  1. lol in my industry looks arnt anthing im covered in dirt, mud & grease half the time so if u aint got the personallity then ur not worht talking to so0 goo pete nice to hear it:)

but remember looks is what gets them to walk up and talk to u from across the room - but a nice smile can do it just as weell as anything

    Thats true!

Its an initial look that gets someone in and draws them to you. Regardless of what other people might say about attraction and true love...etc etc etc.

It might be a smile, a wink, a glance but its something aesthetic that always lures!

  2. Ummmm.....Trendact,

When our good friend Rob said "shiver down my spine" he meant that in a good way, not in an attacking way.

Rob likes the old skool Corollas and actually has plans to build one someday in the not too distant future.

He wasn't dissing your car(s) nor have any of the people here.

Thanks for telling us how you feel though and thanks for the smileys to make it look light hearted.

Sorry if you've been mislead to believe we look down on the older stuff or something, but that was never the case.

No hard feelings though, hope to see you at the cruise!

  3. Just get a real cars guys, LOL just jk :D

you know what, thats true to an extent...

i love the 2zz motor, and i think the sportivo is a very good performing car, but at the end of the day, you're driving a corolla... and whiles its great because its got a nice mix of performance, and fuel economy, and family-car-ness, its not a high performance car, and its not really designed for the 1/4, or the track. its designed to be driven around the streets, and there's the opportunity built in for some spirited driving...

if people wanna spend the money on something they have been shown is better, why not go for it? if you're not keen on spending so much on your corolla, don't... but leave those guys alone who have, they just have different tastes and aspirations for their cars than you...

if CES made a 1zz exhaust system that was nice and cheap, and it proved good gains, id buy it in a second... but im just one of those people who can't justify so much money on my car in that area...

Lmao just taking the **** silva hahaha, nice to see people still have a sense of humour in here.

On a serious note i'll keep this thread going a tad and maybe morph it a bit. A mate who own's a yellow S15 Jap Spec Silvia had a CES exhaust system (+headers I think?) fitted to it. I think that my be a better example that CES 'do' know what they're doing as he'd had some insane increase like 40kw or something! I think the main problem is people really don't want to spend big bucks on minimal gains on a car that is a nippy little street car. Eg: $5000 poured into my mates S15 for engine mods turned it into an instant 12 second car! And now he's cracking 11's with a computer upgrade. $5000 into our cars gets about a 30kw increase adding it up. Want power? Go turbo or S/C really (or convert and get big a55 cubes behind you heh).

I've said it before and I'll say it again though, 'everyone is different'

Silva...you and I contrast against each other as an example because we see different things in our cars. You wanted more power out of the motor, whereas I'm already happy with the power and want to trick up the handling. I think that is the beauty of modding cars, as there is always an uneven cascaded pattern of tastes that people can observe. Being unique.

I really don't know why this topic is constantly pursued.

I realise now why I no longer have the desire to check the forums daily as this is all that seems to go on.

The information sharing has slowed to a dribble.

As mentioned above and also in other people posts:

~ A high 14 second pass doesn't really excite me and spending in excess of 10k for the sake of a second is just a pure waste of money.

~ A Corolla is not a track car. Its fun for a fang and upsets a hell of a lot of poeple at the lights but thats about the extent of it.

~ If your a true racer, sink your teeth into something with big cubes and a top loader feeding power out back through an LSD. LOADS more fun and huge smile factor. As Rob said, even something turbocharged will give you a much larger bang for your buck!

~ Uniqueness is a good point. If you really want to spend 20k modding your Corolla i order to beat an R33 that can be had for 15k in total, then go for it. Your loss. (Or perhaps your just loaded!)

    And finally....

~ You probably wont ever see my Corolla on the track or the strip. But you will see it cruising the streets, turning heads and possibly even parading random hotties LOL!

    Over and out!

  4. Sheldon,

I think you should cut your losses with Quickfit and visit Vince at Injektd in Belconnen.

Hes not super organised but its not going to take him 5 weeks to get back to you about wheels.

I know Vince personally so I can take you there and introduce you if you like.

