  2. Hey guys, Some of you might remember me on here with my old ST165 GT4 Celica. I still have it, But sadly due to a major engine problem she i currently hiding in my garage. But i have managed to pick up a 1984 MK2 Supra (MA61) Its very tidy and has been well looked after by the typical old lady that didnt know what it was... Never fear, I gave her a fair price for it. Before speeding off into the sunset. Anyway i will be posting pictures of it very soon. (When i can be bothered getting my camera out)

But i just wanted to reintroduce myself for those that dont know me. Im a major toyota fan. Mainly of the mid to late 80s models. And im happy to chat about swaping parts or planned or current mods. Chat soon - Seifer

  3. Looks good and sounds great mate. And i know what your going through lol i dont live with my mum but everytime she sees one of my celica's shes always "Why does it have to be so loud? Does that realy need a turbo on it? Why dont you buy a 4 door car? What are you gonna do when you have kids and can't get them in the back?? I saw this nice 4 door ford lazer the other day....." Ect Ect... Oh and i will be selling a ST162 for parts in the new month or so. I'll start a new thread when im ready to move it. So anyone in the Geelong or Melbourne area looking for bits for a 3s-ge St162 give me a shout B) Ps why does your air box look like its in a pie tin?

  4. Hiya all i'm new here, but was wondering if anyone has any past experiance in modding a 1990 celica gt4?

I am hoping to put in a 3s-gte from a later model it is a 1996 from a St205 model celica, but was wondering what else would be required to put the engine in e.g. aftermarket computer and so on?

if anyone knows or could help with a list of things that would be great.

Also eventually i want to really push this engine and car, was wondering what is the best type of internal upgrades to get when i rebuild her? e.g. cp pistons, eagle rods, acl race bearings, arp studs and that's all i know of so far if anyone could help with either let me know please.

    Thankyou.

When undergoing the conversion everything from the 205 will swap straight in im 99% sure. All I know for certain is that the 205 gearbox goes into the 185 no problems. Check out my Rides Thread if you want to see my old GT4 and what I did.

If you want heaps of information into this swap hit up www.alltrac.net/

But for more detailed info read into this thread: ** THREAD **

    Goodluck

Its worth checking out the wiringing too. You can have problems with the wiring not changing over in later models and imports

  5. Umm normally the answer would be no. Having built and rebuild a few celicas including my monster st162 "katana" i've found body parts will mostly not change over to other models. Having said that quite a lot of engine parts can change over even if it does take a little work. Sorry to hear about the crash mate. Always sucks. I lent one of my GT4's to a friend so he could look good on his date and he lost it on the B roads. Thankfully my friend was ok..... till i saw what he did to my car that is...

  6. Well i got my paperwork done and met my neigbour on the track. Point to Point drag race over 3kms... My Celica just couldnt keep up :( Keep in mind the pulsar is running some very heavy mods and a nice turbo system. Against my n/a celica, Even with the hours i've put into the engine and gearbox i still couldn't catch that little blue *****

I still beat him in a 3 lap race around the track.

The pulsar's short wheel base makes it nasty in the twisty stuff. Even so for now i hang my head in shame for letting down all the guys here who drive real cars.

Now maybe it is time for that trip back to the performance shop for that turbo kit :spiteful:

  7. *** i want your car, or motor

Hahahaha get in line mate, Edit to the last post. On the track today i found it only rev's to a bit before the 9000 rpm mark. Sorry about the error. The ST162 with the monster engine in it is off the road for now though while i try to find a way to sneek it past the RTA. After its back on the road it will be ready to line up against a Nissan Pulsar ET in a point to point drag race. The ET had been rebuilt by my neighbour in an attempt to prove nissan's are better than toyota's. And he has done a LOT of work to it. Last i herd it cracked and engine block from running to much turbo boost so it should be a good race

  8. so you were downshifting to slow down?

    and it just broke?

he might have to correct me but his motor is pretty worked for a 3sge non turbo, and im pretty sure his car would have a much higher rev limiter than the stock 7500rpm (i think thats the stock limit?) and to break the flywheel i would assume he did this often? try and driving at 100 in 3rd and then put the gear stick in second and drop the clutch, you can rev match it a bit if u want but its right on the limiter so... do it with your new flywheel and it will show you the kind of pressure it would be going through.

