolla / Corolla Sportivo Club
One thing im abit stumped on. is how you are meant to put the wire from the top of the roof where this map lights are (if this is indeed an empty spot), down to where the headunit will go? does anyone have an idea? looking at that image, will the cable need to follow the roof and windscreen meet at the top, then move down the A piller into the dash, then into the headunit? One thing which is also abit concerning is the fact that the curtain airbags are in the A piller too? -
Bluetooth MIC or Temperature Sensor?
Pauly replied to Pauly's topic in Corolla / Corolla Sportivo Club
Does anyone have a guide on pulling this apart? There must be some way, because you will need to pull it apart to get the globes in the Map Lights when they blow one day... has this been mentioned on other threads in the past? Does the Aurion have the same maplioght/sunglass holder thing? -
Hey guys, I found this vent in my car, and I was wondering if it would be possible for the MIC for the bluetooth to be housed in there: I know the stock headunit has the Bluetooth MIC built into the headunit itself. However I was wondering if that vent is a temperature sensor of some sort, or if it can actually house the Bluetooth MIC. As you can see one of the vents is closed over, but the one on the drivers side is open. So I was thinking it may be used as a Bluetooth MIC overseas, but in Australia they dont do it? What are peoples thoughts? I have made a thread in the Corolla Forum to see what their thoughts are, but let me know? Cheers.

Hey guys, I have made a thread in the Corolla Forum. Because I have found this in my car: There is a vent in the map lights/sunglass holder on the corolla. Now I know the MIC for the Stock Headunit is in the headunit itself. I was wondering if I get a In Dash Unit with Bluetooth, the MIC's from what I gather are a separate thing, Is that vent able to house the MIC? or is it a temperature sensor of some sort?
-
Hey guys, I am in the process of looking at getting the Eclipse AVN726EA In Dash GPS Unit. For the bluetooth it uses, it has a separate MIC that needs to be installed somewhere in the car. I was wondering if the MIC can be put behind this little vent where the map lights and sunglass holder are in the ZRE Corolla? Or if that little Vent is being used as a Temperature Sensor or something? Take a look at the image: One side is sealed closed, and one is open. I know on the Corollas Stock Bluetooth, the Bluetooth MIC is actually in the Headunit itself. So is this vent left over for bluetooth mics for overseas models or something? Can I use it? Post your thoughts.

Hey guys, I had a older thread, but I think I have found the GPS Unit I would like to get. I have a 2008 Corolla Levin SX Hatch (that flying butress console). I was after a GPS Unit for it, and after I found out the Genuine Toyota Unit (people seem to use the work 'Auspack' for these?), was around the $4000 mark or somewhere near there, I thought Toyota could go jump. So Ive been reading up on how Eclipse headunits seem to go together with Toyotas very well. and taking a look on the Aussie Eclipse website they have the: AVN726EA http://www.eclipse-web.com.au/Site/Product...be-3e5906103f0c QUESTIONS: - Will this fit into the current generation Corolla (ZRE) Double Din Headunit slot? - Does it pair to iPhones for bluetooth calling? - Can I use the iPhone as a iPod? and play music from it? - Can I continue to use my steering wheel controls? Cheers. Paul. EDIT: Looking on the website they have a image of it in all the current toyota models, including the Corolla, but it seems to be the sedan, not the hatch with the flying butress centre console, will this cause issues? http://www.eclipse-web.com.au/Site/Guest/G...eToyota#corolla They also mention that I may need to have a custom faceplate and stuff installed? will this be the case?

Pauly replied to Pauly's topic in Corolla / Corolla Sportivo Club

is the bluetooth mic also located in the head unit like the stock ZRE 6 stacker with Bluetooth? Or do I need to install a MiC somewhere in the car? The unit im looking at is this one: http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...rt=#entry331521

In Dash GPS in ZRE Corolla. Options and advise?!?!
Pauly replied to Pauly's topic in Corolla / Corolla Sportivo Club
Where did you buy yours from? and how much? Did you install it yourself? if so, do you have a guide of some sort I can follow? Also, where is the Microphone for the Bluetooth in the ZRE? I see a small vent above my head where the map lights are, one is closed over and one is open, is that where the mic is? -
Thanks for the help guys. I live in Melbourne, but thanks for the help. Which Double DIN GPS Unit would people recommend for the ZRE? I hear Eclipse are good. But I have no idea? Do these GPS Units come with the latest Maps? or do I need to purchase that too?

