  1. I had a aftermarket alarm installed but it didnt want to work with the existing stock immobalizer, so had to rip it out and that wasted me $350.00 I then went and had a factory alarm upgrade installed $450.00 and it work perfect with the existing stock immobalizer and only using the factory remote key. you can also install a window lifter kit at the same time, this will close all your windows when you lock the car :) hope this helps. Where did you get it installed and which kit did you get? I don't think I need/want a window lifter kit unless it's really cheap! But I suppose it wouldn't really work for me since the Ascent's rear windows are not powered (unlike the base Yaris which has 4 power windows!). If you could give some contacts it would be great :) I tried calling AAMI but they said there were no incentives at all for installing alarms :(
  2. Hey people, I'm thinking of installing some aftermarket car alarms that will integrate with the stock immobalizer and key, I've e-mailed a few shops (can't remember who but I e-mailed some Flashpoint installers + some others) and does anyone have any indication of brands and cost/features? I'm located near North Sydney.
  3. I'm the starter of that thread and I got my new Automatic Corolla Ascent Sedan (April 08 build, April 08 compliance) for 22,096, including metallic gray paint, floor mats, premium plates for free and headlamp protectors for $93. They had the car in stock so I'm not sure about the cruise control and airbags (I think it's a $1.5k upgrade) if they have to do a factory order. Apparantly 22.5k is the lowest most dealers will do in Sydney for an auto with metallic paint as I have tried haggling hard with a few other dealerships. You might be able to get a new manual Corolla Ascent for about the 22-23k range I suppose with the options you want. The 2nd best offer I had was 22.3k for a white (non-metallic) automatic stock ascent with floor mats (seems to be a popular freebie, it is pretty handy as I had a look around and can't really find mats that would perfectly cover the entire backseat area! It doesn't look as nice as the pics though, for sure.) and premium plates. The only reason I chose the Corolla over the Mazda3 was fuel economy and TCO based on resale value and maintenance. Haven't tried the Mazda 3 yet but it is allegedly a better drive. :) The Lancer ES retails for a little less I believe but the TCO would probably be higher.
  4. I bit the bullet today and got a new april 08 graphite gray auto ascent for 22.1k with mats, premium plates and headlamp covers from Castle Hill Toyota. Not the best deal but I think it's not too shabby either. Will probably get the car ready next weekend, can't wait!
  5. Did you get any extras (metallic paint, floor mats etc.) for your Ascent or was it just the base model with the auto transmission? Nope. Don't have a car atm. I'll try some papers, do you have any to recommend? I was wondering what sort of accessories that would be worth getting from the dealer. Will I be able to persuade a dealer to throw in airbags and/or Bluetooth integration for free for around 22-22.5k?
  6. Sorry, I'm in Sydney. Thought the location would show up on the profile.
  7. Hey guys, Posted this in the UK forum this afternoon (duh!), so I'm reposting this here. I'll be shopping for a new (first) car soon, and I hope to get a good deal this end of financial year (or end of May, apparantly the end of month is a good time to bargain too!). I was wondering if anyone has bought the 10th gen Corolla Ascent and what sort of price did they get for it, and obviously when... I'm specifically looking at the Automatic Ascent Sedan, and not particularly fussed about colour (the default white looks fine). If anyone could give me some bargaining tips and figures it would be much appreciated. I'm trying to go for 20-22k drive away, as I heard the Lancer ES was going for about 19+k (not sure auto or manual) drive away during the end of the last financial year. Does financing or buying outright count? I'm definitely not going for dealer financing though. Are there any accessories that are worth it? The only thing I can see are perhaps mudflaps and carpets. I wouldn't be drive long distances often, so mostly urban driving! Thanks!
