  1. Hi all. Hope some one can help! My folks owne a 1976 hiace panel van (rh11vb).This ace was bought in 77' and has only givin us great service. I've alays bien able to get the parts from the local toyota agent and keep her running. But all good things come to an end some time or other. The van has bien standing for 4 months now dew to a steering ball joint that needs to be replaced. We are now looking for a ''drag'' link. Its the long rod under your feet from left to right with one ball joint on the driver side. South African stock is no more, so well have to import one if we must. Does any body know where we could buy a new component?
  2. Wow! Time goes bye. I,m still driving the Smurf. I have left the buter fly out and have not had black smoke for a year so far! Lets hope it stays that way. Since my last posting I have done some work to it. I started it up at work one morning and found it leaking diesel onto the floor. A big mess, it was some o'rings on the pump that needed replacing. The o'rings whent hard of age and heat. I removed the pump and replaced the o'rings where possible. After that the turbo oil seals started leaking on the intake side. I'm still yet to fix this as it only smokes after idling for more than 10 min. as soon as you drive the smoke goes away. Now as of this year the car has gone 19000Km south to Cape Town. As I moved back home. Here I'm back in my work shop and things will start to take shape. will post some pic's.
  3. Thanks boet see you all on the web!
  4. Hi guys I've got a brain teaser for you witch I cannot find the info for on the net. I have a Toyota hilux surf LN130 2.4TD. As we all know these tend to smoke a bit under load like pulling away over taking and so on.Well two nights ago I did some thing I have asked around about in work shops, what would happen if I removed the main butter fly from the throtle body, would it mess with my boost control? Well all I got was shrugged sholders. So I removed it and yes the smoke is a lot less pulls alot better at low rpm and a bit more throtle sensitive. The down fall is that when I switch off the motor it's stops ruff, when you drive for a half a hour or more on the motor way that responce goes away to standard and motor more noisey. Now my question, is it bad to run it like this? Do I have to get an inter cooler for long distance driving?
