  1. On a warm boot such as when you just turn the unit off or back on, or when you have it off for a short period of time such as a couple/few hours, my unit will acquire the satellites close to immediately. On a cold boot however such as when you leave it overnight, it can take around one minute to acquire a sufficient signal, even longer if you start driving before hand.

Using iGO? I've found it actually picks up the signal almost immediately, but it takes a bit for the software to remember that you'd rather be following where you're going instead of the last place you turned it on at. Hitting the show my position icon (along the bottom towards the right) drops it back to following your position.

  2. Hi guys,

Thought I'd have a crack at replacing the loading screen for iGo8 with something a little more appropriate for an Aurion.

Disclaimer: not a graphic designer, can just tinker in photoshop a bit.

Here's what I came up with:

    loading.png

I've dropped it into mine and think it looks ok, here it is loading up 15 minutes ago (apologies for shaky hands):

    loading-incar.png

If you want to add it to yours you'll need this: http://tyrande.odynia.org/aurion/loading.bmp

    1. In your IGO8 directory find the data.zip file
    2. Unzip this somewhere (keep a copy of the original for backups)
    3. Copy the loading.bmp file into <where you extracted the file to>\ui_igo8\480_234\ (replace the existing loading.bmp)
    4. Zip the folder back up to data.zip and replace it on your SD card where you found it

If you're using windows XP/Vista too you can just double click the data.zip file, go to ui_igo8 and then 480_234 and drag your new loading.bmp into this file - it should zip it in there for you.

If someone else wants to have a crack at making a nicer one please do! Happy to supply the PSD for my attempt. :)

  3. Just one thing, how does the Ipod interface with the AVC-6901 unit? Is it via USB port on the front panel or cable with Ipod OEM connector into the rear of the unit? I assume full Ipod control via touchscreen?

OEM connector in the rear, full control on the touchscreen - the scrolling on the touchscreen is terrible though, you're much better off using the remote for the iPod control.

On the AVC-6901, I gather the bluetooth mobile phone integration works well and everything operates in override mode (i.e. can change sat nav settings and operate phone keypad while car is in motion) for the passenger of course ????

Bluetooth integration is average quality. Hearing them is good, mic pickup not so good. As soon as the bluetooth detects a call it switches to the bluetooth mode and disables all other sound. The keypad works fine but you can't change settings for any other mode (ie can't change sat nav settings while in bluetooth mode).

  4. Okay. All good now. After some careful measurements, I managed to barely fit the camera in above the number plate. That way I have now used the camera that was provided as well as having night vision as well. Bit of a hassle to install, but I got there in the end.

    Nice job!

Been looking at installing mine for my SX6 also, so no factory mounting hole - but you can see the spot where it should go. Was it just a matter of drilling there with the provided holesaw or something else obvious?

Might install mine this weekend :-)

    Thanks,

  5. One more thing,

does anyone have a photo of the antennas etc required for this unit when there installed?

    Does it look clean?

    Thanks

I never installed the TV Antenna but i did install the GPS Antenna inside the dash board on top of one of the centre vents (another member suggested this). It works flawlessly and is totally out of sight.

I've installed the TV Antenna but don't anticipate ever actually using it. Its there though if I ever get stuck somewhere (ie, the wife keeps me waiting somewhere) and want to use it.

I ran all three (TV, GPS, Reversing Camera) to the back parcel shelf down the left as per DKzr6's post here. I have photos of the whole process; I'm putting together a step-by-step for those thinking about doing it themselves.

  6. Depending on how you look at it, i don't think the seek buttons on the wheel are wrong.

If you use an ipod, and you want to skip to the next song you click on down, so you do the same with the steering wheel buttons on the Auspack Unit.

Normally with music - cd or ipod, you read "down" the list. It seems logical that you would press down to go "down" the list of music.

    Up to go back.

Likewise with the radio - you start at the top of the screen with the presets, and then scroll down the list, using the down arrow.

    Seems logical to me.

Actually to skip to the next song on my iPod I use the >>| button, on the right hand side of the touch wheel :-)

Can anyone else confirm whether their steering wheel skip controls work the same way? If they all work this way then so be it, I'm already used to it and it doesn't bother me. If our units are backwards though compared to everyone else then I would like it fixed if possible. :D

  7. Its a pretty good unit. I'll second (or third, fourth etc) most of the observations from the others who have posted. Aside from a couple of minor issues the unit functions perfectly. It feels solid and is definitely looks like part of the car. Most of my mates have assumed it was factory fitted.

Where it does fall down on though is documentation - if you're not sure what you're doing your best off getting it installed professionally, and a glossary for some of the more obscure acronyms would have helped too.

Otherwise it "feels" pretty damn awesome! Definitely worth what I've paid for it.

  8. Is your seek buttons on the steering wheel working around the wrong way?

Finally went to use the seek buttons today - and they're backwards! My radio reception sounds alright though, but I think I'll double check the pins anyway. Did you end up with a resolution to the backwards buttons? If not I'll shoot an email through to Rob so there's more than one customer waiting on a fix.

  9. Hi Guys,

Not sure if you can help however I have the Prado running V10 and it is really crap based on what i am used to...can this unity be upgraded to the Auspak one does anyone know?

    Si

    Hi Olywood,

I'd say no, probably not. The AVC-6901 that we're talking about here is designed for the Aurion/Camry. However, Auspack does sell the same unit in generic double-din configurations (I believe it is the same unit, can't say for sure).

Your best bet would probably be to email Rob @ Auspack (see the website) and he'd be able to give you a definite answer.

  10. I would be willing to upload the whole Igo GPS program if someone can give me any suggestions? Then all you would obviously have to do is to transfer the file, as is, onto your SD card and away you go!

Here is a link - http://rapidshare.com/files/122782141/IGO8_PNA.zip.html (It should have the sys file configured for you already)

Now you need to find the Australian Maps file to go with it.

Downloaded and unzipped fine here. Many many thanks!

  11. I'm sorry but no-one is going to hand out the software to you. We all have spent days looking and downloading ourselves to get it working. It's all a frustrating but a learning excersize.

I wasn't asking you to? (unless you're talking to fatsatman?). The keyword in my original request was purchase, as in does anyone know of a local distributor?

  12. I senond that!!

I see in an Aussie VW forum people are playing around with their unit (which has exactly the same software as ours except it's made specifically to suit VW vehicles) and playing around with it to try and change the user interface and stuff. Worth checking out this forum, learnt a lot of stuff from there.

I strongly urge you to have a look:

    http://www.golfmkv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39584

    Nice find!

There's a load of useful information there with what they've found, including changing the satellite navigation software from Route 66 to iGo/MIO.

Will have to spend a bit of time catching up with what they've posted.

    Thanks,

    bok
