  1. No other GPS manufacture seems to care about showing “Speed & Traffic Camera”, I don’t see would Toyota would? Especially if Whereis is allowed to include it in its data?

I wouldn’t mind getting a hold of version 15 also. Like Taka, I am willing to do the copying also.

    Cheers.

  2. I replied with.......

    Good Afternoon Elizabeth,

Thank you for your reply. No problems and I understand this happens with shared manuals. But it might be worth removing it from the Australian brochure.

  3. 3 April 2008 - Opps should have done this a while ago.. sorry....

    Good Afternoon,

Thank you for your email received by our Customer Relations Centre andwe apologise for the delay in responding to your inquiry..

Unfortunately the Compass feature listed in the owners manuals is not applicable to Australian Models.

Our manuals are used for world wide publication and feature Kluger models across the board.

  4. rzkman has a point; I thought factory setting for sensitivity is 3 out of 5.

Most sensitivity that comes on the latest do you guys think? I have to admit that sometimes only the low beam is on during dusk.

Yeah the park lights / fog lamps come on first then as it gets darker the full lights come on.

I'm happy to have the park/fogs come on first, but even at dusk they don't come on (sometimes).

If 3 is default I think I might try 2. It will be more of an issue coming into winter, if the weather is crap (rain etc..) coming into dusk would make me feel a little safer.

    Cheers.

  5. Thanks Taka for pointing out about the latency setting. I will have to get this changed as well during my next service to stop the lights flicking on an off when passing under bridges.

Although I asked the dealer to adjust the headlights to come on sooner, I don't think it made much difference. Next service I will ask them to put it to the maximum sensitivity to see what difference it makes. Driving at dusk, most of the cars already have their headlights on, whilst mine are still off...Kinda defeats the purpose of 'auto' if I have to switch it on manually everytime.

That's what I'm talking about rzkman. They need to come on sooner like at dusk but delayed so they don't flick on under every bridge.

  6. So I could have it to say, wait 3 seconds before the lights come on. But also come on when the ambient light is a little lighter then when they would come on, not that it’s a real issue, but the delay is a must.

Being able to adjust without going to the dealer would be great. Unless they need to plug into the car I wonder if there is a trick we could do ourselves.

  7. Would be great if it was TMC ready....

There are a few units already in Australia that do TMC from Tomtom, Garmin, Mio etc.... Some are built in like Garmin, others need an antenna.

The Grande unit is already a radio so it wouldn't be hard to do TMC....

... but we may be a little early 1 to 2 years before it's more common.

  8. Something I forgot to ask and may not be relevant to you... I forgot to tell them to set the auto headlight longer latency so it will not turn on under a bridge at cruising speed...

You know it looks like I am flashing someone in front, and I drive very politely at all times :whistling:

Yeah great point Taka. Was thinking the other day about this.... The thing with the auto lights is. I wish it would come on a bit earlier then it does as in if it wasn’t auto I would have put my lights on myself as it’s getting a little dark. But then I don’t like it coming on under every bridge every time.

But I think to get it stop coming on under the bridge they will need to drop the sensitivity down, but then it would need to be darker for them to come on in the first place which I think is to late anyway.

If you’re not confused now, I am. Hehe Sorry.

  9. It’s not so bad for us who know our speedo is out and we can compensate for that. Not that I’m saying it’s ok to be this far out.

But how about the people who don’t know their speedo is out and keep having people tailgating them because they believe they are doing the right speed but really the guy behind is doing the right speed.

When I took the Kluger to Sydney I had heaps of cars / trucks up my **** and I was thinking what ****holes. Then I worked out the speedo was out and when I compensated I had no more problems.

My friend just purchased a Outback and his speedo at 110kms is really 99kms. Now that would ***** me off.

  10. You do hear the message like "please proceed to the highlighted route" or "the guiding will start now"?

Yes and You have now reached you destination (when I arrive).

Which GPS system do you have bodin? The Grande one or the upgrade accessory?

It's a very strange problem your having.

  11. My Nov07 Kluger is the first time I've had a Toyota.

The speedo needs to be showing 118lm(No less) to being doing 110km

and 67 whilst actually doing 60km.

None of my previous new commodores every two yrs had such an error margin to deal with.

The dealer says thats within toyota's tolerance and the new au design rules require speedos to be "X" amount of speedo reading in overage.

At service time for every customer who complains about the high overage. They lodge a complaint notification to Toyota in hope a fix my become of it one day.

I would be happy with a 3 to 4 k overage at 110, but nudging towards 8 km is excessive and 7 k at 60Ks.

Have others here found the same??

Never checked at low k's but at 110km/h I'm only doing 104km/h.

  12. I admit its still fairly new to me but I am having trouble with the Sat Nav Guiding me.

After setting destination it tells me to go to the start point, and it tells me I have

arrived at my destination when I get there, but nothing in between. Any ideas!

Hi bodin. So no "Turn left in 100 meters" "Take 3rd exit" etc..... What does the screen look like? Is there a heavy blue line on the screen that you are following? Does a diagram pop up on the right hand side now and then as you approach major turns or freeway exits?

  13. Just got off the phone with my dealer and was quoted $396 + $200 for the install.

    I think I'll pass.

I thought I would call back and go the "I just purchased the car from you can you look after me at all on the price" and I got the new price of $455.40 + $200 install. This dealer is a joke, or they really hate me ;)

Might call around. Can anyone make a recommendation for a dealer western suburbs side on Melbourne?

  14. I found, at first, that I was much further away from obstacles at the front than I thought. I thought that the front sensors weren't working.

After learning to trust the sensors, it is as easy to park as our Camry was; there is not that much difference in size either.

If you don't have parking sensors maybe you should get them. They aren't that expensive.

Our last car was covered in scrapes and dents on the sides from other cars but we never hit any ourselves. It's nice to see that people actually worry about damaging other cars.

Thanks Mikeyboy, just checked it out, seem like I should have got the fronts instead of the rears. I wonder how much they will trying and sting me as I got the rears on delivery already. I'll give them a buzz tomorrow.

How do the front sensors work? Do they just turn on at slow speeds? Do you remember how much they cost you?

    Cheers.

  16. Hi rzkman. I sort of know how you feel. Always driving small cars it’s a big difference, driving my wife’s RAV helped a little. But taking the Kluger the first week I picked it up for a road trip from Melbourne to Sydney really gave me more confidence with parking and getting used to the overall size of the vehicle. I’m only on my second week and it’s getting easier. It’s like any car you own it just takes time for the car to become a part of your body, which will make it easier to judge.

I can’t really give you any tips, just drive as much as you can and become one with your Kluger :P

    Cheers.
