  1. yeh i always run to collect mail from the PO Box and leave the engine running.

only thing is u cant arm the car while the engine is on. only way to lock it is to use the key.

also start the engine and let the aircon cool the car before getting in and driving off.

always wanted to try press the start stop button when driving the car... safest would be to do it in neutral... otherwise u wouldnt be able to start it? havent dared to tho.

  2. Ive made a reply to this before, so I will repost:

Sorry, should've done a quick search.

It states in the manual to NOT to do this....and apparently not good for the engine in new cars

I read the manual, and can't find where it says this. The only things about cold starting I could find were "Do not race a cold engine" and under the "How to save fuel section pg 215", it says

Avoid lengthy warm-up idling. - Once the engine is running smoothly, begin driving -but gently

Could you please give me a reference to where it says its BAD for new car engines? Still unsure whether I should leave the car for a while if it doesn't damage it..

    Cheers.

I had to pull out my manual and search this just for you...

Go to Page 201. "Engine should be warmed up by driving, not in idle..." continue reading that section in the manual.

I only heard its "bad" which by that I meant you are adding unnecessary wear and tear to an engine that does not require 15seconds+ warm up time. Imagine you leave your car to warm up each morning for lets say 3minutes, and over its life that add's up. Its best to leave it for few seconds, and drive very easy to warm it up, which is even recommend in the manual.

Your adding unnecessary wear and tear because in idle the oils don't move around properly while warming up in idle, so gradually warming up by driving lubricates the engine properly.

The MAX I would do in an Aurion is 1 minute in freezing Melbourne winters where it can be 5 degrees on some mornings.

My dad is old school and thinks I need to warm up my car like his old 92 carby engine :whistling:

    Hope this helps.

even in my twin turbo i wouldn't let it sit idle... i'd slowly drive it off and not rev it past 3thou.

different chains of thought i guess!?

  3. Apart from the fact that the subaru is ugly, you will find that the resale value on the premium models is terrible.

Hi had a 3.0r Spec B before the Aurion. Cost around 55k. Sold it with 59,000km, immaculate only 2.5 years old and could only get $30k

    Aurion should sell for more.

as a subaru man i made the switch... why because of all the gadgets. u cant get the same level of gadgets for anything close to 50k. maybe 70-80k in any other brand.

  4. pfft rrp... im azn... and azns never pay rrp!

id wouldnt even pay that installed?

Well let us know what price you can get it for then

found it online in malaysia for 480 ringit... which is $AUD156 today.

will try find out how much to ship it.

is ultra racing made in malaysia?

  5. i said to myself before buying the presara that i would paint the woodgrain or get rid of it somehow but i learnt to live with it. hasnt grown on me but i dont mind it so much.

it is striking when u first see it but yeh u get used to it.

give it a few weeks before u do anything.

i also wanted to color code the chrome bits on the exterior.

  6. and get the doors and other things programmed. will have to choose the options tho.

Hope you get it free. I tried the whole "while you are servicing my car and have the Intelligent Tester connected, could you change these settings?" They wanted to charge me still. So I got it done when I got my new key programmed.

I called today to get the oil line, shaft spline and programmage.

and asked how much to program they said free :)

    woo hoo...

now to search where the options are on this forum.

  7. I feel exactly the same after 5 trips up the coast in the last 2 months.... but......

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, beer in the other, body thoroughly used up.

Same goes for your car.. Live it up and enjoy it the way you have been. And while your at it goto your grandmas place and rip the plastic covers off the lounge chair you could never sit on then have a rest on it while eating choco ice cream with your hands.

Those are good words of wisdom as well. I do think about that sometimes as well. Mainly when I see the black car bras. I think to myself, why get a good looking front end if you are only going to hide it most of the time.

My car has built up some battle scars, but it's accumulated to the point that I start to care less about them now. It is my daily drive after all.

It's just one of those things that you wish you could prevent.

no matter how careful you are it will still get hurt.

unless u drive it once a month and do not park in public.

u can only do so much...

dont people paint it with the smoke thing and clear coat on top?

  8. but daryl, its interesting you say our car cuts the throttle going down hill. in slight hills, mine is still applied very slightly and i have to cancel the setting to let it coast down then reset it once the roads flat again. but on steep hills, obviously it cuts out once it realises what its doing

Mine is the same as this too - I've had it downhill on a freeway get as high as about 130 and it still hadn't dropped down a gear or anything... if anything it still has very slight throttle too. Problem with the Aurion though is that at 130 the car still feels so smooth, that you don't notice till looking at the speedo!

yeh thats my problem... you get so comfortable u dont look at the speedo and next minute ur like over the speed limit.

esp the suspension in the presara.
