  1. Last night I've been trying to find an AEM or BLITZ CAI for my stivo but could not find any on the internet. However, I accidentally ended upin this website.

    http://www.fuelsaver.com.au/hiclone.php

Hiclone is a simple non-moving and maintenance-free device made of stainless steel, which fits inside the air filter housing of a carburetor or in the air induction hose on EFI, turbo, LPG or diesel engines. Which creates a swirling cyclone or tornado like effect to the airflow into the intake manifold and combustion chamber of any engine.

Hiclone has No moving parts and will therefore out last the life expectancy of any engine.

Hiclone maximizes the airflow and gathers fuel to the center of the air stream, then rapidly moves it to the combustion chamber preventing the adhering of particles to the wall of the intake system. Swirling fast-burn, near-complete combustion increases power output.

after reading the info on the website, i was very impressed. Much better gain (surely will not void your warranty) and better feul economy.

now my question is that would it have a synergistic effect with the CAI?

if so, will it make much different?

or if I don't want to void my warranty, I think I might get 2 Hiclones and either a TRD or TOM's drop in filter???

it'd be very nice if some of the guys who can access to the dyno machine test this thing out.

  2. It has also been scientifically proven that red is a faster colour, thus the TRD cold air intake is 50% better than the rest.

    ha..ha..ha...

how about i got a simota and paint it red? wouls it be as good as the TRD's?

i think the only thing i hate about the trd cai is u need u throw away the pod included in the system, right? and tht i don't like..throwing away my money for nothing.

anybody knows about blitz or where to get it? gain?

  3. how often do u need to repalce the pod or clean it??

danz, i went to the suprastore.com and was trying to find the cai for corolla but none was there. do u actually order the one for mr2? this is the american website, isn't it? how much does it take to send the cai over here?

    cheers

    tony

  4. or if u could recommend a place where i can i get and install it in SA, that'd be even better.

is it true that u need to throw away the trd pod if u want to fit it in the stivo? i search the forum and this is the impression i get. that's why i want to get other brands as i don't want to waste my money on something that i don't need.

thanks for every reply in advance.

  5. www.suprastores.com

go grab some AEM or Injen CAI there, should be around $300ish landed.

hi man, can u provide us with an intact link please? i clicked on it and nothing came up, it siad "under construction". or if you could provide me the telephone number of the shop, that'd be great.

    cheers

    tony

  6. hi guys,

i'd love to meet the corolla's owners in SA so that we could discuss and exchange someinfo about where to get the mod, where to install the parts, and where to dyno the car, etc etc. perhaps we can arrange th corolla's cruise too.

if possible for any of us in the area, please propose the date and the place.

    thanks

  7. welcome welcome welcome

another new owner...make yourself comfortable here.

other guys have already most of your questions, i think.

i have a small issue to add here.

i got my tivo last friday, have done only 300+ km in the last few days and already have an issue with my new tivo.

my car has a cruise control fit in and i suspect that the rattling noise from the right dash board when i hit >4k rpm originates from the bloody cruise control.

and once i hit 100 km/h i would hear very annoying noise frmo the engine bay. i will get this fixed this friday and will let u know the outcome.

it's quite a powerful car but doesn't live up to my expectation so we need to mod it a lot.

  8. oh..darn expensive

surely i can't afford for this and it's for tihs :(

and it's not for 2zzge either

so my next question is what if i mod my car to the level where i get 150 kw@w and do i need to change the clutch/flywheel?

i am sure that supercharge will be good but i can't go down that path

    cheers

  9. hi guys,

i've seen some of our freinds on the forum mentioned about the supercharge for 2zzge. any idea how much it would cost? and where to get it?

if we put the supercharge under the bonnet, do we need to modify the engine to accomodate this new part or not. another question is if i put one in, do i need to do anything with the clutch of flywheel or i can still use the stock ones?

thank you for your time. ur kind helpfulness'll be greatly appreciated.

    regards

    tony

  10. oh..no

does this mean that all mods ike CAI, exhaust system, exhaust manifold are completely useless???

man, you really freak me out because I am going to get the second hand TRD header and a brand new exhaust system?

can anybody clarify if these things do improve the permance on the tivo please? :(

i can still stop my orders.

    thanks, guys

EXACTLY the same results :), even with TRD air filter and after market exhaust the power output was the same. The only difference was the Air/Fuel Ratio which was showing Shao's to run a bit richer up untill the 6K mark then it jumped back into line with mine. So its more fuel efficent for him to run around all day in 'lift' :P

  11. Another break in procedure you could add, is to attend the Toyota Car Club cruise this Friday night.  :)

The details haven't been posted yet, but I'll put them here when they're up.

    Thanks everyone for the reply

All your comments are certainly helpful.

Thanks oz_viking, please me posted and I look forward to meeting you guys this friday.

  12. Thanks everyone for many useful tips much appreciated.

so let me summrise the all the fundamental things here.

    1. Use theentire rev range in 1st, 2nd and 3rd, vary the revs in other gears and give a good combination of driving styles (warm up the engine completel before breaking in)

    2. Hitting lift is fine but not bouncing it off the limiter - I presume occasionally, not often in the first 500 km

    3. break in period is the first 500 km

one question folk --> do i need to change the oil at 500 km or i should wait? according to motoman's website, we should cahnge it at the first 20 miles but my tivo had 50+ km when i picked it up yesterday.

when i picked it up yesterday, i notice that there is a small rattling noise from the right side of the dash baord too. also the engine in idle has a small rattling noise - i think it should run very smoothly and quietly at idle, any coment on this? i will take it back to the dealer on monday and ask them to fix this.

dylan, i will try the route you mentioneed in the forum tomorrow..

    cheers :D

  13. I understand that many of us have already discussed about breaking in the engine "hard push" VS "easy going".

Well.... could the experts/knowledgable persons out there, esp people in the racing industry or anybody who knows much about the mechanic comment on both methods?

i read the motoman's website earlier. i just got my car today and am trying his method. i hit the lift roughly 10 times today, do you guys think this is too rough for a new engine? and on the delivery, my car has already done almost 50 km.... a bit wierd too, any comment? this's over "golden period: first 20 miles". what the hec should i do?

next quiery is how long should i continue using the high revs? in the motoman's website, he mentioned about the motorbike, so i don't know if those figures apply to our cars.

i apologize for being repetitive here but any comment will be greatly appreciated.

    thank a zillion :)
