  1. If the tow bar sits behind the sensor then I can see it setting it off. But rarely do they put a central parking sensor in the rear bumper, they tend to sit eitherside of the center; rather nicely out of the way of any possible tow bar.

Now that you have it on, how is it?

hi dave. well the sensors are on, but not the tow bar. i see what you mean about the sensors are spaced along the rear bumper, perhaps the tow bar will just sneak in between the two centre ones!

the folk at southside toyota (here in brissy) told me that if the towbar sets off the sensors, you can switch the beeper off while you've got the tongue & tow ball attached, and then take them off when you don't need to tow. its a bit of a pain as i like to leave the tongue& towball on to help protect the back end from people parking by feel in car parks etc.

i'll let you know how it goes when i've got the towbar fitted. i may need to rob a bank to get it fitted. best dealer quote i've had to get one fitted is $780, worst price almost $1200.

  2. OK so here goes with my stupid question ...

If you get rear park assist installed on a rav4 and also a towbar, does the towbar set off the rear sensors?

You see i'm getting rear park assist installed tomorrow and i'd like to soon get a tow bar too...

    Thanks very much

  3. 2008 Cruiser Auto, a touch over 10 litres per 100 km for mostly city driving if i am VERY lightfooted... no make that EXTREMELY light footed... more like around 11 litres per 100 km for mostly city driving if i drive without worry quite so much. i am really very happy with that. my previous car was a mazda3 sp23 and i didn't do much better with it despite it being a lot smaller. part of this is the fact that i drive the rav in a more laid-back way because it is a more chilled out, relaxing, refined & quiet kind of vehicle than the sp23.

  4. I've seen a couple of genuine deluxe nudge bars on eBay and side steps also. I believe the nudge bar has to be air bag compatible so may be good idea to get genuine.

When I can afford it I want to add a tow bar, sheepskin seatcovers and some cool decals. ;)

i would only get a genuine toyota nudge bar... saw a genuine one, deluxe version, on ebay recently but it was $490 + postage and the dealer down the road quoted me $550. so anyway have to be patient with that one.

by the way you are so right about carsales.com.au and also drive.com.au; so many yummy cars... i think it is great because it kind of helps to release the grip of second hand dealers on the second hand car market.

i want a tow bar too! and i really like the toyota genuine one, it looks really good quality. we just have to be patient and save our pennies... someone was recently selling a genuine rav4 2006-2008 model tow bar kit, it was going pretty cheap. i couldn't bid because i live in brissy and it was in sydney and it was local pickup only

  5. hi guys!

sorry if this is a dumb question... i've looked through the threads and can't seem to find out where the meet is on at, what times etc... if someone could point me in the right direction i'd be grateful!

  6. A new one was out of the question, so I picked up a 2007 model Cruiser, auto, pearl white, with only 8000km's for $34,000 - private sale.

About $10,000 less than it would have been new 8 months ago.

It is fitted with deluxe nudge bar, side steps, bonnet protector and shuRoo and has had the 5 way tint, paint, fabric and electroic rust proofing.

Extras worth about $3000 all up. Still looks brand new.

I think second hand is the way to go as there are heaps for sale on carsales.com.au Lots of choices for model, year, colour, extras and in every state. :yahoo:

sounds like a beauty. i really like the pearl white it is amazing. i've noticed to that in the dark it almost glows in the dark. i mean, not really, but perhaps you know what i mean. very good for night driving. i LOVE  the deluxe nudge bar, and quite like the side steps too. i'm planning to get the deluxe nudge when i've got enough money and am looking around for a good price. cheapest i've seen is about $550, and this is for the deluxe nudge bar alone, not fitting. i think i could fit it myself but not entirely sure....

  7. i have been looking around for seat covers myself. i found a good firm on the internet called "Inland Australia" and they make custom covers. They make covers for front seats with airbags fitted too. This is the firm that actually supplies the seat covers to toyota australia...

When i bought my rav4 recently they told me there are no actual toyota australia covers for rav4s. so i want to get the sheepskin ones from Inland Australia. Have to save for them though... pretty expensive...

I am temporarily using some dodgy brothers ones from Supercheap Auto... they have a hole in the sides for airbags but I don't feel very confident with them as when you get them home and open the pack it says that they haven't actually been tested on cars with side airbags and they take no responsibility if they don't work. So I'm not entirely happy with this situation.... I should really return them.