In the mean time check out:

    www.tempetyres.com.au

    www.allwheels.com.au

Vince can get anything advertised at these sites and pricing is generally exactly the same as anything listed.

As for lowering, he can organise that via Pedders in Belco as well. He gets a slightly better price than someone who walks in off the street.

Now keep in mind that I have heard mixed things about Pedders in Belconnen. I personally haven't ever taken a car there.

My suspension gets done by Chris at Inline steering and suspension in Queanbeyan. He is an absolute master and will treat your car with the same level of care as yourself. He always has a garage full of luxo's and exotics so rest assured he is trustworthy. The few times I have been out there i've seen a mix of Ferrari's, HSV's, Lotus' and Lexus'. He even used to do GTP Cup cars for Porsche Australia.

He might be a little more expensive than the rest but its well worth it for peace of mind.

    Any lowering job includes:

    • Supply of parts
    • Fitment
    • Wheel alignment
    • Additional alignment after 1000km (to allow springs to settle)

Just thought i'd provide some alternative info for you to think about. No pressure.

    ~Mick

  5. Personally, the Aurion hints at exterior styling similar to the IS250 but with squarer front and rear than the IS.

Interior layout looks like a nice evolution from the current Camry. Lets just hope they give us an alternative option of carbon look trim instead of that awful woodgrain. Grey/charcoal leather and plastics would also be a welcome option.

  6. All this sounds rather good but unfortunately I already have plans for this Sunday. I have friends travelling 400kms to come and stay over the weekend so I can't really change the plans.

Its rare that they come at all so that definately counts me out on Sunday.

I imagine I will be quite hung over!

    Sorry guys!

BBQ is good hangover cure Mick, especially Rob's Spicey Chicken :D

Bowral is a good idea guys, I used to go to boarding school at Chevalier College up there so I know my way aroung fairly well. Bowral is actually I really nice place to stop and have some drinks or something too. Very peaceful (boring as sh*t any other time tho lol).

Yeah no doubt the chicken would be good Rob. The guys wont be leaving til the afternoon though so I can't really up and leave them. Also, you guys are leaving at 9.30-10 yeah?

Theres no way i'll be able to legally drive at that time of the morning, I may not have even gone to bed yet!

Definately out for this Sunday, but if theres anything going on in the upcoming weeks, be sure to let me know!

  8. blue_rolla,

This is truely and awesome effort! I'm very impressed.

Personally i've thought about doing this but was unable to commit the time or the funds.

If this all gets worked out and you have the whole thing finished and running, i'd love to see it running.

I'd like to do something like this.

Is every component hidden? (except for the LCD of course)

Also, how do you get your car speakers to run from the sound card of the PC?

Final question: Figuratively speaking, what if you were in the situation where you have to format the Carputer. Does the setup allow you to switch the car off and run an extension cord into the car that will run the PC while you sit in your garage etc and perform the work. Or would it be easier to disconnect the unit and take it inside to connect like a regular PC?

  9. Hi everyone,

Seems another Tallowa Dam/Kangaroo Valley cruise has been arranged for the weekend after you guys have planned yours.

The lastest planned cruise is a charity cruise for cyclone Larry victims and looks like being attended by a few other car clubs from Canberra and Sydney.

    Full details HERE

    My question is this:

Are you guys going to go ahead with your cruise as planned or are you all going to postpone it a week in order to join in the larger cruise?

  10. Yeah Jimmy, I think we will leave the meet at the lighthouse as the regular location for our monthly meet. Thats of course as long as everyone is happy with that.

To be honest I wasn't even aware that there was an 03-04 showdown going on up front the other night. I was too busy jabbering on the radio to Richo about my headlights.

In other news.... seems another Kangaroo Valley/Tallowa Dam cruise has been arranged for the weekend after next. The newest planned cruise is actually a charity cruise to raise funds for cyclone Larry victims and is being attended by a few car clubs from Canberra and a fair few from Sydney.

    Full info HERE

I'm interested in possibly attending this one. Its for a good cause and an opportunity to meet other enthusiasts with interests in different cars.

    Post up some feedback people!
