  1. Cookie, any chance you can show us a bigger picture of your Kluger?

    Looks good in the avatar.

sweet...i bought mine from stewart toyota as well...i also have the same colour

  2. DEAR ALL,

Finally got my Grande after 4 weeks wait.. Went over all the switches and dials with the sales rep in the showroom. not exactly the perfect weather to get the car but watever.. happy with everything n the sales rep actually showed that the headunit has treble, mids n bass controls.. hmm mayb they r standard.. n the speaker output is not realli too bad.. may juz replace the factory speakers with FOCALS n put in some amps becos i tink i wont be putting any Tweaking control interface because there isn't much space to stick another control unit at the dash. Am happy with everything so far but fingers crossed everything goes well.. Catchya guys soon..

    Cheers ;)

To Grande TRD congrats ! I had to wait 3 months for my Grande FWD (got it last week)but it was worth the wait..Its been a great vehicle to drive so far.Cant work out were the compass is though !Not sure if we have one as is says in the brochure.

no compass because you have Sat Nav, I asked the dealer

  3. Beezza76,

    My build is August 07

The dash rattles I had are covered in a couple of lengthly posts including the resolution on recent pages.

My dealer Jacobs Toyota Wodonga logged the problem and solution to it on the Toyota internal portal site for other dealers to access.

Your dealer could contact Adam from the service dept of the above dealer for the solution first hand.

But I believe your dealer accessing the internal website is more the appropiate way to the cure that caused my problem.

That mentioned side panel was a prob for me too until I kicked it.

Hope your rattle is found soon, as it can P**s one of totally.

Cheers Garry. I didnt get a chance to go to Clark Rubber and fill the side panel with foam. I am going to Toyota to get them to checked it out, and i did a search and saw that you had a similar problem which was resolved by looking at the wiper housing.

I would like to thank everyone that posted comments (so far) its a great site and everyone has been really helpful.

    My build is March 2008.

    Thanks again

    Brezza

  4. I think I have detected a slight dash rattle, it seems to be comming from the front of the dash (drivers side) but I cant put my finger on it. Has anyone else had the same problem? I dont want to go back to Toyota and sound like a *****. It is something I now notice everytime I get in the car.

I could hear a rattle, but noone else did, that seemed to come from under the steering wheel. I could hear it when stopped in reverse, first thing in the morning, when the engine was revving high, and when going over small bumps, not big ones, so it was obviously something oscilating at certain frequencies.

I took quite a few panels off the interior looking for a loose connector hitting the panels, because thats what it sounded like, but found nothing there.

I then discovered that the noise wasn't really coming from under the steering wheel; the sound was being transmitted through the panels from lower down. It turned out to be the side panel of the console. I pulled out the plastic retaining stud int the panel next to the foot rest, put a peice of thick cardboard with a hole for the stud behind the panel, and replaced the stud. Now there is total silence. I am going to replace the cardboard with a peice of rubber or foam in the future.

I wish I had found the problem straight away, as it was in the easiest possible place to fix.

if i pop the stud will it go back in?, I want to have a look but I dont want to stuff the panel up.

If you put your fingers behind the panel near the stud, it is quite easy to pop out the stud. You can test if this is where the problem is by putting something behind the panel to stop it vibrating, and go for a drive before putting something there permanently.

The stud just pushes in again.

legend....that is exactly the stud i was refering to....many thanks...i will go to the local clark rubber grab some filling and give it a try...I have a sneaky suspicion that will fix it....I will let you all know...kudos

  5. I hope to ****** mine stays rattle-free - the KX-S I test-drove sounded like someone had slid a CD inside the dash and it was bouncing round on top of the headunit

look the car has been excellent, its just that now everytime i get in the car it is something I notice and it seems to be occouring more (Sydney roads are terrible) which doesnt help. It is not so bad I cant live with it, but I would like it to go away... :( :(

  7. I also have a slight rattle only on cold mornings, drivers side steering column? instrument panel? difficult to pinpoint and goes away after a short time on the road or warmed up. I didnt get any feedback on the cable tunnels (plastic and loose ) RH/LH under the dash where the wiring loom passes through to the doors, they have to be a potential for rattles?

    Cheers

    DHOUS

that is where it sounds like it is comming from, but it seems maybe it is near the wipers?? i have no idea

Check out the post on page 2. (sorry dont know how to add a link :o ) its titled Assumed Dash Flexing Rattles.

