  1. Well you have to find out if there is a leak from the top part of the intank fuel filter. Because you have already broke one of the bolt, it may not seal perfectly and may cause tiny leak causing petrol smell in the car. Take off your rear seat and drive and look for the leak. The rubber seal used for intank fuel filter is more important than sikaflex under the seat.

And if you have snapped the head of the bolt and bolt thread is still screwed in, using a small drill bit and a drill may able to get it out.

  2. Hey all just wondering if this is something to worry about or not. After taking my car into the dealer to get its 75000km all was well except i was told that i had a slight oil weep from my timing cover. As far as im aware there isnt any gasket or seals there. Is this something to worry about?

When i asked them to show me they said the engine had been pressure cleaned and i would not see where it was coming from.

Any help would be most appreciated

    cheers

Could it be crank or cam seal leaking? It is just possibility. I've seen oil weep around timing case on few 2GR-FE engines. (Kluger + Aurion)

  3. Well, 60,000k service is coming soon so I will be require to flush the brake fluid.

It may sound stupid but I am trying to stick with yellow color brake fluid.

I am pretty sure PBR brake fluids are blue and I have no clue about other brands.

Has anyone used Pennzoil, Motul, Castrol or other brands? If have, would you mind sharing the color of the brake fluid?

And, has anyone used other then DOT3 such as DOT4 or Synthetic?

  4. Simple question perhaps.

Getting some new tyres for the car and getting a wheel alignment done as well through Jax at this stage. Tyre prices are OK but Wheel alignment has got me thinking.

Is there anything different to getting the wheel alignment done on the Aurion? They started off at 49 for the alignment but then said the Aurion has more to do on it and bumped the price up to 66 for the job. Said something about having to do front and back.

Any ideas what they are doing or are they just bumping up the price to cover the tyre pricing?

Thrust Alighment (Two Wheel alignment) costs around 49 but 4 wheel alignment is more expensive. AND aurion is 4 wheel alignment. You are not gettring ripped.

  5. I must say, I am highly satisfied with the service from Southside Toyota Wooloongabba. Last place I had my car serviced was Sci-Fleet Toyota Taringa and I was not satisfied with their service. Southside Toyota charges slightly more on the supplies, but with their service, I'm not too fussed. As well, Southside Toyota actually adjusted my foot brake.

Totally agree with the Sci-Fleet Toyota Taringa. Because of their service, I get pi**ed off whenever I go there. Mechanically, I don't trust them at all.

  6. In fact it is true. Rattles won't be covered after 12 months. BUT dashboard rattle is just different story because it is a known issue for Toyota aurion I guess. Rattles have been a long issue for aurion and will continually be the main concern for the aurion drivers.

Previously, I also had a problem with a dealer because I had a constant rattles in the roof. I had to take it for an inspection 4 times, the total 11 days wasted. For the first inspection, they pulled down the roof assembly and tightend all the screws. Mechanic test drove saying rattles gone. BUT as I was driving out there, rattle was still there. For the second inspection, they pulled down the roof assembly and they pulled down the sunroof for check up. Mechanic test drove saying rattles gone. BUT again as I was driving out, rattle was still there.

So I took my car back to get it fixed but then the dealer was telling me that my rattle warranty just expired. WTF? So I yelled out for the service manager but he also argues that it may not be the same rattle that I am hearing from the roof. Huh? Anyway, because they have all the records in the system that I've been coming back for the rattle in the roof, they agreed to have a look at it for the one last time. For the third inspection, they pulled down the roof assembly, pulled down the entire sunroof and went for a test drive without them installed. Then they could hear the rattle so much louder that actual rattle was coming from the roof panel itself. When I got the car, I was happy with the result. After couple of days later, I realised that sunroof wasn't operating and I had a small dent going outwards on the roof. So I went back again to get the sunroof fixed and I also personally asked the mechanic about the procedures he took to fix this rattle. He mentioned that actuall rattle was coming from the panel that there were hammering involved. So I showed him the dent because it looked defenitely not damaged from outside force. He strongly denies that its not their fault. Well, I do not have strong evidence to support so I didn't make big issue out of it.

Since I've bought the car (it just reached 40,000), I have took my car in 9 times. Including 3 services, 4 times for roof rattles, 1 time for electronic seat issue and 1 time for suspension noise. I am not trying to say that Aurion is just unreliable. BUT its the dealer that makes me unhappy.

  7. Well finding a 10w30 around my area isn't so easy. There's plenty of 5w30 and 10w40.

5W30 will be perfectly fine. The recommended oil is 10W30, so if you stick to the recommendations, the first number can go as low as you want and the second number should remain at 30.

Do you know what would happen to the engine if i used 5w40 oil?