Yeah your right. I had done this a few times and my engine is pushing a bit more power out than a stock 3s-ge.. it also puts out more than some 3s-GTE's, My engine rev's past 9000rpm before the limiter holds me back. I should also mention i do work my car pretty hard most days. I like to show off what a little celica can do against... Well pretty mush anything that revs up next to me.

  9. Keep in mind that a lightend fly wheel also means a weaker fly wheel... Tried it once and yes it does red line in a heart beat but i managed to break mine downshifting to engine break and broke the fly wheel off at the crank. Keep in mind though my engine has had a bit of work done to it and this might not be a problem in a stock or almost stock celica

  10. Hi,

I have just sold my 1984 Toyota Celica to my step daughter for her first car.

She just got her licence (P's) today................. scary :( .

So I am in need of the passengers side rear tail light lens as mine is cracked

and I am sure it will not pass a roadworthy with the one I have.

If I can get any help with this that would be great.

    Cheers

    Rachel

    Hey Rachel,

Just to clear it up your after the plastic lens for a Third generation / A60 Series celica? Im not sure if the 3rd series have different tail lights for different models. But ill keep and eye out next time im poking around the scrap yards. What state are you in?

  11. ^2nd that..

do you regularly get the same mechanic to carry out your services?

Lol no thankfully. And yes for those keeping up with the mis adventures of my car it is the same mechanic that didn't know what engine he was looking at. For all this wonderful service and more call "John Watts Performance Tuning and Turbos" in Geelong. I can provide the phone number if anyone needs it...

  12. Not sure if you can see to well in this pic. But here it is anyway. This is injector number 3 from my ST162 that i pulled out after i noticed a odd hissing noise from it. I took it back to the Mechanic the day after he serviced it with this in my hand... He said i do remember dropping it but it looked fine to me... The part of the photo circled is ment to be covered in a black plastic, But if you look close you can see that at the end all most all the plastic on one side has been chipped off where the mechanic dropped it on a cement floor. Note the large part of the metal showing through... After a short chat we worked out that i wouldn't be charged for this service...

  13. Ok so i decided to go with the pod filter. But i need to know what size before i can order one... so if this isn't to stupid of a question, Where to i messure to find out the size i need for a pod filter? <_<

  14. haha a pink 5s, that wouldn't be so weird now i think about it haha

Don't worry about the dyno mate. If you find it, you find it. If not its all good!

I cannot BELIEVE they messed that up!! Why are they in the 'performance' business?!! I bet they mainly work on nissan engines or something...

Still looking for the dyno. Its personal now! lol B) Umm not quite nissans but HONDA ~shakes fist~ thats what i get for taking my car to the people responsable for those annying loud civics with no power! Fingers crossed i get a phone call with some good news today. Driving around in my girlfriends lazer is painful. Even more so when my mates at work introduce me as the guy with the really fast car....Then the door of the rusty ford lazer opens and i step out....Ouch :(

  15. almost feel offended them mistaking a 3sge for a 5sfe!

Almost? Felt like they stabbed me or something. I'll leave the ladies with the 5sfe. Sorry to those guys who own one. But i think they should be painted pink so you know what your getting when you lift the bonnet.

  16. haha i can see it chewing through tyres now!

what a machine of an n/a 1st gen!

still cant get my head around those figures!

have you stumbled across that dyno graph yet? :P

Still no luck finding the dyno graph. Not from lack of searching though. its off the road at the moment, While the guys at the performance shop mess everything up on it. Example ordering parts for a 5sfe and wondering why they dont fit. Then calling me to ask what kind of engine it is? My answer "So your looking at the engine now?" "ahh oh umm yeah (insert bango sound here)" "well tilt ya head to the left..." "ummm yeah. i see a grey plastic looking bit..." "O..K... now whats it say?" "Duuh Yamaha 3S-GE" "Brilliant. Thanks for your call....beep beep"

First and LAST time they touch my machine :(

  17. Just wondering what the best option for a pod air filter would be for my st162 86 model. And is there a big difference in performance in a pod filter or the stock filter? As a yard stick i ran my car around our test track with the airfilter off and with the stock one on. Feels a lot quicker with it off and my lap times show it...but how much damage will i do without it? <_<