    Hopefully this helps

cheers mate, maybe that is it although i have checked the plastic surround and it seems quite tight...again no idea

  10. Thanks Paul, I will put some in the gallery at some stage :)
I am considering using Meg's NXT tech wax to protect the paint...does it take long??? because if it is the same as polishing normally I will have to consider....I will let u know.

I find the Tech wax very easy to apply and then buff off. Seems much easier than the traditional polishes that I used to use. Does anyone remember Turtle Wax? Went on easy enough, but was a right ***** to buff off

    Cheers

to apply do you use those meguires foamy applicator thingys???

  11. Well it was raining when I picked up the car new last Friday, but today I finally got to wash and wax it properly. I also treated the seat leather as mentioned in another Kluger thread.

I like to use Meguiars Rich leather conditioner inside, and Meguiars Tech Wax outside. On the glass I use California Custom's M-Ron glass polish, and their Purple metal polish on the nudgebar and sidesteps... It all came up a treat, and the outside gloss is fantastic

FWIW I have owned the Kluger 9 days, but already it's managed to rack up 1,000k's - lucky fuel is cheap! <_<

Anyway I had to snap some pics in the front paddock before it got dirty again... Enjoy B)

looks awsome holmesie...gave mine a good once over when i got home from work today (after giving the interior leather the condition as discussed) i use the same Meguiars Rich leather conditioner inside, and Meguiars NXT wash, haven't really gone crazy on the windows yet but i am going to try the California Custom. BTW, my number plate is VERY close to yours.

BTW, I have had my grande 5 weeks and i have done 2500kms

I will post some pics this week.

  12. I will wash my car from now on, they put a note on my account : DO NOT WASH!

    LOL

Ayway, since it didnt rain in melbourne yesterday, my cars still shinny. Should have seen everyone walking past and rubber necking towards my car and now watching where they are going. Its a good feeling. Though some of these "experience drivers" dont take care when parking, there was nearly an accident.

Anyone know of a shopping centre with extre wide parks? If people dont park properly or right on the line, i havent the guts to try and park there as yet, as it is, it feels like im going to hit theirs...lol

i always try to park between 2 columns at the shopping centre...people these days dont give a f***

  13. does anyone know how often i should clean??? I have only had the car a month, the leather still looks good but i want to take all the preventative steps to keep it tip top

    Thanks in advance

I just finished treating mine, and the leather was bloody thirsty! I'd say they would all be pretty dry from the factory, so if I were you I'd treat mine soon, and then every say 8 weeks after that? Seats came up beautifully with the Meguiar's Rich leather conditioner, but any non-greasy leather conditioner should do the trick B)

Meguiars Gold Class Leather Conditioner....is Gold!!!...looks great, you were right holmesie the seats are v' thirsty.

  14. I found these two comparison reviews, but there's not much else been done by the Aussie media... I think the Kluger is something of a quiet achiever and often gets overlooked (I know I nearly overlooked it when we were in the market... nearly bought a Territory!!! )

    CX9, Tribecca, Kluger

Dodge Nitro SXT, Ford Territory TX, Toyota Kluger KX-R, Holden Captiva CX

    Cheers!

the kluger "Lacks Territory's handling finesse"...whos he kidding, the territory has the turning circle of an oil tanker...

dodge nitro is probably the ugliest car i have ever seen...it would be in my top ten at least along with the ssang yong stavic

    OFF TO SUPACHEAP I GO......

  18. You blokes are scaring me about taking my car in to the dealer full stop!

I don't like anyone touching my cars as none of them will do the same quality as I can but I don't want to not do the first check up? I might just tell them I got it done else where out of town :whistling: and fill in the book myself, when you see all the pimple faced apprentices in those dealerships it really gets your heart rate up :angry: :(

the guys where i go at stewart toyota are very professional and i trust them....but not to clean the car.

  19. I tried two regular polishes, even though it shimmering now, i will have to eventually use cut and polish to get these out...

Is that car wash the waterless one?

I use the wash and wax one which gives it a polished look as well, i mean, i wash it about 5 times and never has it come up as bad as what they did.

nope...do not...i repeat.....do not use waterless carwash, a friend is a panel beater and he has told me that they ever so slowly cratch the car. the NXT is a water carwash and it is beautiful to use. I also have the Meguiares lambswool mit.