Your engine may not lubricate well because the oil being too thick. I think it is always good to stick with the recommendation. However, as DJKOR mentioned "the first number can go as low as you want".

Everyone will have different opinions but personally I would like to use Mobil 1 EP 5w-30 :)

  8. The rattle really annoys me and I wish for better handling. Everything else doesn't bother me.

the aurion is based on the lexus gs series which is rwd but yes no manual

GS is on a larger platform

ES is based on Camry (judging from wheelbase and engine)

I agree with tekkyy. As far as I know AURION is known as chinese CAMRY in other countries.

It shares almost every parts of camry. So is LEXUS ES series. GS must be based on different platform.

  9. Hey mate. Welcome to TOCAU. As I say to everyone; a wise decision on your purchase. There is a lot to be enjoyed with this car. What colour have you got so I will keep an eye out for 'ya around the area.

My color is Inferno which is orange colour. I will post the picture soon :)

Oh don't get me started on them. I hate them. Actually, their spare parts department is friendly, but their service department aren't so great. SupaTouring had his rims scratched by their incompetency as well.

Is there any other toyota dealers and service centres near by?

  10. Hey mate. Welcome to TOCAU. As I say to everyone; a wise decision on your purchase. There is a lot to be enjoyed with this car. What colour have you got so I will keep an eye out for 'ya around the area.

The Aurion has normal service intervals of 15,000km. If you drive the Aurion fairly hard, then 7,500km service intervals are a good idea. the 7,500km service intervals aren't a bad idea either even if you drive it carefully, but it is not fully necessary. Under normal conditions, you will be fine with the 15,000km intervals. I don't know what the hell they were on with the 10,000km interval. My suggestion is to not go to that service centre.

The dash rattle is a common thing. It's behaviour is a bit different for everyone. Yours is the opposite of mine. On really hot days (like the 37-38 degree day we had a few days back), my rattle quiets down. When it is cool, the rattle is louder. You can try hard to get Toyota to fix it, but it may possibly require a lot of back and forward trips to them as they don't necessarily get to it straight away. Just keep complaining to them. Eventually you will get your way.

I don't drive hard but I would like to get a service because there are constant rattles in sunroof after all. It is quite funny when people have rattle in the dash in different conditions. Anyway thx.

  11. Congrats on your purchase!! I am not too far from you, at Westlake. There are a couple of others near us with Aurions too (I'll leave them to introduce themselves in the interest of privacy).

Looks like Aurions are very popular with the Centenary suburb lot. For a car marketed as a family car, it has both comfort and performance. Hopefully you will join us on our Thursday night meet-ups, where we compare mods and decide on what to modify next. ;) See this thread.

As for the rattling, be prepared to go back and forth a few times before it is fixed, but they will fix it. At the end of the day, Toyotas are still generally well-built and you should enjoy your purchase for many, many years to come.

Thanks mate. Well, I havn't done any mods to my car yet but I would like to join the meet-ups to look the mods of other aurions.

  12. hey

welcome to the forums... its a great knowledge base for the aurion... :)

i was also told at my 1000km service to come back at 10,000kms... so i went back at 10,000kms and the guy just said to me "you dont have to service it until 15,000kms"...

as djkor said... its only 7,500kms if you drive it hard...

have fun with your new aurion and enjoy it... :)

    cya

    ash.

I must have called the same toyota service centre (Sci-fleet taringa, if it is).

  13. Hi all. I joined here some time back but for whatever reason I have never made a post. So this will be the first one to start. :)

I am a ZR6, 2008 model owner living in Mount Ommaney QLD. Well aurion is my second toyota. I used to drive previous 4cyl Camry.

There are few questions that I would like to ask.

    1. As the log book states that the actual service starts from 7,500km. My aurion just have done over 7,400km so I called Toyota Service to book in. but they told me to get a service when it reaches 10,000km. What the hack? Am I looking at the wrong log book? Or is it miss printed? When did you take your aurion for the first service? (Not the 1,000km service)

    2. I have read quite many posts about the rattle in the dash. My aurion make rattle noise when it gets heated. If I park under the sun for few of hours then drive, it makes rattle in the dash. When the cabin is cooled down it makes no rattle. Is it normal?

I already had a problem with the driver seat. It made annoying noises whenever I made tiny movements. Toyota has applied leather softner and now it is ok. Currently, my aurion making constant rattle in the sunroof :( (I hope toyota take care of this rattle).

I do not think Toyota has not improved built quality. I used to drive Camry Altise 2004 model which was about $20,000 less at the time. I also had the rattle problems from camry (Dash and roof). Still I managed to come back to toyota because I just loved the look of Aurion. Aurion just looks too good to hate.

PS. Please excuse my English, if there are wrong grammar or spelling errors. My first language isn't english :)