I was after getting GPS in my car. And I was after a in dash GPs solution. I was looking at the genuine Toyota headunit, but the price Toyota Australia are asking is just crazy! So I was wondering if there are any other headunit out there, that will fit the current Toyota corolla, pair via Bluetooth for the iPhone, and also work with the steering wheel audio controls on the ZRE corollas. The big thing for me is making sure the headunit I get, is comparable with the Toyota steering wheel audio controls. I have heard people mention Eclipse, Alpine, Pioneer and Kenwood, but there was no mention of if these work with the cars steering wheel controls. My last option I suppose is to get the geniuime Toyota GPS headunit off eBay. And install it myself? What are peoples thoughts? Cheers.

I was wanting to get GPS in my corolla levin SX. I was looking at the genuine Toyota GPS unit, and the asking price from Toyota is crazy! Are there alternatives to in dash GPS that fits the ZRE dash? I was wanting to keep Bluetooth, pairing with iPhone in particular. One thing which I really wanted to double check was if I change to a non Toyota head unit, that my steering wheel controls will still work with other brands? Or could I even order the Toyota GPS unit from eBay? And if so, what's the part no? Cheers. :D :D

well thankfully im not the only one. but is this common? any ideas on what it could be?

Hey guys, Im not sure if its the bloody freezing Melbourne weather causing this, as I did not notice it in summer... BUT in the morning when I go to work (my car is garaged most nights), then I put the car into reverse and go out of garage and out of my drive way (about 15m long). I need to clearly apply to brakes to keep control of the cars speed while reversing. When I do this however, I get a metalic poping sound (thats the best way I can descirbe it). It reminds of metal expanding and contracting and it makes that sound. When I put it into Drive and drive normally, I dont notice the sound at all. and once the car has been running and so on, and I use reverse, I cant notice it at all. So here is where im thinking its something to do with the brakes in cold weather. I dont think this is normal (please tell me if it is however). and its up for its 30K service in the next couple of months. What should I do? have you heard of this problem before? P.S my braking performance does not seem to be effected at present, I had to come up to a very quick halt from 80KM/H the other day, and the brakes did a fine job at slowing me down.

Optitron Combimeter OPTIONAL ON 09 COROLLA RANGE!
Pauly replied to Pauly's topic in Corolla / Corolla Sportivo Club
No Option Pack, its a standalone Option to add on. interesting... -
I was just reading the review on www.caradvice.com.au, of the 2009 Corolla Accent Hatch. And it had the Optitron Speedo equipped. Thinking that couldn't be right, because I know the 07 and 08 models you HAD to get the ZR Corolla to get it. Sure enough, going to the Build and Price your New Toyota thing on the Toyota Australia website. The Optitron Speedo, is a option across the line up now: for $1500 (I assume this doesn't include labor). So does that mean 07 and 08 owners can order this part in at their local Toyota dealer and have them fit it to their car? Post your thoughts! Im seriously thinking about doing this! Cheers. Paul.

does getting the trd suspension set void the warrenty of the car? Or since these are still genuine toyota and being fitted by toyota, the warrenty is not effected? Reason I ask, is because I know if you add the john cooper works kit to a mini, your warrenty is not void... Anyone have any ideas?
-
If you have seen my previous thread, im having alot of issues with my Corolla, but nothing that cant be fixed under warranty im sure... anyways! I was looking at perhaps getting some of the official TRD stuff added to the car. Going off this website here: http://www.trdparts.jp/english/list_auris.html I was looking at the: TRD Sportivo Suspension Set. Will that suit our Corolla's that we get here in Australia (the current generation model?), and how much should they cost to get the whole kit? going off that website and just converting it into Aussie $$$ it ends up being $2,208.68 just for the suspension kit!!! is that correct or is it cheaper in Australia? Cheers.

Toyota Corolla Levin SX MAJOR Issues
Pauly replied to Pauly's topic in Corolla / Corolla Sportivo Club
hey guys, it was bought brand new in April 2008. I placed the order for it in late December 2007, and it arrived in April. Its my 1st car, saved my ***** off for it. and now im really annoyed that all these issues are happening at JUST 20000KM on the ODO!!! I have the standard warranty that came with the car. I thought Toyota built their reputation on building quality cars? seems to be quite the opposite to me? are these common faults with the Corolla/Auris here and overseas?
