Has anyone got any good ideas on the most energy efficient way of towing a 2 tonne van with a 90kW Prado diesel auto? My 2001 Prado really struggles in hilly country and the fuel economy is poor. I keep the auto transmission in 'Drive' when the going is good and switch off the Overdrive when I'm in hilly country. I generally try to keep the revs around 2,000 rpm by manually downshifting when necessary. Is there a better approach or am I just expecting too much from the Prado? It's been on the dyno recently and the torque and power curves are well up to spec. Dukalook
